NIFT 2021 Entrance Exam was held today for BDes and MDes courses. NIFT CAT (Creative Ability Test) for Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) course admission is pen and paper based tests. In NIFT CAT exam, aspirants have to answer three subjective (drawing) questions. They are required to display their knowledge, design ability, intuitive ability, observation skills, concept development skills, creative use of colour and illustration skills in NIFT CAT.

NIFT 2021 Entrance Exam CAT - Highlights
- At the NIFT 2021 entrance exam centre, all COVID-19 related guidelines were being strictly followed.
- Before entering the NIFT exam centre the candidates were asked to sanitise their hands and wear masks.
- The candidates also had to present COVID-19 negative certificate issued by a doctor to gain entry.
- No candidates were allowed entry without the COVID-19 certificate.
- At the one of the exam centres in Delhi the candidates were not allowed to come out of the campus after the BDes exam
- At other exam centres the candidates were allowed to come out and have food before the NIFT GAT paper to be held from 2:30 to 4:30 PM.
- The students were allowed to take inside admit cards, aadhar card, COVID-19 negative certificate, pen, pencil, colour pencils and other stationary items

Sanchita from Kendriya Vidyalaya said, “there were three questions in NIFT CAT. We had to make a virtual design for online webinar, two emojis on ‘good morning’ and ‘good night’ and musical instruments related to Indian festivals. The paper was easy in comparison to previous years. The candidates could use colour pencils or sketch pencils in the exam.”

Vanisha who had come to appear for exam from Meerut said, “The question paper was quite easy. We had to draw musical instrument, emojis and online webinars. There question paper was of 100 marks and there was no change in the exam pattern. This was my first attempt and I prepared for NIFT entrance exam with the help of online material and YouTube videos.”
Kanishka from JMC, Delhi University said, the question paper was easy. In one question we had to draw musical instruments related to festivals and in one we had to draw emojis. In the third question, we had to draw light.
Another student from SD Public School, Punjabi Bagh, Delhi said, “there were three questions in total in NIFT CAT. We had to draw emojis, musical instruments related to festivals and online webinar. It was my first attempt and I prepare by myself for the exam with the help of YouTube videos.”

There are a total of 19 NIFTs in India that participate in the NIFT admission process. The participating institutes offer B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses. Admission to the participating institutes will be on the basis of NIFT scores.
