The Karnataka High Court (HC) has allowed Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) to conduct COMEDK UGET 2020 exam on August 19. The decision was taken by the Karnataka HC after a plea was filed by an advocate, Abdulla Mannan Khan, a Karnataka based lawyer on August 11. In the plea, he asked the organization to withhold the examination keeping in view the COVID-19 cases in the state. He has also proposed to conduct the examination after NEET and JEE Main exams are conducted. Karnataka High Court, however, refused to intervene and rejected the plea.
The panel had a bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and Jyoti Mulimani. The Court also mentioned that the COMEDK UGET 2020 will be held on the scheduled date and precautionary measures will be taken by the authority keeping the safety of the students. The court also suggested that additional safety measures may be taken other than those mentioned in the guidelines by the exam authority.

KCET is only for Karnataka domicile students — so students from other states cannot apply for KCET unless they have studied in Karnataka for a minimum number of years (usually Classes 6–10 or 11–12 in a Karnataka school).
COMEDK UGET, on the other hand, is open to all students across India, regardles
