NIT Agartala BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2026

NIT Agartala BTech is a four-year duration in seven streams. Admission to this programme is completely entrance-based. National Institute of Technology Agartala offers admission to the BTech course based on JEE Main score followed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. The institute-specific qualifying cutoff is announced after the declaration of JEE Main results to manage the seat allotment process.

The course is offered in different specialisations, such as computer science engineering, electrical engineering, production engineering, etc. BTech students who are selected through JoSAA would receive communication from NIT Agartala. Given below is the minimum eligibility criteria for the course:

Eligibility: Class 12 (Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology as an optional subject) with at least 75% aggregate.

NIT Agartala BTech Admission Dates 2026

The admission cycle for NITs commences with the release of JEE applications. Registrations for session-1 generally starts in Oct and the window close by Nov. While the session 2 registrations are carried out in Feb. JEE Main session-1 exam is conducted in Jan and session-2 in Apr. NIT Agartala BTech Admission 2026: How to Apply?

Admission to the BTech courses is entrance-based. Before applying for NIT Agartala course admissions, aspirants must check out the eligibility criteria. The steps to be followed for the NIT Agartala BTech admissions are:

STEP 1: NIT Agartala BTech Application Process 2026

For the National Institute of Technology Agartala BTech admission, candidates must visit the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) to apply for JEE Main. The step-wise application process for JEE Main are given below:

1.1: Open the official website.

1.2: Click on the “JEE Main Registration” link.

1.3: Fill in the required details and click on the “Submit” button to complete the registration. After the completion of the JEE Main registration process, candidates will receive an email and message in their registered email ID and mobile phone number with details of the application form number and password. Candidates will need to keep safe/save the details of registration.

1.4: After completion of registration, candidates will be redirected to the page for filling out the detailed application form. In this step, candidates have to provide details of educational qualifications, parents' details, address of communication and permanent address, and exam centre preference.

1.5: Upload scanned images of passport-size photographs and signature

1.6: Pay the application fee

1.7: The application form will be automatically submitted after the successful payment of application fees.

STEP 2: Exam & Selection

The registered students need to take the JEE Main exam and secure a good score. Candidates who meet the cutoff become eligible for admission. The selected students can take part in counselling for seat allotment.

STEP 3: Seat Confirmation

College is overall good. If you get better branch only then join it. Otherwise don't.

Placements: About 80 percent students from my branch got placed. The highest package from NIT Agartala is 52 LPA and average package is just 8 LPA. Those who have connection with seniors will only get placement. Not everyone. Almost all branches are available here.

Infrastructure: As my branch is Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, I have to study in the same building as CSE branch building. Infrastructure of classroom, labs and library are good. With AC in library, but only problem is Wi-Fi. Sometimes we are able to use Wi-Fi. Sometimes can't.

Faculty: For the first year students, mostly teachers are Ph.D. scholars. So not so much qualified and experienced to teach students. So most of the students have to study everything from YouTube for semester exams. Exam is quite easy to solve. Almost all students got passed.

Other: I choose this course to get good placement. I work hard and improve my skills to get better job opportunity.

Good infrastructure and one of the most beautiful NITs.

Placements: The placements for the year 2025 to 26 are very good and satisfying. The campus placement is happening all year round for final year students. Placements are much better for CSE and circuit branches compared to the core branches. Approximately 80 percent of eligible students get placed every year by different companies such as Google, Amazon, Oracle, PayPal, JSW, Sigmoid etc. The average placement for CSE is about 11 LPA and for core branches is about 8 LPA.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college is very good. Facilities provided here are Wi-Fi, water, and a lift all of which are very good except the mess for the first year, but it also becomes good as you enter the second year. There is a huge sports complex with all the facilities like a basketball court, badminton court, table tennis, gym, swimming pool, etc.

Faculty: Faculty and syllabus are same as in other NITs. They provide a chance for first year students to change their branch according to CGPA in the first year. Some processors are supportive and very good while others just come to the class, solve something on the board and leave after 1 hour. Semester exams are not so difficult if you study continuously then you can get a 9 cgpa very easily. I did not get 9.

Other: One thing that I want to add is that this college is very beautiful you will love the nature here absolutely pollution free, clear sky and those sunsets (uff) but there is a catch here you will miss city life here because Agartala city is about 20 km from the college and you can't go their daily but there is a good thing also, there is a shopping complex in the college itself where you get almost all the things that you need.

About NIT, how it will be.

Placements: About placement, around 80 to 85% students get placed every year. The highest package was about 48 LPA, and the lowest was 5 LPA. The recruiting companies are Google, Amazon, Microsoft, TCS, etc. There are many internships also on the campus; you can get one by giving an interview.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was very good. The campus had fast Wi-Fi and many grounds and sports rooms. There were many different types of departments on the campus. The quality of the hostel was also good, and in the canteen, the food quality was okay, but it could be improved.

Faculty: Teachers were very experienced and knowledgeable. Their teaching was good. About the semester exam, it was hard. You should prepare well for it. The pass percentage was around 80 to 90%. The course made students ready for the industry, and overall, it is good.

The best college across India for placement and college life.

Placements: Around 85-90 percent of students get placed every year. The highest package was about 50 LPA, and the lowest package was around 3 LPA to 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Amazon, Google, PayPal, Microsoft, etc. The top roles offered were software engineer, etc.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure and facilities were excellent in every department. We had multiple labs, fast Wi-Fi, and a big library. Hostel facilities were also good. We had big grounds for different sports and games. The food quality was also good, but it could be improved.

Faculty: Teachers were very friendly towards students. They were well qualified and very knowledgeable. The teaching quality was nice. It made students ready for the industry. The exams were hard, but we could score good marks by studying the syllabus. The pass percentage was about 88 to 90%.

Other: I chose this course because I wanted to become a software engineer. There were many events that will be celebrated in the college.

Many companies come to our college, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, etc. The highest package last year was 68 LPA. There were many opportunities for internships if you had good skills compared to other students and also had a decent CG of at least above 8.5. Microsoft also came last year and picked two girls from an idea in Agartala.

Infrastructure: There is a big library on the campus with enough books for every subject, and literature and novels are also available. Classrooms depend on the building in which your classes are held. Science block classes are not very good, but in the CSE and the new freshers’ building started this year, the classrooms are very good. There are a lot of clubs. In the hostel, there are two beds in a room with double accommodation, tube lights, and fans. The food is average, but the quality is good.

Faculty: There are many faculty members for each subject, and they are friendly and understanding toward students. Some students have difficulties with the pronunciation of some faculty members, as students are from all over India. Exams, class tests, quizzes, and viva are regularly conducted to check the performance of each student. In the 1st year, all students have a common syllabus across all branches, but I do not understand why a Computer Science student should learn about graphics.
