NID Exam Analysis 2024 for B.des Course - The National Institute of Design has conducted the NID DAT 2024 entrance exam today, December 24. The NID DAT exam is conducted for admission to the B.Des and M.Des courses. Students have shared their NID DAT exam analysis from the exam centers which we have compiled herein so that future aspirants of NID DAT can take reference and have an idea about the exam. According to the feedback provided by students, the overall difficulty level of the NID DAT question paper was easy to moderate. NID Maths questions were easy while the drawing section was moderate. As per the official NID exam pattern, the DAT Prelims were conducted in offline mode and the questions included texts and visuals. The duration of the exam for the B.Des program was 3 hours.

Candidates who qualify in the NID DAT 2024 exam (Prelims and Mains) will be offered the B.Des course offered at five campuses - NID Ahmedabad, NID AP, NID Haryana, NID MP, and NID Asaam. NID exam dates 2024 for Mains are April 27 and 28 and between March 3 and April 6 for BDes and MDes respectively. The NID DAT 2026 (Prelims) exam will be conducted on December 21, 2025.
As per the official pattern, the DAT Prelims exam wil be conducted offline and will be of 3 hours duration. The test will be conducted in English language and include a maximum of 26 questions. The question paper will include both subjective and objective-type questions. The paper will be for 100 marks. Candidate who qualify in DAT Prelims have to next appear in DAT Mains.
The candidate needs to consult the exam pattern along with the syllabus to prepare for the NID that exam. Note that the National Institute of Design also has the authority to make changes to the exam pattern.
There is no negative marking in NID DAT 2026 exam. The candidate is recommended to go through the detailed exam pattern to get insights into the question paper structure, including types of questions asked, sections, etc. The DAT Prelims exam for the B. Des programme has two parts. Part I will include 22 objective-type questions, whereas Part II will include 4 subjective-type questions. Objective-type questions carry 1-2 marks, while subjective-type questions carry 15-20 marks. The total marks for the NID DAT Prelims will be 100 marks.

Another student, who appeared for the B.Des program, said that she had an "OK" overall experience. According to her, the MCQ part was easy. There was a question about people living in the mountains, designer models, etc.
However, she was not sure about the expected NID DAT cut-off.
Another student said that compared to the previous year, the question paper wasn't that lengthy. Both the GAT and drawing paper were not lengthy, the GAT was simple though.
There is no negative marking in NID DAT Prelims.
So, the candidate may attempt all the questions. If the wrong answer is selected, the candidate won't be penalized. However, if the correct answer option is selected, the candidate may get some free marks.
Note that the DAT Prelims exam will be conducted in an OMR-based mode. The candidate will need a blue/black ball-point pen for filling the OMR sheet.
There were multiple questions on visual interpretation, statement questions, different forms of artwork, and material knowledge.
The candidate expects the cut-off to be higher than last year (50).
