It is considered to be a good college as it is ranked 1001-1200 by the QS World University Rankings 2025 under the 'World University' category. Further,  SRM University Chennai Rankings include 4th rank by Outlook 2023 under the Engineering category,  4th rank by Times 2023 for BBA, and 11th rank by NIRF 2024 under the Architecture category.

While, the Median package offered by School of Science and Humanities, SRM IST, Chennai after completion of B.A. is INR 275,000 - INR 425,000. Basis these stats, Presidency College is better option compared to School of Science and Humanities, SRM IST, Chennai on the Median salary parameter.

Indian Academy Degree College and School of Science and Humanities, SRM IST, Chennai both are renowned universities for B.A. However, in terms of affordability, Indian Academy Degree College is a better option since the total tuition fee for Indian Academy Degree College is INR 204,000 and the total tuition fee for B.A. at School of Science and Humanities, SRM IST, Chennai is INR 18,000 - INR 255,000. However, in terms of affordability, VIT Vellore is a better option since the total tuition fee for VIT Vellore is INR 165,000 - INR 270,000 and the total tuition fee for B.Com at School of Science and Humanities, SRM IST, Chennai is INR 18,000 - INR 390,000. Here are some positive and negative points of SRM University: 

Positive:

1. Located in Chennai which is a metropolitan city. Three out of five campuses are located in Chennai
2. You can have a lot of fun
3. In KTR, there are a lot of opportunities provided to students to develop their profile like hundreds of clubs, teams like robocon, conrods, camber, and 4ze where students can build their own bots, cars and stuff. If you are really interested in your field then you can do anything in SRM
4. Canteen facilities are excellent
5. As far as placements are concerned, most students are placed in IT sector. Core companies also visit the campus but they select only one or two students. In a batch of 500600 students i.e. 1520 students are placed in core companies. But still that depends on your skills and we can’t blame the university for that.

Negative:

1. The student to faculty ratio is too high.
2. Faculty members are not very highly skilled, though they are postgraduates in their respective field. Most of them have completed M.Tech from other local colleges. There are very few from IITs and foreign universities.
3. The curriculum is old. 
4. The evaluation system is also not very good.
5. Very little research happens here. Most of the faculty members don’t have any publications
6. Also, if you have a lot of money you can join in management quota into any branch you want. Almost half of the students have joined in management quota.

SRM IST fee refund policy is based on UGC guidelines. Candidates get full refund at any time between the academic year of admission. Candidates are required to submit an application form signed by them t and their parent in person or online for refund. Candidates get refund to their bank provided in the refund request form. The refund will be processed by RTGS or NEFT.

School of Science and Humanities at SRM IST, Chennai is considered good choice for BSc offering research oriented, industry ready curriculum with solid placement support especially for top performers. It has a strong infrastructure.

Yes. SRMJEEE is mandatory for admission in SRMIST. However, to encourage and support students of exemplary talent, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) offers direct admission and scholarships to first rank students of all the central and state boards in India, top 10,000 rankers in IIT JEE, top rankers in each district of Tamil Nadu and exemplary sports persons at National and International level.

Both the colleges are equally good, but I will vote for Thapar University, Patiala because of the standard which the University has maintained since its establishment. I will try to distinguish between both colleges with the help of certain parameters:

• ADMISSION PROCESS: Thapar University admits its students on the basis of JEE main marks. Usually cutoff goes higher for Computer engineering (around 180). While SRM University conducts its own examination called SRMJEE.
• CAMPUS: SRM University has a very good and beautiful campus. Student intake is higher at SRM University. 
• Thaper don't have any management quota seat whereas SRM had few seats reserved for the management quota. The fee is almost similar in both colleges. And location-wise Chennai has the upper hand over Patiala.

No, SRM IST does not accept CUET score for admission to any of its UG & PG courses. The university conducts its in-house entrance exam for BTech and MTech, i.e., SRM JEE. Further, for admission to MBA course, the university accepts scores of national-level entrance exams such as GMAT, CAT, MAT, TANCE, etc. SRM University also offers direct admission to courses such as BA, MSc, etc., based on the merit of last qualifying exams of previous education.

During the SRM School of Management placement 2025, more than 525 MBA students registered for the process. Out of these, over 373 were placed in top-notch companies. SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana (SRMUH) and Galgotias University both are renowned universities for B.A. However, in terms of affordability, SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana (SRMUH) is a better option since the total tuition fee for SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana (SRMUH) is INR 165,000 and the total tuition fee for B.A. at Galgotias University is INR 138,000 - INR 231,000. In the total fees that students generally end up paying the university or the college, various other components are also included, such as the exam fee, application fee, lab and other charges.

Candidates who withdraw their admission and seeking for fee refund at SRM University, must contact the admission office of the university and go through the refund policies. As per the details collated from the unofficial sources, candidates can also donwload the refund form from the official website. After filling the form and attaching the relevant documents, the form can be submitted to the SRM university admin department main campus.

SRM University accepts XAT, MAT scores. To get into the institute it is necessary for the candidates to score at least 50 percentile for which they will selection under XAT. Further, MBA cutoff for XAT and MAT exam stood at 50 and 80, respectively, for the open category candidates.
