Can I use a scribe for appearing in UCEED exam?

Yes, you can use scribe service in UCEED exam. The use of a scribe can be used by the candidate under the condition Candidates who have a disability and require assistance in operating the computer for Part-A of the examination Candidate has to upload a copy of the PwD certificate at the time of online registration for UCEED.

Do I need to pay any service charge when filling UCEED application form?

Yes, the candidate may have to pay the service charges, processing fees and/or any other charges that the banks may charge when filling out the UCEED application form. Note that this in addition to the application fee.

Will the IITs conduct spot round of UCEED counseling for OCI/PIO candidates?

The IITs will not conduct any spot rounds after the completion of the regular counseling rounds. UCEED counseling will be conducted as a Joint Admission Process. The counseling will have five seat-allotment rounds. Meanwhile, IITDM Jabalpur may conduct a spot round of admissions at the institutional level if there are any vacant seats after completion of the UCEED counselling.

Will IIT Bombay release the evaluated answer sheets of Part B for UCEED?

The evaluated answer booklets of Part-B will not be shared with the candidates. Further, the answer booklets of Part – B will be preserved ONLY for a period of three months from the date of declaration of the UCEED results. Part B answer booklets will be evaluated manually. The panel will have two expert evaluators who will do the evaluation separately and independently.

Can I transfer my UCEED counseling fee?

The counseling fee of UCEED is neither refundable nor transferable. So, when making the payment, the candidate needs to be sure about their participation. UCEED counseling will have five seat allotment rounds.

Will UCEED counselling be held for M.Des admission?

IIT Bombay will conduct the counseling process for UCEED for B.Des admission only. Candidates who have qualified in CEED exam need to apply directly to the participating college. Note that IIT Bombay will not conduct any Joint Admission Process for CEED . So, once CEED results are declared, go to the admission portal of the participating institutions for updates.

When is UCEED 2027 Entrance Exam?

UCEED 2027 Entrance Exam will be on January 17, 2027 on Sunday. The exam is for B.Des programmes at IITs conducted by IIT Bombay.

Yes, candidates from all streams can fill the application form of UCEED. Also, note that Biology will not be considered in place of Mathematics. The application form for UCEED 2027 must be filled out by candidates after ascertaining their eligibility. IIT Roorkee has the same eligibility criteria as IIT Guwahati.

How to register for the UCEED Counselling?

The 1st step of UCEED counseling is online registration. Candidates who have qualified in the entrance exam and have been assigned a merit rank in UCEED are eligible to participate in the counseling process. The 2nd step is the selection of campuses. Eligible candidates must register for counseling and select their preferred colleges in order of priority during registration. In the 3rd step, seat allotment is made. The allotment of seats is as per the merit rank of the candidate in UCEED and the choices selected. Post the allotment of seats, the candidate has to pay the seat acceptance fee and confirm their admission.

What kind of questions will be asked from the UCEED visualization and spatial reasoning section?

Visual and spatial reasoning section of UCEED will include pictorial and diagrammatic questions that will evaluate candidates' understanding of the transformation and manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships. The candidate needs to practice the following topics to prepare for the section: Conventional/Unconventional Materials for Construction, Design, and Decoration Texture Making Materials, Production Materials, Decoration Materials - Flooring, Cladding (protective material which covers the surface of something), Wall Protection and Decoration - Paints, Plasters, etc. Pattern and Design of Paper Folding Materials and Type of Texture Optical Illusion (2D/3D objects and understanding).

What key points do candidates need to remember about UCEED Part B of question paper?

Candidate needs to remember following points about Part B question paper of UCEED. Part B will include TWO questions. Question for section will be shown on the computer monitor. Candidate, after reading the question, has to write/ draw the answer option in the answer booklet provided by the invigilator. Part B test will evaluate the drawing ability and Design Aptitude of the candidate. Part B is mandatory and will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies for Part A. The cut-off marks for Part A will be declared by IIT Bombay before the declaration of results.

What items am I allowed to carry to the UCEED exam centre?

You should bring pens, pencils, sketch pens and colours for UCEED examination. You are not allowed to bring any electronic devices like mobile phones, smart phones, digital/smart watches, calculators, and tablets.

No, candidates from m Commerce, Arts or Humanities at 10+2 are not eligible to apply for BDes admissions at IIITDM Jabalpur. For admission to BDes at IIITDM Jabalpur, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology. The candidate is urged to carefully go through the detailed UCEED eligibility criteria before applying for admission.

How will scribes be allocated to the candidates for UCEED exam?

Exam officials will make the necessary arrangements through the test centre administrator (TCA) of the examination centre to provide a panel of scribes (amanuenses). Only such candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be considered for scribe services. Scribes will be students of Class XI. The PwD/Dyslexic (severe) candidate has to choose a scribe from this panel. The candidates are not be allowed to bring their own scribes.

Do I need to mention request for compensatory time in the UCEED application form?

If the candidate wishes to avail the services of a scribe and compensatory time, the same should be mentioned in the UCEED application form. The candidate is eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour in Part A and 20 minutes for Part B. But note that the compensatory time for Part-A cannot be transferred to Part-B and vice versa. Upload the PwD certificate along with such requests in the given format.

When should I pay the UCEED seat-acceptance fee?

To avoid any last-minute unforeseen transaction issues, you should pay the seat acceptance fee for a round well before the end time/date of the corresponding round. If the fee is not paid within the given deadline, allotment will be cancelled. Also, such seats will be offered to the candidate next in the order of merit.

Will the UCEED seat-acceptance fee adjusted with the institute fees?

Yes, the seat-acceptance fee paid by the candidate will be adjusted against the institute fees of the admitting institute at the time of joining. In case the candidate declines the offered seat after remitting the seat acceptance fee, the refund of the seat acceptance fee will be done per the policies of the admitting institute. So, carefully go through the counseling process.

Where can I get hard copies of the UCEED scorecard?

IIT Bombay will not release any hard copies of the UCEED scorecard. The scorecard will be available online mode only. It will be released in the form of a downloadable pdf; you can download it from the official admission portal.

Which academic stream should I have studied in Class 12 to be eligible for UCEED exam?

Candidates from any academic stream are eligible to apply for UCEED exam. However, for admission to IIT Guwahati, it is mandatory for candidates to have passed Class 12 from Science stream. The candidate needs to carefully go through the eligibility criteria before they apply. This is because the candidate will not be considered for admission to the B. Des programme even if they get a rank in UCEED if they don't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Also, any candidate who is found to be using incorrect information about their eligibility stands to be disqualified if caught.

How to register for the UCEED Counselling?

To register for the UCEED Counselling, candidates need to fill the B.Des Application for Counselling. There is a common application form for all the IITs.

What is the minimum eligibility criteria to participate in UCEED counselling?

Eligibility criteria to participate in UCEED counselling are given below. Candidate must be born on or after October 1, 2002. Candidate must have qualified in UCEED exam. What is the process to take mock tests for UCEED?

If IIT Bombay conducts any mock tests for UCEED exam, it will be hosted online at uceed.iitb.ac.in. So, to take mock tests, candidate will have to go to the UCEED - IIT Bombay admission portal and click on mock test link. On clicking on the mock test link, a log-in window will open. The login ID will likely be prefilled. So, all you need to do is click on the log-in button to access the mock tests. After logging in, click on the “Start” tab to start the mock test.

Can I solve previous year's papers for UCEED?

Yes, you can solve UCEED previous year question papers. UCEED exam will have two sections - Part A and Part B. While the syllabus has been revised for the exam, there are still some topics that overlap. For instance, Part A still continues to have the Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Observation and Design sensitivity, and a few other topics from the various editions. So, candidates can use the previous years papers to practice these topics. For the other topics, the candidate can try out sample papers.

What details will be covered in the UCEED exam analysis?

The exam analysis for the UCEED exam will be made available on this page within a few minutes of the conclusion of the entrance exam. The exam analysis will include the following elements: section-wise and overall difficulty level, types of questions, topic-wise weightage, and expected cut-off. It will also notify candidates if any technical glitches were observed during the exam. UCEED 2027 Notification and Application are expected to open in the first week of October 2026. IIT Bombay has already announced the dates for UCEED 2027 Entrance Examination for B.Des. IIT Bombay has announced the exam dates for UCEED 2027. UCEED 2027 Entrance Exam will be held on January 17, 2027.

What is UCEED Entrance Exam?

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is a national-level exam conducted by IIT Bombay for admission to the B.Des program at the following institutes: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur. The UCEED exam is conducted once every year, usually in January.

Admission is based on UCEED merit. The candidate has to appear in the UCEED entrance exam, which is conducted by IIT Bombay. Merit lists for admission are prepared considering the marks of UCEED 2027. Also, the scores will be used to shortlist candidates for counseling. UCEED scores are also used by result-sharing institutes. However, the result-sharing institutes will use UCEED 2027 scores to fill available seats in their UG courses.

UCEED 2027 offers B.Des in seven institutes: IIT Bombay (IITB), IIT Delhi (IITD), IIT Guwahati (IITG), IIT Hyderabad (IITH), IIT Indore (IITI), IIT Roorkee (IITR), and IIITDM Jabalpur (IIITDMJ). UCEED 2027 Eligibility & Application Form

IIT Bombay releases eligibility criteria for UCEED Entrance exam. Candidates need to meet the following conditions for admission to the B.Des program offered by the UCEED 2027 participating institutes.

UCEED Application 2027

Application form for UCEED 2027 will open in October. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria for the B.Des program can apply before the last date. The candidate can apply for UCEED 2027 with regular and late fees. The late application fee will be around INR 500 along with the regular registration fees.

How to fill out the UCEED Application Form?

To get registered, the candidate have to follow these steps.

Online registration: Click on the registration link. You will be redirected to a registration form. Fill in details like a valid email ID and mobile number. An applicant account will be created.
Fill in the form: The application form will have sections, like personal, academic, and contact details. Fill in all the sections. Candidates will also be required to select an exam city from the drop-down menu. Select the exam cities in the order of priority.
Upload documents: The candidate has to upload documents, like a photograph, signature, date of birth proof, and qualifying exam certificates in the prescribed format.
Pay the application fee: The fee has to be paid in online mode. The application fee for the OPEN category is INR 4,000 and INR. 2,000 for reserved category candidates

UCEED 2027 Exam Pattern, Syllabus & Preparation

UCEED 2027 exam is divided into two parts - A and B. As per the official UCEED 2027 exam pattern, Part B will include Two questions: one on Drawing and the other on Design aptitude. The duration of Paper B will be 60 minutes. The question in Part B will be displayed on the computer screen, and the answer has to be written/drawn in the answer book provided by the invigilator only. UCEED Syllabus 2027

Part A will have questions on some of the topics:

UCEED 2027 Answer Key

UCEED Final Answer Key for Part A will be out tentatively on Janaury 28, 2027. IIT Bombay will also release the draft answer key of UCEED 2027 in the third week of January 2027. Question paper for UCEED 2027 will be released alongside the answer key.

Draft answer key will contain the official answers to the questions asked in the entrance exam.
Candidate can use the keys to calculate probable scores.
Candidate will also be given the option to submit Objections against the draft answer key. When submitting comments, the candidate must select the question they want to challenge. Challenge must have proper justification.
It may be noted that the order of questions in the question paper may vary for each candidate, so they must use the UCEED 2027 question paper for uploading complaints/queries.

IIT Bombay will release the UCEED cutoff marks for Part A tentatively on February 05, 2027. The cut-offs are released in the form of mean and standard deviation. The mean and standard deviation for Part-A (UCEED 2026) are 70.86 and 25.77. UCEED Admission cutoff depends upon score, seats, reservation criteria, etc.

UCEED 2027 Counselling

IIT Bombay will be conducting Joint Counselling for UCEED Entrance Exam. To participate in the counselling, candidates have to fill the B.Des Application form available on the UCEED Admission Portal. There will be a common application form for admissions to the respective B.Des programmes of the institutes. IIT Bombay will release the common application form and will conduct the joint seat allocation process.

Candidates must pay the fee before the deadline; otherwise, their application for the seat will be cancelled by UCEED.

They will NOT be considered for the subsequent round of UCEED seat allotment.
The vacant seats will be offered to other eligible candidates to be filled during the subsequent rounds (if any) of seat allotment.
If applicants are allotted their FIRST choice of institute, they have to either ACCEPT (freeze) the offer or DECLINE it. If the candidate chooses to DECLINE the offer, they will NOT be considered for subsequent rounds, and their current seat will be CANCELLED.

Q: What is the exam pattern for UCEED 2027?

UCEED consists of two parts:

Part A (Computer-based): Objective questions (NAT, MSQ, MCQ)
Part B (Pen-and-paper): Drawing and design aptitude questions

Q: Will there be biometric verification for candidates at UCEED exam centre?

Yes, there will be biometric verification at the UCEED 2027 exam centre. The biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) will be collected from the candidate before the commencement of the exam. On exam day, the candidate needs to bring with them a valid photo id proof and the admit card. Note that the photo id proof must be in the original; photocopies will not be accepted.

Q: When will UCEED Entrance Exam 2027 be conducted?

IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED 2027 Entrance Exam for B.Des programmes on January 17, 2027. The notification will be out in the first week of October 2026.

Q: After submitting UCEED 2027 application fee, can I cancel the application form and get a refund?

No, candidates will not be given a refund for UCEED 2027 application fee under any circumstances. UCEED application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. So, before paying the application fee, the candidate needs to make up their minds whether they want to appear in the UCEED exam or not.

Q: How can I prepare for UCEED Entrance Exam in 6 months?

Go through UCEED syllabus completely.
Understand UCEED exam pattern and marking scheme and prepare accordingly.
Get all study material for UCEED, such as prep books and previous year's question papers.
Create a monthly plan on how much syllabus to cover daily.
Solve question papers, sample papers and mock tests.

Q: Will IIT Bombay conduct spot round of counseling for UCEED 2027?

UCEED 2027 counseling will be conducted by IIT Bombay. The counseling process will have five rounds. The Joint Admission Process will not have any spot rounds.

Q: When will the UCEED 2027 application form be available?

UCEED 2027 Applications for the B.Des programme will be released by IIT Bombay on the official site, October 01, 2026. The application form will be available on the official website of UCEEED.

Q: What is the timing of UCEED 2027 Exam?

UCEED Exam 2027 will be conducted on January 1, 72027 (Sunday), from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Details will be released on October 01, 2026 on the website.

Q: Whom should I contact if I have any problem with UCEED registration?

Candidates can report any issue faced while filling UCEED application form by clicking Report Problem tab that is present on the right side of UCEED application window.

On clicking tab, candidates will have to explain problem that they are facing. They are also required to mention their registration number. It is advised that candidates not wait until the last minute to fill the form.

Q: I am appearing in qualifying exam in 2027, can I apply for UCEED 2027?

If you are appearing in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2027 you must ensure the following:

(a) all parts of their final examination are completed by the date of application for admission, and
(b) submit proof of having passed the qualifying examination with required eligibility by September 30, 2027 to the admitting institute.

Q: Who can participate in UCEED counseling?

The counseling process for UCEED will be conducted by IIT Bombay as a Joint Seat Allocation process.

To participate in UCEED counseling, the candidate must have qualified in the UCEED entrance exam and been allocated a merit rank.
This means that if the candidate has failed to qualify Part A exam, he or she will not be allocated a merit rank and, therefore, is not eligible to take part in the counseling process.

Q: What are the important topics candidates need to prepare for Part A of UCEED?

UCEED question paper will have two parts: 1. computer-based Part A and 2. Drawing and aptitude based Part B.

Some of topics to prepare for UCEED are given below.

Visualization and spatial reasoning: Ability to visualise and transform 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
Practical and scientific knowledge: Know-how of scientific principles and everyday objects.
Observation and design sensitivity: Capacity to detect concealed properties in day-to-day life and think critically about them. Attention to detail, classification, analysis, inference and prediction.
Environment and society: General awareness of environmental, social and cultural connections with design.
Analytical and logical reasoning: Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative information.
Language: Proficiency in reading and comprehending Standard English.
Creativity: Grasp of verbal and non-verbal analogies, metaphors, signs and symbols.

Q: When will the official notification for UCEED 2027 be released?

Official notification of UCEED 2027 will be released by October 01, 2026, by IIT Bombay on the official website.

Q: What do I need to know about the UCEED question paper?

The UCEED question paper will be of 3 hours and include two parts - The computer-based Part A and the offline-based Part B. It is mandatory for candidates to appear in both the paper.

Also, Part B paper answer booklets will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A. IIT Bombay will release the cut-off marks for Part A before the declaration of results.

Part A will include the following types of questions: Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Multiple Select Question (MSQ) Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). Part A will now include 57 questions.

Meanwhile, Part B will include 2 questions; this includes a sketching-based and an aptitide-based question.

Q: When will the admission notification for UCEED 2027 be released?

IIT Bombay released the admission notification for UCEED 2027 on October 1, 2026.

Candidates can check out the notification online at the UCEED admission portal uceed.iitb.ac.in. IIT Bombay has launched a new admission portal for UCEED 2027.

Q: When will UCEED seat allotment release for Round I?

IIT Bombay will release UCEED seat allotment for Round I in the last week of April 2027.

The seat allotment will be released online at the UCEED - IIT Bombay admission portal UCEED.

Q: Is the UCEED application the same for the B. Des and M.Des courses?

UCEED application form is to be filled by candidates seeking admission to the B. Des programme. Also, UCEED scores are not considered for admission to the M.Des programme. So, the candidates must instead fill out the application form for CEED . Note that both the CEED and UCEED exams are conducted by IIT Bombay.

Q: When will the UCEED 2027 application form open?

UCEED 2027 Application will open from October 01, 2026, on the official website. Last date to apply with regular fees will be in November. Candidates who met the prescribed eligibility criteria were able to apply for admission.

Q: When will UCEED 2027 Round 1 begin?

UCEED Counselling Round 1 will begin on April 21, 2027. The seat acceptance fee has to be paid by April 29, 2027, at 6 PM.
