IITKGP offers a five-year Integrated MTech programme across 16 specialisations. Admission to this course is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced score followed by JoSAA counselling. Students seeking admission must qualify both the entrance exams for admission to IIT Kharagpur.

IIT Kharagpur Integrated MTech Admission 2022: Eligibility, Fee & Seats

Some of the key highlights around IIT KGP Integrated BTech-MTech programme around its fee, eligibility, cutoff and seats for all specialisations are as follows:

  • Total fee: INR 10.6 for Integrated MTech
  • Number of specialisations: 16 in Integrated MTech
  • Total seats: 1,869 (for Integrated BTech-MTech including Gender Neutral and Female seats)
  • Eligibility: Aspirants who have completed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in PCM are eligible to pursue BTech courses
  • Selection: JEE Main + JEE Advanced

  • The total fee is inclusive of a one-time refundable deposit of INR 2,000 and is not inclusive of any charges related to the hostel.
  • The fee mentioned is for the year 2019. Hence, is indicative. The actual fee might vary.

Q:   How much percentage is required for admission to IIT Kharagpur?
A: 

The minimum percentage required for admission to IIT Kharagpur is different for different courses. However, IIT Kharagpur admission is completely entrance-based. Students are selected based on various national-level entrance exams like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, etc. The below table mentions the minimum percentage required by the students in the last qualifying degree to be eligible for some of the popular IIT KGP courses:

Q:   Who is eligible for M.Tech at IIT Kharagpur?
A: 

To be eligible for IIT Kharagpur's Joint MTech/MCP PhD programme, candidates need a BE/BTech/BArch degree or a master's in Science/Arts with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST/PwD). Qualifications from exams by recognised professional societies are also accepted. Applicants must have a valid GATE score relevant to their qualifying discipline, and in the absence of a specific GATE paper, XE/XL/XH papers can be considered. NET-qualified candidates with a fellowship in MA/MSc Economics/Sociology/Geography, having studied Mathematics/Statistics, are eligible for MCP-PhD.

Q:   Can I join M.Tech in mining without qualifying GATE?
A: 
Note that the IIT graduates having CGPA of 8.0 or above will be eligible for direct admission at IIT Kharagpur without a GATE score 2023. The institute has scrapped the written tests/interviews of shortlisted candidates. The admissions will be conducted on the basis of the GATE 2023 score only.

IIT Kharagpur Integrated MTech Application Process 2022

In order to apply for Integrated MTech at IIT Kharagpur, students are required to apply via JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced application. The process of application for JEE Mains 2022 consists of three steps, i.e registration, form filling & documents upload followed by payment of application fees.

Step 1: Open the official website (jeemain.nta.nic.in) and click on the ‘Registration for JEE (Main) 2022’ link.

Step 2: Fill the registration form with the required information followed by clicking on the submit button.

Step 3: Fill the detailed application form and upload scanned images and documents.

Step 4: Pay the application fees.

Q:   Can I get admission at IIT Kharagpur in BTech CSE if my rank is between 0 and 5000?
A: 

The cut off rank in Round 6 for B.Tech. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Engineering is 279 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology.

Q:   What are the qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2026?
A: 

Qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2026, also called qualifying percentile for JEE Mains will be announced by the NTA along with the JEE Main 2026 session 2 result. Candidates must note that qualifying percentile for JEE Mains 2026 is the minimum percentile required to appear in JEE Advanced 2026. For admission to NIT or IIITs, there is no provision of qualifying marks in JEE Mains 2026 and admission is given based on All India Rank in JEE Mains exam. NTA will announce JEE Mains 2026 All India rank in April after session 2 exam results. 

Documents required to fill JEE Main 2022 application form

Before the JEE Main 2022 registration process, students must keep the following documents and information ready for a smooth application process:

  • Valid email-id and mobile number
  • Academic details related to the Class 10 and Class 12 qualifying exams
  • Scanned copy of category certificate (if applicable)
  • Scanned copy of PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • Scanned photograph and signature as per the specification mentioned by the NTA
  • Net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI details for application fee payment

Yes, 50% aggregate is a decent accepted score for IIT Kharagpur admissions but this 50% does not mean that the student will get the admission as scores in entrance exams are quite important.

Yes, admissions at IIT Kharagpur are possible with 94% as the basic eligibility criteria is pass in Class 12th with a minimum of 75% aggregate. The accepted entrance tests are JEE Main,  JEE Advanced, and others.
