A short review for upcoming M.Sc. students in IIT Kharagpur.
Placements: I am a student of M.Sc. . Mathematics at IIT Kharagpur (batch of 2025). Generally, placements in the mathematics department are very good because M.Tech in CSDP is also included in the mathematics department. But 90 percent of M.Sc. students in mathematics who opt for placements get placed in various EdTechs or IT sectors, depending on there interest. In Edtechs Sri Chaitanya, Unacademy, Byju's, etc., students get placed there for around CTC 10–12 LPA. Some of the motivated students (including my seniors and batchmates) study data science, data analytics, and software development on their own and get placed at IBM, Google, TCS, Siemens, Amazon, and various HFTs for CTC 15, 20 LPA. But most of the placements in our department happen in the EdTech industry. Lastly, we have a mandatory 2-month summer internship program. Many of our seniors got internships in the IT sector, while others opted for academic internships. You can have a paid or unpaid internship, depending on the institute or company.
Infrastructure: You can do anything on your mind, and you will get top-notch facilities here. Cricket, football, swimming, tennis, squash. It's basically a never-ending list, and the craze for GC (competition between hostels) is immense. Also, we have a tournament called SHAURYA, where various institutions from West Bengle participate, and IIT KGP hosts the tournament. Facilities are not limited to sports only; you can also join instrumental music, sing, dance, play or anything else and also participate in inter-IIT competitions. And you can also join various clubs in Gymkhana. In short, you name something and you will find that there are many restaurants on campus as well. In new hostels, you will get single rooms with centralized AC, washing machines on every floor, centralized toilets, and bathrooms that get cleaned every day. In old hostels, you won't have access to AC, and you also have to share rooms with one or two roommates (depending on your luck). The quality of food in canteens is good; some of the night canteens are very famous for there food (JC Bose, VS, RK, etc.). The taste of mess food is basically a lottery case; some days it's good and some days it's terrible. But they use quality products that's ensured by boarders who have to do there mess duties. And you will find many restaurants on campus. And you will get free medicine from Frank Cross Pharmacy with the prescription of BC Roy Hospital (inside campus) if you are ill.
Faculty: Every teacher is highly qualified in IIT's and it reflects in there lectures. They are very helpful, and you can have discussions at any time with their convenience. They teach us what is helpful and relevant for our future (various exams or a PhD). You can not complain much about faculty members at any IIT (with a few exceptions, obviously). But exams are on the tougher side for every paper and the grading system for every teacher also varies. There are midterm and endterm examinations and you will not be given any study leave or gaps between exams.
Other: I was motivated to study mathematics; that's why I came here. You have access to one of Asia's biggest libraries and some of the best teachers in our country, that's for sure. Also, the campus life of IIT KGP is awesome; everyone knows about Springfest, the biggest fest in Southeast Asia and the biggest Techfest in India, where you can participate in various hackathons, robotics, AI competitions, etc. If you are an M.Sc. student, you can get an assistantship of 1000 INR per month, or you can apply for any state scholarship (Domicile of West Bengal) or central scholarship.

A honest review from my end.
Placements: Last year, 3 students sat for the placements and three of them got placed in good companies. You can sit for various roles like software developer, data analyst, tutor in prestigious coaching institute and private colleges also. A good package was offered here last year, i.e. 18 LPA.
Infrastructure: There is no doubt that IIT has best infrastructure. Hostel facilities are good but as it is one of the oldest IITs, so there are some old hostels with small rooms and there is no AC at all in any hostel. Also, they have so many issues with accommodation right now as they are not able to finish the construction of new hostels so they have forced 4 students to live in a single room. Wi-Fi is present all over the hostel.
Faculty: The course curriculum’s pressure is so hectic. Recently, they have changed the curriculum and added so many interesting things which are going to help in us during placements as well as during competitive exams.

It is one of the best colleges in India
Placements: The college provides 100% placements. Top companies include Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Uber, Sprinklr, JP Morgan, Flipkart, Google, etc. Almost100% of students got internships in Goldman Sachs, Microsoft and Google. IITs are known for providing students with optimus to grab high salary packages and good positions in some well-respected firms across the globe.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was far better than most of the colleges, and it provides proper opportunities to learn and grow. Classrooms and library are well equipped with resources to help students to learn. The canteen and medical facilities are not great or not bad. The taste of the food served here has local food taste.
Faculty: Faculty members were more encouraging and highly knowledgeable, and I had a wonderful learning experience from them. Their teaching methods are unique. They explain everything from basics so to provide a good foundation to students. The course curriculum is great.

Kgp Ka tempo high ha, it's the best institute of technology and Science of India.
Placements: If anyone is trying to get a good placement with good package they must take admission to IIT Kharagpur. It's the best institute to give placement. Anyone want to get a good post like senior analyst or software developer it's a nice platform for them. From our batch maximum students were applied for Ph.D. but 6 students were placed with maximum salary 10 lacks per annum at TCS.
Infrastructure: Full campus Wi-Fi connectivity and Lawns are there at the hostel. The central classrooms are digital and full AC and the library is one of the biggest library in India which includes digital library and over 1 lacks of book collection of different books. Campus includes the free of cost medical facilities and highly qualified doctor so not to worry about the disease. All the hostel provides the games and sports facilities and once in year there is interest IIT competition any one with proper quality can take part. I can't say about all the hostel rooms but our hostel LBS was new so their room was more then enough for three students per room and provides 24 hours of water, washing machine and mess at ground and first floor whose food quality is quite nice and higenic. Its the proper place to study and as well as enjoyment.
Faculty: Course are designed for basically NET and GATE exam and Ph.D. level. Offcourse the faculty are highly qualified and maximum professor helps 24 hours. They are like friends any one can go for asking any doubts at any time when they are at the department. There are 35+ faculty in the department of mathematics.
Other: Spring Fest, kshitij are the most rated fest of IIT kgp. Many students across India come her to perticicipate the event. There are many events cultural, social, food anyone can have nice life here.

To prepare your life and looking for an all round education then opt this college.
Placements: The placements were decent even in a bad market (Demonization year). I got placed on day 8 in a govt research and development body. Most of the people got placed, and the rest easily managed off-campus placements. An IIT degree has a great brand value, if you are skilled don't worry about getting a job.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is best in the country. Well provisioned hostels, infrastructure, excellent teaching facilities, several sports facilities like football, cricket, hockey grounds and well maintained green campus. The college has good hangout places, a CCD and a subway.
Faculty: The faculty is dependent on the department. The maths department has some good faculty members. There are good labs and computing is also taught in the course, which contains computer science courses like the database, operating systems, object-oriented designing etc.
Other: The academic pressure also depends on the department. It has good hostel culture and no ragging. There are a lot of food options, many canteens and places to eat as well. It is a great place to learn and have fun.
