JoSAA 2022 seat allotment result: 69 of 100 top rankers choose IIT Bombay

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has once again emerged a popular choice among students this year as per the first seat allotment list released by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) on Friday. Candidates can check and download their result at the official website – josaa.nic.in. 

Only those candidates are considered eligible for JoSAA 2022 counselling who have passed the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and JEE Advanced 2022 exams.  

As many as 69 out of 100 top rankers and 173 of the top 500 rank holders have opted to join IIT Bombay this year. As per the information shared by the organising JEE office, 28 out of top 100 JEE Advanced rank holders have chosen IIT Delhi. Among the top 500 rankers, 173 have been allotted seats in IIT Bombay, followed by 127 in IIT Delhi, 48 each in IIT Madras and Kanpur, 44 in IIT Kharagpur and 33 in IIT Roorkee. 

Apart from IITs, JoSAA counselling is conducted for admissions to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other Government Funded Technology Institutes (GFTIs).

Q:   What is JEE Main 2024 Result Date Session 1?

JEE Main result 2024 session 1 has been announced by the NTA. The JEE Main 2024 Result session 1 was released on February 12. NTA has activated the JEE Mains result 2024 link on the official website. Candidates need to login on the official website using their application number and date of birth to check their JEE Mains 2024 result. The score card will have details about the percentile score in all three subjects and the aggregate percentile. The All India Rank of JEE Main 2024 was announced along with session 2 (April) result.

Candidates will be able to check these details on the JEE Advanced scorecard: JEE Advanced Registration Number, JEE Advanced Roll Number, Candidate's Name, Candidate's Date of Birth, Qualifying Status, All India Rank secured by a candidate in the exam, category-wise All India Rank (AIR) of the Candidate, Subject-wise scores in both Paper 1 & 2, Section-wise scores in both Paper 1 & 2 and Total Marks. You can download your Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced Result from the official website of the Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced. The official website is jeeadv. AC. In. Note that, there is no provision to re-evaluate/re-check JEE Advanced result. The exam conducting authority will not entertain any correspondence in this regard. Also, if any candidate is absent in the JEE Advanced examination their result will not be announced on the website.

Q:   Can I get admission to IIT Bombay in BTech with 5000 rank?
A: 

The cut off rank in Round 6 for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering is 67 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology. 

Q:   When will the result of JEE Advanced be out?
A: 

JEE Advanced 2026 result will be out in June 2026.

Candidates can check and download the JEE Advanced 2026 scorecard under their respective login on jeeadv. ac. in. To Download JEE Advanced 2026 scorecard, candidates have to use 7-digit roll number, date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format, and the 10-digit phone number that they used while registering for JEE (Advanced).

Also, category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) of successful candidates will be available through the JEE Advanced 2026 online portal after the results are declared. Text messages will also be sent to the candidates to their registered mobile numbers.

Only those candidates who will secure minimum marks in JEE Advanced 2026, as prescribed by the IITs will be included in the AIR list for JoSAA counselling and IIT admissions. Allotment of seats will be solely based on the category-wise All India Rank in the JEE Advanced 2026.

The online registration process for JOSAA counselling 2022 was open from September 12 to 21. Based on the seat allotment, online reporting, fee payment, document uploading and response by the candidate to the query for Round 1 will be done between September 23 and September 26. 

How to check to check JOSAA seat allotment result 

Candidates need to follow the below steps to check the JoSAA 2022 seat allotment Round 1 result  

  1. Visit official website, josaa.nic.in. 
  2. Click on ‘View Seat Allotment Result Round 1’ link. 
  3. Login using JEE Main application number and password. 
  4. The JOSAA round 1 seat allotment result will appear on screen. 
  5. Download the result and take a printout for future reference. 

Candidates who are allotted seats will be required to select online reporting and complete the further admission process within the given deadline.
