    On Admissions
Q: Β  Do I need 60% in Class 12 to get admission in DU?
    A:

DU is considered one of the most competitive universities in India for Commerce, Science and Arts education at the undergraduate level. The university and its affiliated colleges was attracting the cream layer of crowd till the time admission was subject to Class 12 scores. While reserved category candidates still had minor chances of getting into a not-so-popular course of DU with 60% in Class 12, a General category student with 60% had no chance of getting into any good college or course at DU.

However, starting 2022, DU admission process has shifted to CUET-UG based admission process. Those with a valid score in CUET UG exam who have passed their Class 12 are eligible to take admission now. While the chances of getting into a good DU college are still low at this score, the chances of getting a seat have increased now (provided you score extremely well in CUET UG).

Q: Β  How will I be allocated a seat at DU via the CSAS allocation (CUET UG counselling process)?
    5thumbs up
    A:

For seat allocation at DU, students are required to lock their college and course preferences after the result is out. Delhi University will consider normalised scores provided by NTA to calculate the merit scores as per programme's eligibility. The highest possible preference will be provisionally allocated to the candidates considering the following points:

    • Course-Specific merit
    • Category of the students (UR/ OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ EWS/ Minority)
    • Seat Intake
    • Any other allocation rules, policies, or criteria citied by CSAS or University of Delhi
Q: Β  Can I get admission in DU without CUET?
    A:

Yes, it is possible to get in DU without CUET. However, this is not applicable for traditional regular UG courses. For most programmes, the university asks for CUET UG or CUET PG score. For courses, such as MBA and Law programmes, the university also considers other exams. Students can also join DU SOL, NCWEB using Class 12 marks and skipping CUET.

Q: Β  Can I take direct admission in Delhi University?
    A:

No, candidates cannot take direct admission in Delhi University. The university offers admission into UG and PG programmes based on scores achieved in CUET (Common University Entrance Test) conducted by NTA. Candidates need to register and counsel through the university's Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal.

    A:

Before the CUET counselling process for DU will even begin, it is necessary that aspirants opt for DU during CUET form filling and later apply on the CSAS portal to be eligible for admission. The admission process after CUET result declaration is explained below:

Step 2: Submit College + Course combination preferences in the order of priority on the CSAS dashboard.

Step 3: The University has released the dates for three DU CSAS Seat Allocation Lists for all categories.

    • The "freeze" option in seat allocation for CSAS (DU) is to be selected by the students to confirm their admission choice to the allocated college and course at DU.
    • If candidates are happy with the assigned college and course, they can freeze the request through their dashboard.
    • Once they select this option, they will not be considered for "upgradation" of choice in further rounds of CSAS.

Step 5: Once the DU-affiliated college accords the approval, candidates will have to pay the 'Admission Fee' to confirm their seat.

On the basis of the availability of seats due to rejections, cancellations, and withdrawals, DU may announce multiple allocation rounds. The University of Delhi will display the vacant seats on its admission website (admission.uod.ac.in) before every allocation round.

My overall experience is so good.
Placements: Placements depend on your performance. If you score better in graduation then it helps you find a good job opportunity from the department. Amazon and many more companies came in the final year to place students. French, Spanish, German, and Italian language courses have good infrastructure in placements.
Infrastructure: I am from German and central library is close to UG students. We only access the department library which is not good as I found. Department has no Wi-Fi, no sports, and no hostel for foreign language course students. You have to choose PG or rent rooms.
Faculty: It is good. We have class tests, internals, and continuous assessments throughout the semester. The most important are presentations and lots of assignments with 5 marks for attendance. Teachers are so well-behaved and supportive. If you are attentive throughout the semester then you can easily pass in semester.
Other: Foreign language courses are highly recommended in our country. If you choose German you will get a job opportunity as I think so.

I am satisfied with my college and course, good for my future.
Placements: Around 70% chances are there for a good placement for a German course because it's a foreign-appropriate course. The highest package is around 25-26 LPA and the lowest would be 5-6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are in India only. A civil service preparation with this course.
Infrastructure: There are around 2-3 libraries. Classrooms are good. The building is equipped with air-conditioners. In the spring season, the campus looks quite beautiful. There are washrooms everywhere and in a good condition.
Faculty: Our teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is also pretty good. The course curriculum is very relevant and top-notch. Semester exams are moderate but the tests are difficult just to make you better at exams.
Other: I chose this course because it seemed to be the most interesting to me as I'm learning a new language which is very suitable for everyone. There's nothing to improve about my course. There are fest and events all around in the north campus colleges, so you can enjoy and have great things ahead, with this course you'll also get to explore many colleges more.

    Decent off-campus college for psychology.
Placements: Placements for psychology in my college are quite limited, as most students opt for a master's degree rather than seeking jobs immediately after a Bachelors. On-campus placements are almost non-existent, those seeking for jobs have to explore off-campus options. If in case you opt for placement drive, usually HR roles are offered. However, there are no structured placement opportunities especially for psychology students within the college.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi IS not available, but labs are well-equipped with AC, though it sometimes does not work. Compared to other DU colleges, the infrastructure is decent. The library has most of the necessary books for the course, though there is scope for more. Overall the infrastructure is good. I did not stay in the hostel as the rooms are very small and compact. The food is average, similar to any other mess. Sports facilities are good, with many opportunities available.
Faculty: The permanent faculty is knowledgeable, but the quality of guest faculty varies each year. The course follows DU's curriculum, which is well-structured and relevant, though additional practical exposure is needed for industry readiness. Semester exams are easy and straightforward, with PYQs being helpful. The passing percentage is around 33%.
Other: For psychology, since there are only 12 colleges, this is a decent college. Do not expect a campus life here. The surrounding area is decent.

Shaheed Rajguru College has good infrastructure.
Placements: There was no placement cell for psychology students, nor were any internships provided by the college. But, I was provided with a letter of recommendation by the college, which can be used for further internships and jobs. Apart from that, nothing was provided. I wish they had developed a better placement cell.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was good, with AC in every seminar hall. Wi-Fi facility was available. The library was really good, with sufficient space and books according to the curriculum. The hostel was okayish, providing good food at a reasonable price. I never used the medical facility. Sports and game equipment were available.
Faculty: Teachers were quite good and really experienced. They were helpful and would help students even on WhatsApp. They were really friendly and always tried to understand students. They were not strict with assignments and tests. They also helped a lot with practicals too.
Other: The campus life was not good. As it was an off-campus college, you wouldn't find much of a crowd there. But, make 100% of it whatever opportunities were provided. Scholarships were provided to EWS students, with some foreign scholarships too. In psychology, labs were well developed. I wished they had a good crowd.

Placements: Last year, the average package of the placement was 4 LPA. The highest packet was 10 LPA. Companies like EY and Delta visited the college for placements. There are some internships also for first and second-year students. In my course, 10 students got placements.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are available for both Indian and foreign students. The hstel has a capacity of 120 students. Students get the hostel facility only in the first year. There is a mess facility also in which the menu changes daily. Wi-Fi facilities are also available.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is super. They provide the essentials to students like study materials, PYQs, and notes regarding the subject and many things. The course curriculum is very relevant. They work on the basis of the DU curriculum. Semesters are not very difficult. It is the same for all students.
Other: I chose this course because as per my knowledge, the data science and data analysis domains are blooming right now. This is the best course for that. I think there can be more practical regarding our subject. Events, fests, the crowd, activities, campus surroundings, scholarships, and extracurricular activities are very interesting. They provide a lot of opportunities to all the people. There are so many societies which are doing very well like Enactus, SRCASW, TEDx, NSS, and many more. There are two major fests.

The Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, North Campus.
Placements: The college only calls alumni and recruiters and arranges meetings with the students for placement. It's pretty much self-employment otherwise. Most students get jobs, but placements from the department itself account for a small number. After the master's course, you are sure to get a job once you clear the language level.
Infrastructure: The classes are okay, but the department is improving itself slowly, and we can see that many areas of the department are developing from when we first saw them. The condition of the desks, the water coolers, and the buildings is improving as well. The infrastructure overall is decent.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, but they don't have the responsibility to take charge of you. They can only advise you. The course only teaches you about the language and the culture of the language country you are learning about. It is easy to pass the exam because there are two semesters in which you have to participate, and you have extra subjects as well for which you have to attend classes in another department. This makes the exams easier to take.
Other: The department itself doesn't organize any fests or events. The freshers' event is also organized by the students. But the good thing is that you can attend any fest of the other colleges in the university. The surroundings of the department are in the North Campus, which is the hub for connectivity to every student.
