Interested in pursuing a master's degree/MSc from IIT and NITs? Candidates need to appear in the IIT JAM 2026 examination to get admission to eight MSc degree programmes at IIT and NITs. IIT JAM 2026 online registration started on September 5, 2025, and the exam was held on February 15, 2026. Know the minimum educational qualification and IIT JAM 2026 age limit criteria that candidates need to meet as part of IIT JAM eligibility criteria 2026.

JAM 2026 Eligibility Criteria

IIT JAM 2026 exam will be conducted on February 15, 2026, to provide admissions to MSc degree programmes for around 3000 seats in postgraduate programmes at 21 IITs for the academic year 2026-26. Students must fulfill the IIT JAM eligibility criteria 2026 to appear in the IIT JAM 2026 exam. They need to have a bachelor's degree with a specified percentage of marks or equivalent qualifying exams.

JAM 2026 application process will start on September 5, 2025, on the official website. Before filling out the registration form candidates are advised to check out the JAM eligibility criteria 2026 so that they don't lose their candidature at any stage in the IIT JAM admission process 2026. The last date for filling out the JAM application from 2026 was October 12, 2025. It is important to note that candidates who are filling up the application form need not to fill out the fill in one go. They can fill up step-wise and save the data entered on the JOAPS portal and can later add new details. This feature makes the JAM 2026 registration process hassle free.  

 IIT JAM 2026 will comprise separate question papers for the below-mentioned subjects:

  • Mathematics (MA)
  • Geology (GG)
  • Mathematical Statistics (MS)
  • Biotechnology (BT)

Regarding the IIT JAM 2026 eligibility criteria, IIT Bombay has stated, "At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. The admitted candidates may also have to undergo a Physical Fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. Admission is liable to be cancelled if a candidate is found physically unfit to pursue their chosen course of study."
