It is the best course for students if they are looking for placements.

Placements: B.Tech. in Safety and Fire Engineering in CUSAT has a 100% placements for the past few years. If we don't have an active backlog during our final year, it is almost certain that we will be placed in reputed companies like BPCL IOCL, GAIL, L&T, Adani Group, etc.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure and lab facilities are average. Only students from the SC and ST categories will get a university hostel during the first year. Later on, hostel allotment will be provided based on the distance of our hometown from the college. The hostel experience is average, considering cleanliness and infrastructure aspects. But the hostel fee is Rs. 500 only, which is less compared to the rent if we are staying in a PG or flat.

Faculty: Our college has supportive faculty members and a good course curriculum. The course is less technical in nature and comparatively easier than other engineering branches. It has only a few permanent faculty members. Most are temporary assistant professors, but they teach well. Exams are also not that tough except few subjects. Most of the subjects are theory and not problem-solving type.

Other: CUSAT, Kochi campus is very vibrant and good. It is situated in the heart of the city. So it will be a great campus experience. B.Tech. in Safety and Fire Engineering is one of the best courses in CUSAT, with NAAC A+ and NBA tier 1 accreditation.

School of Engineering provides high-quality education in major engineering.

Placements: Around 100% of placements are ensured by safety and fire department. If a student has no active backlogs, they will surely be placed. Top companies are GAIL (Gas Authority India Limited), CAIRN, Alstom, L&T, Reliance, Tata, Indian Oil, ONGC, etc. The average salary package offered is around 10 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 6 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 22 LPA.

Infrastructure: Hostel accommodation for around 600 male and 700 female students is available for undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students. Main campus has Sanathana, Siberia, Sarovar, and Post metric hostels for boys and men's hostels. Aiswarya, Athulya, Anaswara, and post metric hostels for girls and ladies' hostels. OBC has post metric hostel for girls and ladies' hostel. Lakeside campus has Cochin University Marine Science campus hostel and men's hostel. Campus cafe is open from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM on all working days including Saturday. A wide variety of South Indian and North Indian dishes are available. During lunch time meals are available at very nominal rates. Library has a special collections section which is one of the best in India. Truly a treasure house of doctoral like patents, WHO, and other UNO documents, census reports, art books, Vikasana Rekha (Development Reports), and books on library and information science.

Other: The initiative undertaken in this regard by CUSAT is a classic instance of how nature's beautiful resources can be put to optimum use to tackle water scarcity. In 2012, CUSAT campus faced water crisis and had to rely on tankers to meet its water requirements. The issue prompted this university to look for solutions. Later, a decision was taken to construct a pond on campus. Ever since the pond - constructed by the Engineering Department of this university - became a reality, water shortage became a thing of the past.

It is a highly expensive college for students who join in all-India quota.

Placements: It is the only branch where everyone in a class will be placed with an average salary package of 10 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 30 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Gail, IOCL, Vedanta, etc. Almost 97% of students got placed in our college. Top roles offered in this course are safety officer, fire investigator, fire safety consultant, etc.

Infrastructure: The campus facilities are average. The hostel facilities are average. Around 50% of students are forced to stay in private hostels because of their unavailability and high demand. Its monthly rent is only for Rs. 450-600. The food offered is Indian and good quality.

Faculty: All teachers and mentors are highly qualified. Some of them lack the quality of teaching. It makes the class boring sometimes. This course curriculum is relevant. Its internship makes students industry-ready. The safety and fire engineering course is comparatively easier than the normal core branches. It is easy to study.

Other: I chose safety and fire engineering because, in CUSAT, placements are high. Our college should provide more hostels. Events are of top-level and extracurricular activities are appreciable

CUSAT is among Kerala's best, with great campus life and academics.

Placements: Placement opportunities are very high in this university. B. Tech Safety and Fire, Naval Architecture, and Shipbuilding have 100% placement in the last years. In other courses also, they are providing high-package jobs. Several public sector undertakings are also coming for placements to pick students.

Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are also great. According to the allowance, most of the students get their hostels at a very low cost. Under their admission, other students can also get the hostel at a very low cost as guests. Drinking water facilities like hot and cold water are also available readily there. The freedom that we get in the hostels is really good compared to any other hostel in Kerala. Parking facilities for student vehicles are also there. The classrooms are smart rooms, including smart class boards, TVs, projectors, etc.

Faculty: Teachers are really good. They are very supportive during the placement drive and in project and seminar presentations. Teachers are also supportive in giving previous questions for all students, especially for the students who are writing supplementary exams. Most of the professors here right now are experienced in many industries, so they give us practical ideas about what we are studying. And the professors here have many connections with people in those industries. So it is easier for us students and placement coordinators to connect with the company for campus placement drives.

Other: I chose this course because I have a big opportunity in this section in my career. And the package provided by this course is very big compared to any other college in Kerala. I also have a big opportunity for learning and developing extracurricular activities. You can easily participate in any sports and tech events and contribute.

Great option for someone who needs a stable, decent paying job right after college.

Placements: Out of 60 eligible students, 58 get placed every year. The highest package is 21.5 LPA GAIL India, the lowest is 3 LPA, and the average is 8.5 LPA varies yearly. Top recruiters include GAIL, BHEL, BPCL, IOCL, ONGC, Vedanta, Tata, L&T, etc. Internships are mandatory from 2023, with common companies like Cochin Shipyard, Port, GAIL, BPCL, etc. Most students join as executive trainees and later become HSE engineers or fire officers.

Infrastructure: The department has well-maintained classrooms with Wi-Fi and projectors, along with fully equipped labs and a fire training ground. There is also a soft computing lab exclusively for our department. The university library has a dedicated section for safety and fire engineering books. CUSAT provides affordable hostels with great facilities, while private accommodations and messes are also available nearby. The canteens, cafes, and CUSAT restaurants offer quality food at subsidized rates. A medical center provides free care for students and faculty. The university has a sports ground, a gym at low rates, and indoor games like chess and badminton.

Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and helpful. They are supportive and help with many academic projects. The course curriculum is always updated and modified according to the needs of the industry. The course is hence relevant and up-to-date, focusing on making students industry-ready. The semester exams are difficult, though doable with consistent preparation. Almost all students pass most subjects with ease, though there are some subjects that are hard to pass. In the previous year, the final-year students with standing supplies were 7 out of 70.

Other: It is one of the course with more than a 90% placement rate. They also offer a good package, and jobs are stable compared to other fields. The only downsides are the limited job opportunities outside of campus and limited options for higher studies. Career growth is also slower in this field compared to others.

It's better that you follow your passion. CUSAT fire and safety department is one of the top in the country. With regards to placement also it's is one of the top college in the country. You can collect further details from the university website.
