State Bank of India (SBI) has conducted SBI PO 2020 mains exam on January 29 across various cities spread throughout the country. The mains exam was conducted for candidates who have qualified the prelims exam. According to the feedback received from the students, the overall difficulty of the exam was moderate to difficult. The Reasoning & Computer Aptitude section was moderate to difficult, Data Analysis & Interpretation section was difficult, General/Economy/Banking Awareness was moderate, English Language section was easy to moderate. There were no questions on Computer Aptitude. The descriptive test of SBI PO mains exam was moderate.

The exam was conducted putting in place all the safety precautions due to COVID-19 pandemic. The temperature of candidates was checked before they were allowed to enter the exam hall. The security officials ensured that all the candidates wore a mask. Candidates were asked to sanitise their hands before entering the exam hall.

SBI PO 2020 mains exam comprised both objective and descriptive type questions. The paper carried a total of 157 questions. The objective type test comprised questions from Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness and English Language. Questions in the descriptive test were asked from letter writing and essay writing. The total marks allotted to the test are 250. The duration of the test was 3.5 hours.

SBI PO 2020 Mains Exam Analysis & Review by Students

Shiksha visited one of the SBI PO exam centres in Greater Noida to gather the feedback of candidates regarding the section-wise and overall difficulty level of the exam. Check below the feedback shared by the candidates.

Vaibhav Nirmal said, "The exam was tough. The Data Analysis & Interpretation section was the toughest among all sections. Reasoning section was moderate to difficult. This year, the paper was tough compared to 2019. The Descriptive paper was good. In Current Affairs, questions were asked from RBI policies, global index, fertility rates. The Reading Comprehension topic was based on deforestation. In Letter Writing, we were asked to write a letter to the Manager seeking leave for MBA preparation. In Essay Writing , topics were -pros and cons of online learning during COVID period, global hunger index. This is my second attempt in the SBI PO. I did self-preparation for SBI PO prelims and mains exams by following online resources, study materials, and mock tests."

Sandeep Bhargav said, "The Mathematics section was the toughest. Questions were basically logical and DI questions were hard. The reasoning was easy to moderate. The puzzles in the Reasoning section were doable. The English section was easy to moderate. There were no questions from Computer Aptitude. In General Awareness, mostly questions were from current affairs, RBI policies, schemes, etc. In the Descriptive paper, essay questions were on the pros and cons of online education during COVID times. Letter writing topic was based on how to inspire students to join defence forces."

Chandraveer Singh said, "The paper was moderate to difficult. In Maths, I attempted 18 questions. In Reasoning, I answered 16 questions. In GK, there were no questions about sports, important days, etc. The English Language section was easy. There were two paragraphs, five to six questions from error detection, column matching, word matching. In the Descriptive section, questions were asked from essay and letter writing. I did self-study to prepare for SBI PO mains exam by following online study materials. In Reasoning, age-based puzzles, two parallel rows-based puzzles, circular-based puzzles, box-based puzzles. Three questions were from Syllogism, three to four questions from Direction Coding, three questions from statements and conclusions, one machine code (alphabets and numbers). In Quant, five to six questions were from comparision, three to four questions were from arithmetic, one pie chart, one double line chart, etc."

Piyush Chauhan said, "The exam was good. The Reasoning section was moderate, and I attempted 19 questions. The Quant section was moderate and I attempted more than 20 questions. In GA, I attempted 10 to 12 questions, and this section according to me was difficult. The English Language section was easy and I managed to attempt more than 30 questions. The Descriptive paper was also easy."

The section-wise analysis of SBI PO 2020 mains exam is given below.

Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: This section carried a total of 45 questions. The maximum mark allotted to this section is 60. Candidates had to complete this section within 60 minutes. Questions were asked from Input-Output Arrangement (Words & Numbers), Blood Relation Arrangement, Colours & Age-based Puzzle, Matrix, Parallel Row puzzle, Data Sufficiency, Puzzle, Coded Direction, Syllogism and Logical Reasoning.

Data Analysis & Interpretation: This section carried a total of 35 questions. The total marks allotted to this section are 60. Candidates were given 45 minutes to complete this section. Questions were asked from Line Graph (Orders & Delivery), Conditional DI (Missing data), Pie Chart DI, Tabular DI, Replacement DI (Milk & Water Ratio), Missing Number Series, Caselet DI (Facebook).

General/Economy/Banking Awareness: Total questions asked in this section were 40. The maximum marks allotted to this section were 40. Candidates were given 35 minutes to complete the paper. Questions were asked from SAIL Chairman, GRIHA Abbreviation, Kharif Crop, WMA Limit, CRAR, LIC IPO, JAVA Bike, PIDF related, Pension Yojana (PMVVY), QIP full form, Light House inaugurated by PM Modi, POS, Financial Inclusion Committee, Largest producer of Coal, UPI -Autopay, Architecture of British Sansad Bhawan, Government subvention, Living Root Bridge, Pension-related Data, Regulatory Sand Box Theme, Biofuel - Ethanol, Satpura tiger reserve

English Language: Total of 35 questions were asked from this section. The total marks allotted to this section are 40. Candidates were given 40 minutes to attempt this section. SBI PO 2020 Mains Exam Analysis: Descriptive Test

Candidates based on their marks in the mains exam, will be called for the Phase III exam. This year due to COVID-19, the Phase III exam might comprise either only interview or both Group Exercises and Interview.
