
AAT 2026 Counselling: AAT 2026 counselling will be done by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority after the AAT results are announced. AAT 2026 Results will be announced on June 7, 2026. Candidates who qualify in AAT must participate in the counselling process. Steps of JoSAA Counselling and Seat Allotment 2026
Steps to be registered for JoSAA 2026 counselling and seat allotment.
Registration - Candidates must visit official website of JoSAA 2026 and log in using JEE Main roll number and JEE Advanced password. Next, candidates must check existing information and confirm if there are no mistakes.
Choice Filling - After checking details, candidates must select choice of course and college in order of preference. Since BArch is available only in IIT Kharagpur, IIT Varanasi and IIT Roorkee, candidates will have to keep order of selection as per preference.
Mock Allotment - Two rounds of mock allotment will be held to let candidates know possible allotment as per current order of preference and rank. Re-arrangement of preferences can be done by the candidates.
Seat Allotment - Candidates will be able to check seat allotment result in online mode. After checking the result, the candidates will have to confirm admission.
Payment of Fee -To confirm admission, candidates will have to pay seat acceptance fee.
Reporting at Centre - Next, the candidates will have to report to their respective JoSAA 2026 reporting centres for document verification.

JoSAA will prepare AAT cutoff, which will be released as JoSAA 2026 admission cutoffs. The opening and closing ranks for admissions into participating institutes for BArch admissions will be released through JoSAA/AAT 2026 cutoff. JoSAA counselling is usually held in 5 or 6 rounds. The admission process for admissions in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 40 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs) will be done by JoSAA in various rounds deending on various factors. In these rounds, candidates are allotted seats based on their JEE Main or JEE Advanced rank and preferences filled by them during registration. Candidates who are allotted seats have to either accept or float the seat.
The JoSAA reporting date means the date at which candidates allotted a seat must report to the institute. The reporting date can be checked on the seat allocation letter.

Seat acceptance fee is not refundable. But, if a candidate withdraws seat or the seat is cancelled, then the fee will be refunded, after the processing fee is deducted.
The filling-in of choices on the online portal is free of cost. The candidate must pay the seat acceptance fee before continuing with the JoSAA process till the end to avail the seat in an IIT or NIT. The documents uploaded by the candidate will not be verified unless the candidate pays the seat acceptance fee. General/Open category candidates are required to pay a fee of INR 35,000, whereas SC, Gen-PwD, ST, OBC-NCL-PwD, ST-PwD, and SC-PwD have to pay INR 17,500. The fees will be included in the semester fees once students confirm their admission.
