No, SET exam does not have negative marking. Each question in SET exam carries one mark and if answer is incorrect, no marks will be awarded for that question.

SET 2026 PI: What Panellists Evaluate?
SET Personal Interview round is the final round for the Symbiosis SET selection process. The PI round is conducted after the WAT round and the duration is roughly about 10 to 15 minutes. Panellists evaulate each and everything when a student walks into the interview room. When called, students should walk confidently and wish the panellists. They should hand over their files and seek permission before sitting. Panellists will scan through the resume or profile of the students and may ask questions.
The panellists will start by asking generic questions such as their academic background, hobbies, interests, goals, etc. It is a good idea to be prepared with the answers to generic questions like Why did you choose BBA? or Where do you see yourself in 10 years? or What inspired you to build a career in management? or What do you think sets you apart from the other candidates? or Why do you want to join Symbiosis?, etc.
In case students face a question which they do not know the answer to, they can politely tell them that they do not know the answer and would be more than willing to learn or read about it. It is important to remain confident and maintain composure at all times. Even if the interviewers cross question, candidates should not get nervous. In case students do not understand a question they were asked, they can smile and ask the interviewer to kindly repeat it.
Candidates should not interrupt the interviewers while they are speaking, and listen to them carefully and let them finish.
Short and simple answers will suffice. The above pointers should help you breeze through your interview with ease. A very frequently asked question pertains to the weightage given to the SET scores and the PI-WAT scores. They are both given equal importance. 50% of SET score combined with 50% of PI-WAT score will be the final SET score.
Students should carry all the necessary documents required and they should double-check before they go to the venue for the interview. They can keep one or two photocopies of the all the documrents in case they ask for it during the admission process.
Commonly asked questions
To understand the exam pattern and SET question paper, SET mock test is conducted before the SET exam. The mock test will be available on the SET official website at least two days before the exam date. Candidates must know that it is mandatory for the registered candidates planning to appear for the SET exam to take the SET mock test. To know how to appear for the SET mock test follow the steps mentioned below:
- Visit the official website of SET
- In the topmost bar, click on Mock Test button
- Candidates will be redirected to a new webpage
- Login using the email ID and password which the candidates used to register themselves for the SET exam
- After login, candidates will be redirected to a new window where they will have a set of instructions that they need to follow
- Click on the tab indicating Mock Test after reading the instructions carefully and take the test.
SET mock tests are conducted to prepare the students for the exam day. The scores obtained by the candidates in SET mock test are not taken into consideration for the final SET result. The SET mock test is a practice test. These scores do not have any bearings with the final SET exam scores or admission to the Symbiosis institutes.
Students should take the mock test to assess their preparation levels and analyzing weaknesses.
Three out of the four sections of the SET exam namely, General English, Quantitative Aptitude and General Knowledge, have equal weightage. Each question carries one mark for correct attempt. There is neither a negative marking for incorrectly marked answers nor there is marks deduction for unanswered question. The last section of the SET exam, i.e. Analytical and Logical Reasoning carries the least weightage. There are only 12 questions in this section which carry one mark each. The marking scheme of all the four sections is the same. Given below is the sectional weightage of SET exam.
- General English: 16 questions, 16 marks
- General Knowledge: 16 questions, 16 marks
- Quantitative Aptitude: 16 questions, 16 marks
- Analytical and Logical Reasoning: 12 questions, 12 marks
One should prepare well for all the sections of the SET exam. If you will score equally well in every section, only then will your overall score will be good. Also, many colleges consider sectional scores as well for admission shortlist so it is important to perform equally well in all sections of SET.
The SET mock test will be available online on the official website of SET. The mode of conduction will be the same as the actual SET exam. Candidates who have successfully registered for the SET exam and paid the application fee can take the mock test once they have downloaded the SET admit card. The mock test will be conducted to familiarize the students with the exam pattern and prepare the students with the time-based exam and help them tackle the time limit. Students must login at least ten minutes prior to take the mock exam. To login, students can use their User ID and Password which they received on the registered email ID.

Following things should be kept in mind at all times:
- Do not speak wrong. If the candidate does not know the answer, they can simply inform that to the panel
- Do not try to bluff
- Avoid slang
- Be in a formal dress code
- Do your research before the interview
