NID DAT application 2026 forms are open now for B.Des and M.Des. The last date to fill out the registration form is December 01, 2025. Candidates can go through the steps to fill NID DAT application along with the list of documents to upload and the application fee to pay for NID admissions.
The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the exam dates for NID DAT 2026 exam. The NID DAT 2026 application form is open online till December 01, 2025. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can fill the NID DAT 2026 application form before the last date. The National Institute of Design will conduct the NID DAT 2026 exam on December 21, 2025. The exam will be conducted in a pen-and-paper mode. On the day of the exam, make sure to bring the admit card and a photo ID proof. Without these documents, the candidate will not be allowed inside the NID DAT 2026 exam center. The reporting time, exam timings, roll number, and other important updates about the exam will be mentioned in the NID DAT 2026 admit card.

The NID DAT application form is open now for 2026-2027.
To fill the form, the candidate has to
- Get registered - The candidate had to get registered using their email ID and mobile number.
- Log-in and fill the form - Next, fill in all the necessary sections in the form: academic, personal, and contact details. Also, select an exam centre of your choice.
- Upload documents - Follow the specified format and specification when uploading documents like photographs and signatures.
- Pay the exam fee to complete the application process. The NID DAT 2026 fee is expected to be around Rs. 3000 for open, and Rs. 1500 for reserved-category candidates. A late fee of 50% more than can be charged by NID for registration if the application forms are not filled out after the deadline.
While filling out the NID application form, candidates have to enter their personal, academic, and personal information. They are also required to upload a photograph and signature, and caste Certificate if applicable. In case of candidates seeking admission under reserved categories, they also need to upload a category Certificate. PwD category candidates will also have to upload the relevant Certificate.
The category and PwD certificates should be in PDF format and max 2 MB.
Meanwhile, the photograph and signature should in JPG/JPEG format and within 75-100 KB.
Based on a candidate's performance in NID DAT 2026 (Prelims), they will be called for DAT Mains.

Candidates need to go through the steps to successfully fill NID application form.
Step 1: Fill in details in the ‘Signup’ form and thereafter log in to NID official website. To sign up, provide details such as their reservation category, nationality, name, email ID and mobile number.
Step 2: Fill in personal and educational details in the NID application form. Candidates applying for MDes admission need to include their work experience as well in their application form.
Step 3: Next, upload the supporting documents such as a photograph, signature, caste/PwD certificate, etc.
Step 4: Finally, pay the application fee either online or offline through Demand Draft. Once the payment has been made successfully then take a clear print of their NID application.
The last date to fill the application form for NID DAT 2026 for B.Des and M.Des programme is December 01, 2025.
For admission to the BDes course, students need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. Candidates must sit and appear for DAT entrance exam to get admission for BDes course at National Institute of Design, Jorhat . Apart from this, the total tuition fee for the BDes course is INR 4.7 lakh.

The details that cannot be modified in NID DAT 2026 Application window are programs applied, name of the candidate, date of birth, registered mobile number and registered email address.

The application fee of NID DAT 2026 for the B. Des for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. If two disciplines are chosen, the application fee is INR 6000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PwD candidate need to pay INR 1,500 for one discipline, and INR 3000 for two disciplines.
