Candidates can check their IIT JAM 2026 result by following the steps:

Step 1: Visit the official website of IIT JAM- https://jam2025.iitd.ac.in/index.php

Step 2: Click on the IIT JAM results link present on the Home page of the website. 

Step 3: Enter enrollment/ email ID and JOAPS password.

Step 4: Evaluate the arithmetic expression given and put the value in the space provided.

Step 5: Click on the Submit button.

The IIT JAM score calculation involves a combination of factors related to the exam's structure and marking scheme. Here's a breakdown:

• Exam Structure:
• The IIT JAM exam consists of 60 questions, totaling 100 marks.
   
  • Section A: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) 
     
  • Section B: Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) 
     
  • Section C: Numerical Answer Type (NAT) question. 
     
    It's divided into three sections:
• Marking Scheme:

Section A (MCQs):

Contains both 1-mark and 2-mark questions.

Has negative marking: 1/3 deduction for each wrong 1-mark answer, and 2/3 deduction for each wrong 2-mark answer.

Section B (MSQs):

Each question carries 2 marks. 

No negative marking.

Full marks only given when all the correct answer options are chosen, and no wrong options. 

Section C (NATs):

Contains both 1-mark and 2-mark questions   

No negative marking.

Score Calculation:

1. Candidates' final scores are based on the combined marks obtained from all three sections.

2. The score reflects the sum of correct answers minus any deductions from incorrect answers in Section A.

3. It is important to remember that the final scoring that creates a rank, is also dependent on the distribution of scores amongst all of the people who take the test.

The exam officials will publish the IIT JAM 2026 cut off for a particular subject in the scorecard of the candidate who appeared for that subject. Candidates can go through the expected JAM 2025 subject-wise cut-off from here to get an idea about the previous year's cutoff trends.

IIT JAM 2024 Topper List

The JAM 2024 Topper list contains the list of names who have secured AIR Rank 1 in all the subjects for which the examination was conducted.

In case there is a tie between the aggregate scores of two candidates in a test paper, the candidate with a higher ratio of positive marks than negative marks will be awarded a higher rank. In case this criteria fails to break the tie, both candidates will be awarded the same rank.

On the basis of AIRs awarded to candidates, an all-India merit list will be prepared. However, “the number of candidates included in all India merit list depends on the total number of seats available in each category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD) in a given subject,” informs the official website.

All qualified candidates allotted AIRs will then be eligible to apply for admission in their respective courses offered at colleges accepting IIT JAM scores.
