IIT Roorkee Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility & Selection

Yes, IIT Roorkee offers around three scholarships, including Merit-Cum-Means (MCM), James Thomason Scholarship, INSPIRE Scholarship IITR. Apart from this, the institute also offers several fee waivers and assistantships on need and merit basis. Presently, IIT Roorkee offers more than 65 UG, PG and doctoral degree courses.  It awards the degree of BTech, MTech, MSc, BArch, MBA, MSc, PhD along with a couple of integrated and dual degree courses in the fields of Engineering, Science, Architecture, Management and Social Sciences. IIT Roorkee has recently introduced two new postgraduate programmes (PGP), namely- Masters in Design (Industrial Design) and Masters in Innovation Management (MIM). 

Yes, at the research level, IIT Roorkee offers a PhD programme in both full-time and part-time modes across the streams of Science, Engineering & Technology, Management Studies, and Architecture & Planning. As per the details collated from various sources on the internet, PhD admission to IIT Roorkee is subject to a valid score in one among UGC NET/  CSIR NET/ JRF, institute-level written test followed by a Personal Interview round

To be eligible for MBA programme offered at IIT Roorkee, candidates need to possess a graduation degree/ professional qualification in any stream from a UGC-recognised university with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates). Final year students are also eligible to apply. The course is offered by the B-school under IIT Roorkee, namely DOMS IIT Roorkee. 

For last year, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering was 5075 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission in IIT Roorkee.

The IIT Roorkee cutoff 2024 has been released for Round 5 for BTech, Integrated BTech and BArch courses in the form of opening and closing ranks. As per cutoffs 2024, JEE Advanced rank is 19885 for the IIT Roorkee BArch course for General AI category. For female candidates in the general category under the All India quota, 19354 was the closing rank. 

For 2022 and 2023, the Round 5 closing cutoff was 17464 and 20728, respectively for the General category students. So, comparing the 2024 Round 5 cutoff with the previous years, IIT Roorkee witnessed a fluctuating trend for BArch. 

IIT Roorkee cutoff 2025 has been announced for admission across multiple specialisations for the Round 4 seat allotment results based on opening and closing ranks. The opening and closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For general category under All India, opening rank range at 41 and closing rank is 229. Admission to MSc specialisations at IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam IIT Jam, which should be between 41 and 229, scoring a rank of 400 in IIT Jam in not sufficient to get admission to the institute.

IIT Roorkee offers a four-year BTech programme across 11 specialisations along with a five-year integrated BTech + MTech programmes across two specialisations. The BTech course is the flagship programme of IIT Roorkee. The selection of candidates for the IIT Roorkee BTech programme is based on their JEE Advanced score. To be eligible for the same, aspirants must have completed their Class 12 with a valid score.

The centralised counselling process is managed and regulated by the JoSAA, based on which the candidates are allotted seats. In order to apply for BTech and Integrated MTech at IIT Roorkee, students are required to apply via JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced. The process of applying for JEE Mains 2025 consists of three steps: registration, form filling, and document upload, followed by payment of application fees.

To get into IIT Roorkee, students must target a maximum rank of up to 3569 for BTech admission for the OBC AI category. The lower the cutoff rank, the higher the probability of getting the top B.Tech. branch for admission. The required cutoff rank varies for different rounds, courses, specialisations and categories. CAT exam usually takes place in the month of November. The registration has starts from August and the last date of application is auntil September.

IIT Roorkee accepts UCEED exam scores for admission to BDes courses at IIT Roorkee. The cutoff for BDes is released category-wise throughout different rounds. The last-round closing rank for BDes at IIT Roorkee, for the General AI category candidates was closed at 110. For the OBC AI candidates, the last-round closing rank for BDes admission was closed at 65. 

IIT Roorkee DOMS MBA fee is INR 20,000- INR 8 lakh. The fee components like tuition fee, examination fees, training fees, etc. 

DOMS IIT Roorkee considers CAT score for admission to flagship course i.e. MBA. Besides, students are also evaluated based on their academic performance, work experience and performance in the personal interview round. The institute conducts a PI round to select candidates for EMBA programme. DOMS IIT Roorkee shortlists aspirants for PhD course based on GATE, JEST, UGC NET, etc. scores. 

Through JEE Advanced ranks, candidates can secure admission to BTech courses. With regards to the admission, the IIT Roorkee cutoff 2025 has been released for the first round by the institute. The cutoff was released for different categories under the All India quota. For the General AI category candidates, the cutoff ranks varied between 535 and 16596, for different BTech/Integerated BTech/BSc/BArch courses. For 2023, cut off was 2037 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Electrical Engineering in IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology.
