IPU MCA Eligibility & Highlights 2024
GGSIPU or IPU offers two-year MCA courses in a full-time mode. MCA course admission is offered based on NIMCET scores. However, if seats remain vacant after counselling based on the merit of NIMCET, IPU considers admission to MCA and MCA (Lateral Entry) programmes based on merit in IPU CET/CUET-PG. MCA is offered by GGSIPU via its 12 affiliated colleges. Moreover, the PG-level course is also offered in the second shift (evening) by a few IPU-affiliated colleges. Candidates seeking admission to MCA at IPU colleges must check the eligibility requirements. The applications of candidates who do not meet the criteria are treated as invalid. Given below are the minimum eligibility criteria for the IPU MCA eligibility and selection criteria:

As per the IP University 2023 brochure, the duration of all the MCA courses is two-year. The course is further divided into semester pattern. There are four semesters during the course. The syllabus might also be defined semester-wise. Candidates have to pass all the semester exams in order to get a MCA degree from IPU.
For Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University MCA admission, candidates need to appear for the NIMCET entrance test. IP University MCA (lateral) entry admission is based on the IPU CET entrance test. In case of vacant seats after counselling, GGSIPU will consider Common Entrance Test (CET), conducted by GGSIP University for MCA admission. Candidates can fill out the accepted exams form through the official website of the conducting bodies.
Furthermore, eligible candidates have to go to thr IPU official website to register and fill out the application form. All the details in the online application should be filled out as per the official documents. Also, application must be submitted within the prescribed due date.
For admission to MCA at IP University, an aspirant must have a valid BCA/BSc in Information Technology/ BSc in Computer Science degree and studied Mathematics in Class 12 or graduate level to be eligible. In addition, the candidate should have passed the degree course from a recognised university with a minimum of 55% aggregate.
The degree and pass certificates (original and copies) should be kept handy during the application form filling and admission process. These documents are required for verification purposes.
Aspirants are offered admission in MCA and MCA (Software Engineering) based on NIMCET, CET or CUET scores. GGSIPU considers NIMCET scores for first level of selection. In case the seats remain vacant after admission via NIMCET counselling, the university considers CET scores. The vacant seats after exhausting the merit list of CET are filled through the merit list of CUET. The applicants, if admitted, may have to study additional bridge courses as per the norms of the university. Selected candidates must pay the course fee to confirm their seat in the university.

The cutoff is determined based on the number of applicants, the highest score, seat availability and more such factors. Hence, it varies every year. In 2023, the cutoff dropped from 550 in 2022 to 804 in 2023 for the General-All India category in the last round. IPU MCA Admission 2024: How to Apply?
GGSIPU admission to the MCA course is offered based on merit in NIMCET/CUET-PG/IPU CET. Aspirants need to have a valid score in either of the accepted exams.You are advised to check the minimum qualification required. The step-by-step process is explained below:
1. GGSIPU MCA Application Process 2025
- The application procedure is carried out via online mode. Candidates are advised to check out the eligibility criteria for IP University MCA before registration. The step-wise IP University application process is below:
- Visit the official website of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (www.ipu.ac.in) and click on the 'Admission' tab and further click on 'Online Admission Form' from the drag-down menu.
- Read the instructions carefully, accept the declaration and click on 'Start' to proceed with the registration step of the application process.
- Select MCA from the programme drop-down menu and register with the candidate's name, email ID and contact number. Further, click on 'Non-CET' courses because MCA comes under the 'Non-CET' category courses.
- Candidates will receive an application sequence number, user ID and password for future logins and a link to the application form to proceed with further steps.
- In the first stage of the application form, enter personal details, such as name, parents' name, age, nationality, etc. Also, enter the present address information along with the permanent address.
- Fill in the essential qualification details, including the year of passing and the school/ institution attended.
- Upload the required documents and pay the prescribed application fee (INR 1,500).

2. Merit List
After the conclusion of the application process, the university shortlists candidates based on merit in NIMCET/CUET-PG/IPU CET. A cutoff list is published to indicate the minimum required marks for selection. Candidates with a score equal to or more than the cutoff marks become eligible for admission.
3. Counselling
Candidates who meet the cutoff need to further participate in the counselling round. It takes place for document verification and seat allotment. Candidates must have the necessary documents on the day of counselling with them. The counselling schedule is published on the university's official website.
4. Admission Confirmation
After the final selection, candidates can pay the required fee amount to confirm their seat.

In Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, better known as IPU or GGSIPU, there’s a 75 per cent reservation for Delhi students. Delhi students are those students who have completed their Class 12 from a school which is in Delhi. The remaining 25 per cent seats are for students from all over India. So, Delhi general refers to those students who passed their school from Delhi but are in the General category while All India general refers to the students who have passed their school from anywhere but Delhi and are from the General category.
IPU MCA Cutoff 2023
IP University releases cutoff list for MCA course. The cutoff marks can vary for each of the accepted entrance exams. In 2023, the IPU CET MCA cutoff was most competitive for MCA in Software Engineering with 804 followed by MCA at 968. However, the cutoff has dropped for both programmes in comparison to 2022. IPU MCA Curriculum
IP University MCA is a two-year programme, which is divided into four semesters. As a mandate by the statutory bodies, candidates undergo a three-week induction training at the beginning of the first semester. To get a degree, candidates need to earn a minimum of 104 credits. The complete course curriculum includes theory and practical subjects along with the project work. Depending upon the chosen specialisation (if any), the course curriculum varies.
