I belong to a family where everyone came from a commerce background. I had always been inspired by my elders, and I too chose Commerce as my stream for class 11.
There are 18 CA's in my family and my family members were counting me to be the 19th one, but I refused.
There are 18 CA's in my family and my family members were counting me to be the 19th one, but I refused. I didn’t want to follow them, instead, I wanted to pursue my studies in a field where I could perform well.
When I visited Oakbrook Business School for MBA inquiry, I was astonished by seeing the campus structure – it was the college which I had always dreamt of. The facility provided by the college is fabulous.
I gathered information about the college and got to know about the support provided by faculty members, organisation of conclaves, seminars, industrial visits – all this inspired me even more to choose this college for my further studies.
Explore colleges based on CMAT
Before enrolling in the college, I interacted with the ex-students of the college. Each one of them gave me a positive response about the college. Also, they told me about the various activities that were held from time to time to ensure industry exposure.
Events like Sports day, Annual day etc. are also celebrated in the college. I believe that MBA is mostly about overall development. It is not only limited to academic knowledge, rather it focuses on the practical applicability of things too.
How I cracked college admission
I have done my graduation in BBA. I was not interested in opting for coaching for CMAT while pursuing BBA due to the long coaching hours which would in return disturb my graduation. After my graduation was complete, I decided to drop a year and prepare for CMAT so that I could score well. However, when I visited Oakbrook Business School and enquired about MBA admissions, I was told that I could get an admission in MBA even without having appeared for CMAT under management quota – this helped me save my 1 year.
What I gained from my college years
MBA is a professional course where you are guided by your professors to face the market situations and practical exposure of market is provided by the college. I experienced all this in my college. I used to reach college by 8.30, and I spent half an hour in the canteen discussing about the topics that will be taught by the teachers in the upcoming lectures.
I love the sessions of accounting and Marketing most. Here, we could learn the things that were actually happening in market. Also, I like to attend soft skill sessions by experts. I made sure that I take part in every activity which includes stage hosting and event management. I used to take part in the extra sessions arranged by college or the sessions which were a part of college activities.
My college has changed me from a lazy person to an individual who can now easily manage her time. Today, I am a girl who can study and stay in college for more than 8 hours, and can manage maximum in minimum resources. I have transformed into a confident girl who does not have any stage fear now. Also, I feel that my presentation skills are improving day by day. My guides are teaching me to overcome my weaknesses. My college is helping me improve tremendously.

While CMAT is the primary route, RGPV may occasionally admit based on merit in graduation if seats remain vacant after all CMAT-qualified candidates are placed through College Level Counselling.

MAT and CMAT both are moderately difficulty exam, but have their own challenges. While, CMAT has one extra section Innovation and Entrepreneurship, MAT has a separate section for Data Interpretation having 30 questions. With focused preparation, you can crack either of the two that you choose.

CMAT cutoff refers to minimum percentile required for admission to a particular college. Score accepting colleges determine the cut offs individually based on certain parameters. CMAT cut offs for top colleges like JBIMS, SIMSREE, PUMBA are generally 99 percentile and above.

CMAT total marks is 400. It is usually considered that scoring 270 to 300 marks can convert into good percentile, about 99 percentile. Around 200 marks can get you 90 percentile which is also good if you are targeting private colleges.

There is no passing mark in CMAT exam, as admission is based on cut offs determined by colleges. A candidate scoring more than 0 in CMAT is eligible for admission will be selected only if they meet minimum cut off.

No, GIM Goa does not accept CMAT scores for its PGDM programs for admissions. It only accepts CAT or XAT exam score. CAT score of previous year is accepted and XAT score of current year is accepted.

No, CMAT scores are not compulsory for admissions into the MBA course at NSUT. Even CMAT scores are not the first priority of the admission committee to shortlist the students. Because the university considers the scores of CAT/ MAT for selecting the students. If the seats get vacant, then only CMAT
