The initial dates of the semester beginning and registration for M.Tech at IIT BHU usually happen in July. The registration initiates in July, around the 15th, and the start of the classes is held in the last week of July.

As part of the admission procedure, the prospective candidates must also take a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). However, BTech qualified in IITs with an overall CGPA of 8.00 or above in 10 point scale are exempted with regard to the GATE and are directly eligible to the process. It is also worth mentioning that the minimum eligibility requirements are as well mandatory to the candidates who would like to join IIT BHU MTech programme in 2025.

IIT BHU does provide combined programmes of BTech and M.Tech in many specialisation. These programmes enable the students to pursue both their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a combined format. The admission requirements to such integrated courses frequently have a minimum of 75% board examination marks (or equivalent) in Class 12 (or equivalent) besides other conditions.

IIT BHU admissions are done solely on the basis of entrance tests as prescribed by the state/national norms. The students who wants to get admission into BHU IIT, Varanasi must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the course. They must appear and clear the JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams to qualify for further admission process. For the BTech course admission students must complete class 12th from recognised board with minimum 75% marks. Then they must appear for JoSAA councelling process. 

Yes, IIT BHU offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to 25% undergraduate students. Besides, there are several endowment scholarships offered by the Institute. Some other facilities are also provided to undergraduate students in the form of Institute free studentship, scholarships, reimbursement of mess charges and pocket allowances to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. All the students (non-sponsored) admitted to M.Tech or MPharm programmes are provided financial assistance equivalent to the Junior Research Fellowships. The institute also offers a large number of Junior/Senior Research Fellowships to students admitted to PhD programmes.
