Everything you need to know about M.Sc. at NIT Rourkela.

Placements: My batch at the Department of Chemistry, NIT Rourkela, contains 52 students. Among them, 15 students are from the Integrated M.Sc. course, who are admitted through JEE Main rank, and the rest are from the lateral M.Sc. program, admitted through IIT JAM rank. 80% of students who opt for placements are placed in EdTech and software development fields according to their skills. The average package is 6 LPA. Top recruiters are AAKASH, PW, Narayana, Shri Chaitanya, Bakliwal Tutorials, etc. Four students receive Ph.D. offers from abroad.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure and lab facilities are almost all available at our college. All apparatus required for research work is also available. Hostels are pretty good, but the food is pathetic. The quality and taste are not up to the mark, and much improvement is required. Sports facilities are available, and all the required courts for games are also available.

Faculty: One of the best faculties for my course is available here. There are 23 faculty members in the Department of Chemistry, and all are well qualified. The course curriculum is good enough to help us crack exams like GATE and CSIR NET. We are also quite familiar with laboratory work, which helps us gain experience. Semester exams are of a moderate level and are well planned.

Other: 4 fests happen every year and they are very exciting. The campus life is excellent as we get a chance to interact with different people who belong to different states and even different countries. Some improvements are required regarding the food facility here. M.Sc. Chemistry at NIT Rourkela is a worthy course as faculty members are excellent and the course is much more knowledgeable.
