UCEED stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design. It is one of the top-notch exams conducted for admission in B.Des Programmes in IITs. UCEED Scorecards are made available from March 10, 2026 till July 31, 2026. It can be downloaded from the Candidate's Portal. It is valid for a period of one year from the date of issue. After the announcement of Cut off, IIT Bombay declared the UCEED result on March 06, 2026. It will be valid for one year from the date of release.

UCEED Exam was conducted on January 18, 2026, by IIT Bombay. The exam time was from 9 AM to 12 PM on Sunday. UCEED reporting time for the exam was 7 AM. There was biometric attendance at the UCEED test centres. All candidates must carry a printout of their UCEED Hall ticket with a Photo ID proof to the centre. Entry to the examination centre after the start of IIT UCEED Entrance Exam (9:00 AM) was not allowed.

What is UCEED?

UCEED stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design. It is one of the top-notch exams conducted for admission in B.Des Programmes in IITs. UCEED 2026 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay under the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee 2026 (UCI Committee). The admissions to the B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur are done through the UCEED entrance Examination. There are many result-sharing institutes that accept the UCEED scores for B.Des Admissions.

Q:   Will UCEED 2026 exam analysis also include the expected cut-off?
A: 

On the day of the UCEED 2026 exam, shikha.com correspondents did a live coverage of the exam. Our correspondents spoke to the exam takers once they came out of the exam hall and tried to extract all the key information about the exam and corresponding events.

Q:   When will UCEED cutoff released for Round I?
A: 

The admission cut-off for Round I of UCEED 2026 will be released alongside the seat allotment results on April 21, 2026.

This will be followed by 2nd allotment on May 19, 2026. The 3rd round of allotment will be declared on June 10, 2026.

The cut-off has been released in the form of category-wise opening and closing ranks. Also, the cut-off is released for all the participating institutes. Candidates who meet the cut-off criteria will get admission to the B. Des programme. However, if the candidate fails to meet the cut-off criteria, he or she will be considered for admission in subsequent rounds. Note that UCEED 2026 counseling will have FIVE seat allotment rounds, and for each round a separate cut-off would be released.

Q:   What is the UCEED cut-off for admission to B. Des programme at IIT Bombay?
A: 

IIT Bombay is among the most popular institutes to pursue a design course in India. So, it is no surprise that cut-off for admission to the institute is pretty high. UCEED Cutoff marks for Part A were out on February 05, 2026. For IIT Bombay, in 2024, the cutoff marks for Open category were: Opening: 1 and Closing: 14.

UCEED Result/Score 2026

UCEED Results 2026 were released on March 06, 2026 on the official website (www.uceed.iitb.ac.in). Candidates must use their user login and password (created during registration) to check their results. No hard copies of the UCEED 2026 Scorecard will be sent to the candidates. 

The responses of the candidates for Part-A of UCEED 2026 will be available for download ONLY until the declaration of the UCEED result. Candidates will not be able to download the Part-A responses once the UCEED results are declared. The responses will be disabled, and no requests will be entertained.

All the candidates who have qualified in the UCEED 2026 Entrance Examination will be shortlisted and will be given a common merit rank (All India Rank). The Ranks will be assigned by considering the total marks of Part A and Part B in UCEED 2026.

If the total marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, then the tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks.

IIT Bombay released the UCEED cut-off for Part A on February 05, 2026. It is released on uceed.iitb.ac.in. Cut off for UCEED Part A is available in the form of Mean and Standard Deviation. The mean and standard deviation for Part-A (UCEED 2026) are 70.86 and 25.77. It will be released for all the students who have appeared for the UCEED Entrance Exam.

UCEED Seat Allotment and Counselling 2026

UCEED will have Five Rounds of Seat Allotment. The schedule is released. The seats will be allotted based on the applicant’s All India Rank (AIR) in UCEED 2026, category and choice of institutes. The candidates who will be selected for the allotment will be given a Provisional Allotment Letter via their registered Email. Candidates need to confirm their seats by paying the Seat Acceptance Fee of ₹60,000 (Rupees Sixty Thousand only) for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL and ₹ 15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand only) for SC/ST/PwD.

UCEED Fee Structure 2026

The UCEED Fee for the B.Des programme will depend on the various participating and UCEED result-sharing institutes. Candidates need to check the fee structure of the respective institute.

There are seven participating institutes of UCEED 2025. IIT Roorkee was newly added in the previous edition of the exam. The participating institutes offer B.Des courses and have an intake of 245 seats. Admission to the course will be strictly based on UCEED 2026 merit ranks.

What is the UCEED Eligibility Criteria 2026?

All the candidates who wish to appear for the UCEED 2026 Entrance Examination must fulfill the following three Criteria:

Criteria 1 – Age limit:
The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 2001, if belonging to the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category, and born on or after October 1, 1996, if belonging to the SC, ST, or PwD category.

Criteria 2 – Number of attempts:

The maximum attempts a candidate can have is two times in two consecutive years. The UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year.

Criteria 3 – Qualifying examination:
A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2025 or 2026 to be eligible for attempting UCEED 2026. Students from all the streams (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible. Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination (Class XII) in 2024 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in UCEED 2026.

UCEED Admission Process 2026

The step-wise UCEED 2026 admission process is as follows:

1. Fill the UCEED Application Form.

2. Download the UCEED Admit Card.

3. Appear for the UCEED Entrance Exam.

4. Check UCEED Result and Rank. Download the Scorecard.

5. Appear for the UCEED Seat Allotment Rounds/ Counselling.

6. Wait for the Provisional Offer Letter and pay the fees after getting the Provisional Offer Letter.

Q:   What is the category-wise seat intake for the B. Des programme at IIT Bombay through UCEED 2026?
A: 
IIT Bombay is among the top design colleges in the country. So, most candidates appearing in the UCEED exam will want to know about the category-wise seat matrix at the institute: Open category - 15 seats EWS - 3 seats OBC-NCL - 10 seats SC - 5 seats ST - 2 seats ST-PwD - 1 seat Note that candidates belonging to open category will not be considered for admission under other categories. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will also be considered for admission under open category.
Q:   Will I be considered for admission to the B. Des programme at UCEED 2026 participating colleges if I do not get a merit rank?
A: 

The seat allotment to UCEED 2026 participating colleges will be through the Joint Admission Process conducted by IIT Bombay. Note that only such candidates who have been allocated a merit rank in UCEED 2026 are eligible to participate in the seat allotment process. The allotment of seats will be on the basis of merit rank of the candidate in UCEED 2026 and college option opted at the time of counseling registration. Also, to be included in the UCEED 2026 merit list, the candidate needs to have qualified Part A. Note that Part B answer booklets will be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A.

Q:   What is the criteria for admission to B.Des programme offered by a UCEED 2026 participating institute?
A: 

Admission to the B. Des programme at UCEED 2026 participating colleges will be on the basis of UCEED 2026 merit rank. So, candidates with a higher rank will get preference in the seat allotment process. The admission committee will also consider the college option opted by the candidate and their order of priority. Note that to get a merit rank in UCEED 2026, candidates must have qualified Part A. In case the candidate fails to qualify Part A, his or her Part B answer booklet will not be evaluated.

UCEED Hall Ticket 2026

UCEED Admit card was released on January 02, 2026 for all the candidates who have successfully completed the registration. The UCEED Hall ticket is available on the official website. Candidates can log in using their credentials. Admit Card UCEED will have information like Name,  UCEED Registration ID, Roll Number for UCEED 2025, Date of Birth, Category, photograph, signature, examination schedule, examination centre details, and instructions to candidates.

UCEED also provides an opportunity to the candidates to rectify any discrepancies that might have occurred in the Admit Card. Candidates must do so within the time alloted.

UCEED Exam Centres 2026

UCEED had test centres in almost all parts of the country. Students had to select three cities at the time of filling out the application form. No request to change the city were accepted once the registration is complete. Candidates had to make their own arrangements in the city allotted to them for the examination. The city was allotted to the candidates on the basis of the city preference filled by them.

No, candidates from m Commerce, Arts or Humanities at 10+2 are not eligible to apply for BDes admissions at IIITDM Jabalpur.

Application to BDes Programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur (Participating Institutes) began from March 14, 2026 (Saturday), 10:00 Hrs. The application portal closed on April 10, 2026 (Friday), at 5:30 PM.

UCEED Entrance Exam Answer Key 2026

UCEED released answer key for the IIT UCEED Exam. Draft Answer Key and candidates’ response for Part-A was out on January 19, 2026. The last date for uploading comments (if any) on the Draft Answer Key in the candidate’s portal was January 22, 2026, 05:00 pm. UCEED released the final answer key on January 28, 2026 for Part A.

UCEED Registration 2026

UCEED Registration closed with late fee November 10, 2025. UCEED Application is closed with regular fee. The last date for UCEED Application 2026 with regular fees was extended from October 31, 2025 to November 05, 2025. UCEED B.Des Application fee was INR. 4,000 for all the applicants (all categories and genders). Application fee for female and reserved candidates is INR 2,000. The fee will be non-refundable and non-transferable.

UCEED Syllabus and Question Paper Pattern 2026

UCEED Entrance Exam is conducted by IIT Bombay. The exam is conducted in two parts: Part A and Part B.

UCEED Part- A will have questions from the following topics:

  • Visualization and spatial reasoning: This will check the candidate’s ability to visualise and transform 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
  • Practical and scientific knowledge: This topic is know-how of scientific principles and everyday objects.
  • Observation and design sensitivity:This topic will check the capacity to detect concealed properties in daily life and think critically about them. Attention to detail, classification, analysis, inference and prediction.
  • Environment and society: How much a candidate is good with General awareness of environmental, social, and cultural connections with design.
  • Analytical and logical reasoning: Candidate’s ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative information.
  • Language: How proficient is the candidate in reading and comprehending Standard English?
  • Creativity: How well-versed is the candidate in grasping verbal and non-verbal analogies, metaphors, signs, and symbols?

UCEED Part B will have questions on the following topics:

  • Drawing: Will check candidate’s ability to draw products, people or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.
  • Design aptitude: Will analyze candidate’s capability to practically and appropriately respond to problems/situations with ingenuity and empathy.

UCEED Exams 2026

UCEED Exams were conducted on January 18, 2026. The Entrance Exam of UCEED is conducted in two parts. 

  • There will be one question paper with both parts: A and B. The exam will be of three hours.
  • The medium of the exam will be in English.
  • The UCEED 2026 exam will be of 300 marks. Candidates will have to attend both parts as both parts are compulsory.

Yes, you need to fill the ADEPT Application form even if you have scored rank under 2500 in UCEED. Only one step will be eliminated, which is ADEPT written exam.

Ecole Intuit Lab, New Delhi offers both merit and entrance based admission to its BVoc programme. The students may get selected without a valid UCEED score as well. However, the candidates may have to go through other selection rounds.
