Pondicherry University's Integrated BA + MA in History is spread over ten semesters. At the end of the course duration, students must have secured a minimum of 192 credits for the award of the degree. To gain these credits, students have to study various hard and soft core courses each semester and pass the respective examinations. For passing each hard core course, students get 4 credits, and for passing each soft core course, 3 credits. Moreover, students are free to choose any course offered by other departments as a soft core during a particular semester.

Yes, Pondicherry University, starting in 2022 is enrolling students in its Integrated PG and PG courses via CUET UG and CUET PG exams, respectively.

• Central University Entrance Test (CUET) is an all-India level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission in UG courses offered in all the participating institutions. The exam is conducted in a computer-based mode for two hours. Originally CUCET was conducted by UGC in paper-pencil-based mode. • Central University Entrance Test (Postgraduate) or CUET PG is an all-India level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission to over 40 Central and other participating universities. The CUET PG is conducted once a year in 554 cities in India and 13 international cities. The exam is conducted in a computer-based mode for two hours. Till last year, the exam was known as Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). No, to get admitted into the Pondicherry University BTech course, students must have taken the CUET examination. For Computer Science & Engineering, students are required to take CUET Computer Science. For other specialisations, they must present a valid score in CUET Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry.

Up until 2021, MBA admissions at Pondicherry University were based on the CAT exam. Candidates were further shortlisted based on the scores obtained in the entrance exams and their performance in GD-PI. However, starting the admission year 2022-23 the university started accepting students via the CUET PG entrance exam. Those who appear and qualify the exam are allotted a seat for MBA at the Pondicherry University campus and affiliated colleges via university-level counselling.

Pondicherry University accepts CUET UG scores for admission to its BSc courses. However, not all BSc courses admission is done based on entrance exam scores. Admission to the M.A. English course at Pondicherry University is done on merit as well as the entrance exam. The entrance examination would comprise 100 Multiple Choice Questions of a general nature drawn from Undergraduate syllabi from Indian Universities.
