A postgraduate in MCom Finance from Dibrugarh University, Nazreen Parveen Ali cleared UGC NET (November) 2017 Commerce paper for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) as well as Assistant Professor. She scored 64, 76, and 54 marks in Paper I, II, and III respectively, which took her total score to 224 marks.
When we asked Nazreen if she expected to qualify UGC NET for both JRF and Assistant Professor, she replied, “I expected to qualify for Assistant Professor but not JRF. After giving the exam I was continuing my preparation for JRF for my next attempt of NET in 2018.”
Nazreen shared that she never took any coaching to clear the exam. Regarding her UGC NET preparation strategy, she stated, “I focused on solving last ten years’ papers of the exam. Besides, I made sure to make my concepts stronger for all topics that were hinted in the questions I solved and mentioned in NET syllabus.” She further talked about her study plan for the exam and said that she studied three to four hours every day for three months. She mainly referred to her BCom books, guides, and content available online. Nazreen revealed that she has done her graduation in Accounting and Finance from DHSK Commerce College.
An extremely talented student, Nazreen not only qualified for UGC NET JRF and Assistant Professor but she also topped DURAT (Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test) for admission in PhD course offered at Dibrugarh University.
A sincere student, Nazreen feels that all UGC NET 2018 aspirants should allocate their time to studies with full dedication. She further advised that, “Avoid marking answers in the exam in hurry. It is important to understand each word of a question and then mark its answer.” Elaborating further she said, “I lost marks on six to seven questions because I hurriedly marked their answers.”
Currently providing private tuitions to students, Nazreen shared that she gets utmost satisfaction in teaching Mathematics and in future she wants to make her career in the same field. However, currently, she wants to pursue her PhD with complete focus. Apart from teaching, Nazreen also enjoys painting, singing, and listening to music.
When we asked Nazreen if she has any tips to give students who are planning to take the exam next year, she said, “Students should do thorough studies and solve as many MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) as they can. Also, students should not confine themselves to basic syllabus of UGC NET. Rather, they should gain as much knowledge as they can from different sources.”
