For seat allocation at DU, students are required to lock their college and course preferences after the result is out. Delhi University will consider normalised scores provided by NTA to calculate the merit scores as per programme's eligibility. Candidates will not be granted admission on the basis of merit of Class 12 There are some percentage criteria required to appear for the CUET exam for Class 12 candidates which is given below:
- Students must have passed Class 12 or appeared in Class 12 from a recognized board in any stream to take admission to bachelor's degree programmes in the central, state, private or deemed universities.
- For the General category, the candidate needs to secure a minimum of 50% in Class 12; for SC/ST, candidates must have secured a minimum of 45% in Class 12 to be eligible for the CUET exam. For BTch programmes, the minimum aggregate for the General category candidates is 45%, and that of the reserved category candidates is 40%.
Morever, candidates who wish to apply for Delhi University must have a valid score in CUET. Undergraduate courses including BCom, BTech, BA, BSc and more are offered by the affiliated colleges.
Yes, it is possible to get in DU without CUET. However, this is not applicable for traditional regular UG courses. For most programmes, the university asks for CUET UG or CUET PG score. For courses, such as MBA and Law programmes, the university also considers other exams. Students can also join DU SOL, NCWEB using Class 12 marks and skipping CUET.

The University of Delhi admit candidates to the BTech courses based on merit in JEE/ CUET scores. Candidates should keep themselves updated with the accepted exam dates. Delhi University admission 2026 are now closed for the UG programmes. The DU CSAS_UG counselling process is has now concluded.
Candidates wishing to get admission in UG and PG courses at Delhi University have to qualify CUET exam. Applicants need to register and counsel through the university's Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal.
DU is considered one of the most competitive universities in India for Commerce, Science and Arts education at the undergraduate level. The university and its affiliated colleges was attracting the cream layer of crowd till the time admission was subject to Class 12 scores. While reserved category candidates still had minor chances of getting into a not-so-popular course of DU with 60% in Class 12, a General category student with 60% had no chance of getting into any good college or course at DU.
However, starting 2022, DU admission process has shifted to CUET-UG based admission process. Those with a valid score in CUET UG exam who have passed their Class 12 are eligible to take admission now. While the chances of getting into a good DU college are still low at this score, the chances of getting a seat have increased now (provided you score extremely well in CUET UG).
Before the CUET counselling process for DU will even begin, it is necessary that aspirants opt for DU during CUET form filling and later apply on the CSAS portal to be eligible for admission. The admission process after CUET result declaration is explained below:
Step 1: After the declaration of the CUET UG exam, register on the DU CSAS portal in multiple phases.
Step 2: Submit College + Course combination preferences in the order of priority on the CSAS dashboard.
Step 3: The University has released the dates for three DU CSAS Seat Allocation Lists for all categories.
- The "freeze" option in seat allocation for CSAS (DU) is to be selected by the students to confirm their admission choice to the allocated college and course at DU.
- If candidates are happy with the assigned college and course, they can freeze the request through their dashboard.
- Once they select this option, they will not be considered for "upgradation" of choice in further rounds of CSAS.
- Candidates must only select this option only if they are satisfied with the allocated seat and want to take admission to this course & college
- If they do not choose to upgrade or freeze your admission, their current status will be maintained.
Step 4: Once the candidate "Accept" the provisionally allocated seat, the concerned college will verify the eligibility and documents uploaded by the candidate online. The college has an option to 'Accept' or 'Reject' the admission of the student basis the verification.
Step 5: Once the DU-affiliated college accords the approval, candidates will have to pay the 'Admission Fee' to confirm their seat.
On the basis of the availability of seats due to rejections, cancellations, and withdrawals, DU may announce multiple allocation rounds. The University of Delhi will display the vacant seats on its admission website (admission.uod.ac.in) before every allocation round.
DU BTech Admission Process 2026
Selection for DU BTech course is as per accepted exam scores. Delhi University course admission involves form filling, appearing for test, counselling for seat allocation, and fee payment. It is advised to check eligibility requirements before filling out the form. Mentioned below is the detailed University of Delhi BTech admission process:
1: CUET Registration
The eligible students can visit the NTA official website (nta.ac.in) for form filling. Students should keep valid documents handy during the form filling. The application fees can be paid to apply successfully.
2: Appearing for Exam
Registered students need to appear for the entrance exam. CUET is conducted in multiple phases as per number of students who registered for the test. The candidates can check out how to prepare for CUET during preparation phase. Candidates can also apply with JEE Main score.
3: DU UG CSAS Registration
After conclusion of the entrance, DU CSAS registrations starts for allotment process. It is carried out for college and course allotment. Candidates can visit the DU CSAS portal for registration.
4: Counselling & Seat Confirmation
In the final step, the seat allocation is done. Selected candidates can pay course fees for seat confirmation. The total tuition fees for BTech is INR 4.32 lakh. It is as per official sources, but is still subject to revision.

Commonly asked questions On Application Process
DU registrations via CUET 2023 for UG programmes began on Feb 10, 2023 and were open till Mar 30, 2023. Additionally, for admission to PG courses, DU CUET-PG registrations for the 2023 session started on Mar 20 and were open till May 5. Interested candidates were able to apply online on the official website of CUET UG and CUET PG.
Followed by the application forms of CUET UG and CUET PG, DU has already started the DU CSAS registration for final college and course allotment of students who qualified the CUET UG exam. The process will begin soon for CUET PG qualifiers as well.
While minimum Class 12 are required, DU admissions are not based on a candidate's Class 12 performance. Instead, CUET UG score is the main selection criteria at DU. The higher CUET score, the better chances at top DU colleges. Hence, applicants have to meet the minimum eligibility of 40%-60% depending on the programme.

SRCC Fees ranges between INR 87,735 to INR 3.2 lakh for the entire tuition fee depending upon the chosen course and specialisation. The total tuition fee for both BA (Hons) & BCom (Hons) is INR 87.73k. For PG Diploma courses, the fee is INR 3.2 lakh.

According to me, if you are getting a seat in DU, choose it as your priority. DU is a better choice in terms of academics and affordable fees.
LPU is a good option if you want modern infrastructure, a diverse campus, practical learning, internships, and placement support. But the decision is yours,
