IIT JAM Exam 2026: Admit Card Released, Important Dates, Exam Date & Other Events

IIT JAM exam syllabus 2026 is available online on the website, jam2026.iitb.ac.in. Students can know the important topics for exam preparation through JAM 2026 syllabus. Each test paper have different syllabus. Students must plan their preparation strategy as per the syllabus.

JAM 2026 Examination will be conducted in eight zones. The names of these eight zones with the list of zone-wise Examination Cities are listen on JAM 2026 exam centres (Probable Examination cities of JAM 2026). Candidates must specify their first, second and third choice of cities at the time of applying for JAM 2026. When the choice of first city is made, then the zone gets determined and the candidates will be able to choose the second and third choice city only from the same zone.

In case, any city in the choices is not allotted due to operational reasons, alternate city will be allotted. Candidates are requested to regularly check JAM 2026 website for updates regarding examination cities, if any.

IIT JAM scores will be used for admission to over 2000 seats for postgraduate programmes such as MSc and MA at IISc and various NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET, DIAT through Centralized Counselling for MSc / MSc (Tech.) Admission (CCMN). 
In addition, JAM scores will be used for admission to the four Integrated Ph D Programmes and two MSc Programmes at Indian Institute of Science (IISc). JAM 2025 scores are likely to be used by various other institutes such as Jawaharlal Nehru
Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER Pune), and Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE). Students can plan their preparation through the exam syllabus. Check the syllabus to know what the important topics are. Then gather the required resources like the best books, previous year question paper, and mock test. Students must solve the IIT JAM question paper after completing 70% of the syllabus to keep track of their preparation.

IIT JAM mock test is a simulated version of the actual Joint Admission Test for MSc JAM exam. It is designed to replicate the exam pattern, difficulty level & question types to help aspirants prepare effectively.

For the academic session 2026-2027 IIT Bombay will be conducting the JAM 2026 exam on February 15, 2026. 

Successfully registered candidates of the IIT JAM 2026 application get an opportunity to modify the details that were earlier filled incorrectly in the JAM 2026 application form.

In advance city intimation slip document candidates will only be intimated about the city where their exam centre has been allotted. The objective of this document is to help candidates prepare in advance regarding exam day travel or commute.

IIT JAM passing mark varies category wise for each test paper. Students need to check the JAM scorecard to know the minimum passing marks for the test. Candidates belonging to "GEN" category need to score 25+ marks to qualify in the Biotechnology paper and 27+ marks in Chemistry. The minimum passing marks for GEN category are mentioned below.

IIT JAM 2026 provisional answer key is likely to be scheduled in February 2026. But the exact dates will be confirmed by the IIT Bombay on the JOAPS portal.

As per the official information, it is confirmed that JAM 2026 examination is scheduled to be held on February 15, 2026. Depeneding upon any technical issue and crisis from the examaintion conducting body, the examination might schedule to other dates, but the probability of that is very negligible. 

IIT JAM exam was conducted for 100 marks. The question paper comprises 60 questions. Students need to obtain 75+ marks to qualify for the entrance test.

IIT JAM 2026 application correction window was opened from October 31 to November 13, 2025.
