Best Books for SSC CGL General Awareness: The Staff Selection Commission is expected to conduct the SSC CGL 2025 exam from August 13 to 30. The Commission will release the SSC CGL admit card approximately four days before the candidate's exam date. Current Affairs

The candidates should note that current affairs is enormous but the number of questions anticipated from this section is few. Most of the questions asked in the SSC CGL exam are based on current affairs, though the Commission is asking questions about the previous year’s events in the name of current affairs. The candidates should constantly prepare notes of the events and upgrade them with the current happenings across the nation and the world. The best source to prepare the Current Affairs is the following:

  • Newspaper
  • Current Affairs Magazine
  • Current Affairs questions

Apart from the newspaper, the candidates should regularly visit any website that covers current affairs regularly. This is required so that all the events are covered for the exam. Besides the above, the candidate can take the yearly issues of current affairs magazines from a different publication.

History, Art and Culture

The History questions are asked from the Art and Culture part of the specific era. The questions ask the objective information such as the place, architecture type, the ruler who built a monument and such information. Staff Selection Commission asks a few questions from the History of India section. It includes the following:

  • Ancient History
  • Medieval History
  • Modern History and Indian National Movement

The candidates should prepare the Modern History and Indian National Movement thoroughly. The candidates should also prepare the Ancient and Medieval History but not that deeply.

The candidates should refer to the SSC CGL question papers to anticipate the most important parts of Ancient and Medieval History and prepare a priority list of topics to prepare.

NCERT Books of History (Class VI to XII) are the best and most authentic source of History for preparation. Indian and World Geography

Candidates must prepare the Indian and world geography objectively. SSC asks about the important physical features and not the process. SSC ask very few questions from the Indian Economy section. Indian Economy topics have an overlapping area with Current affairs. Indian Polity

The candidates should understand the political structure of the country in its entirety. The candidates should read the important articles of the Constitution related to the Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP), Union Executives, Supreme Court, Special Status to States and the like to understand the Indian Political System. International News

SSC ask very few questions about International news in the SSC CGL exam. The candidates should prepare only some aspects of the International news these aspects can be the following:

  • International Summits, Conferences, Meetings
  • International appointments of Heads of Countries, International Institutions
  • Major Accidents/ Geographic catastrophic events/Terrorist Attacks

The candidates should not give much time to international news.

Sports News

This is an important component of General Awareness and the candidates should cover International and national sports. The candidates should cover sports news under current affairs. Person in News

The candidates should prepare this category thoroughly. Most of the questions from current affairs have been asked in this section. The candidates should prepare this section keeping in mind the following things:

This is a very broad category of the General Awareness section. This should be covered under the current affairs section. The candidates can cover the following under this section.
