NID DAT application 2026 forms are closed now for B.Des and M.Des. The last date to fill out the registration form was December 01, 2025. Candidates can go through the steps to fill NID DAT application along with the list of documents to upload and the application fee to pay for NID admissions.

The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the exam dates for NID DAT 2026 exam. The Window to edit the Application form is closed now. It was open from December 02, 2025, till December 04, 2025, for B.Des and M.Des. Candidates can use their email ID, date of birth and password to edit the application form.

The NID DAT 2026 application form was open online till December 01, 2025. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can fill the NID DAT 2026 application form before the last date.  

The National Institute of Design will conduct the NID DAT 2026 exam on December 21, 2025. The exam will be conducted in a pen-and-paper mode. On the day of the exam, make sure to bring the admit card and a photo ID proof. Without these documents, the candidate will not be allowed inside the NID DAT 2026 exam center. The reporting time, exam timings, roll number, and other important updates about the exam will be mentioned in the NID DAT 2026 admit card

Based on a candidate's performance in NID DAT 2026 (Prelims), they will be called for DAT Mains.

Steps to Fill NID DAT 2026 Application Form

Candidates need to go through the steps to successfully fill NID application form.

Step 1: Fill in details in the ‘Signup’ form and thereafter log in to NID official website. To sign up, provide details such as their reservation category, nationality, name, email ID and mobile number.

Step 2: Fill in personal and educational details in the NID application form. Candidates applying for MDes admission need to include their work experience as well in their application form.

Step 3: Next, upload the supporting documents such as a photograph, signature, caste/PwD certificate, etc.

Step 4: Finally, pay the application fee either online or offline through Demand Draft. Once the payment has been made successfully then take a clear print of their NID application.

Q:   What details and documents are required to fill the NID application form?
A:

While filling out the NID application form, candidates have to enter their personal, academic, and personal information. They are also required to upload a photograph and signature, and caste Certificate if applicable. In case of candidates seeking admission under reserved categories, they also need to upload a category Certificate. PwD category candidates will also have to upload the relevant Certificate.

The category and PwD certificates should be in PDF format and max 2 MB.

Meanwhile, the photograph and signature should in JPG/JPEG format and within 75-100 KB.

Q:   What is the application fee for NID DAT?
A:

The application fee of NID DAT 2026 for the B. Des for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. If two disciplines are chosen, the application fee is INR 6000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PwD candidate need to pay INR 1,500 for one discipline, and INR 3000 for two disciplines.

A:

NID DAT application form is closed for 2026-2027.

To register for NID DAT, candidate has to 

  1. Get registered:  Candidate had to get registered using their email ID and mobile number.
  2. Log-in and fill the form - Fill in all the necessary sections in the form: academic, personal, and contact details. Also, select an exam centre of your choice.
  3. Upload documents - Follow specified format and specification when uploading documents like photographs and signatures.
  4. Pay the exam fee to complete the application process. NID DAT 2026 fee is expected to be around Rs. 3000 for open, and Rs. 1500 for reserved-category candidates. A late fee of 50% more than can be charged by NID for registration if the application forms are not filled out after the deadline.

NID Studio Test for M.Des carries 40% of wieghtage and Interview carries 60% wieghtage. More emphasis is given on the interview by NID.

No, there is no negative marking in the NID Studio Test. Candidates will be evaluated based on their thinking and creative skills. Studio Test will carry 40% of the total Marks for the NID Mains Exam.
