SBI PO Selection Process 2026
The State Bank of India conducts SBI PO exam to select candidates for the posts of Probationary Officers (PO)/Management Trainees. The recruitment process will begin with the release of SBI PO notification. Interested candidates need to apply online for the SBI PO exam. The selection process of SBI PO comprises Preliminary, Mains), and Phase III Psychometric Test, Interview and Group Exercises. The selection process of SBI PO is given below:

On joining, the selected candidates will be designated as Probationary Officers and will be on probation for two years. Their performance will be evaluated during the probation period before confirmation. Candidates who excel in their performance will be promoted to the next grade, Middle Management Grade Scale-II (MMGS-II).
The final selection of candidates is done based on the Phase II mains exam and Phase III Interview only or Group Exercises and Interview. The marks obtained in the preliminary exam are not added for preparing the final merit list for selection. Marks secured by the candidates in the Main Examination (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 marks and Interview only or Group Exercises & Interview scores of the candidate (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25 marks. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating the converted marks out of 100. Selection is done from the top-ranked candidates in each category.
About SBI SO psychometric test
SBI has introduced psychometric test in the selection process of SBI PO exam. The psychometric test is conducted for personality profiling for those candidates who will be shortlisted for Phase 3. The performance of candidates in the psychometric test will be placed before the interview panel to have a through perspective on the candidates.
When candidates are selected, they join the SBI Bank as a Probationary Officer and will serve the probation period of two years. Yes. There is negative marking in the SBI PO exam in both Prelims and Mains for the objective-type questions. For every wrong answer 0.25 marks or 1/4th marks are deducted but for un attempted or skipped questions none of the marks are deducted.
