KCET Notification 2027: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will release the official KCET 2027 Notification (also known as UGCET) in December 2026 or January 2027. The KCET Notification 2027 PDF will be out on its official website -  cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea.

KCET 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Before filling registration forms students must meet minimum KCET eligibility criteria set by KEA. Below we have shared the eligibility criteria of KCET:

• Academic Qualification: Candidates must have cleared their II PUC / Class 12 or equivalent examination.

• Mandatory Subjects: Pass marks are required individually in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and English.

• Minimum Marks: General category students must secure a minimum aggregate of 45% in their core subjects (PCM or PCB). For Karnataka-based SC, ST, and OBC candidates, the relaxation threshold is 40%.

• Domicile Requirement: Generally, candidates must have studied in a recognized educational institution located in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years between Class 1 and Class 12.

• Special Clauses: A mandatory Kannada Language Test (4th-standard level, passing score of 12/50) applies to "Hornadu" and "Gadinadu" border-region candidates who claim eligibility via mother tongue but didn't study in the state.

KCET 2027 Exam Pattern & Structure

The KCET 2027 exam is conducted in offline (Pen-and-Paper/OMR-based) mode. Below candidates can check the KCET exam pattern 2027:

• Engineering aspirants must appear for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). Farm Science and Veterinary aspirants appear for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB).

KCET Reservation Categories & Quotas

The Karnataka government offers a reservation system for native students. When filling out KCET application form 2027, candidates must ensure they claim any applicable sub-quotas, as it can lower cut-off rank required for admission:

• Rural Quota: 15% of government seats are reserved for candidates who have studied from Class 1 to Class 10 in educational institutions situated in rural areas of Karnataka.

• Kannada Medium Quota: 5% of seats are allocated to students who have studied in Kannada medium from Class 1 to 10.

• Supernumerary Quota (SNQ): 5% of total seats in engineering college are reserved under SNQ for meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds. 

• Candidates whose parental annual income is INR 8 Lakhs or below are eligible, allowing them to study with a waived-off tuition fee.

• Hyderabad-Karnataka (Article 371J): Special reservation benefits are given to candidates belonging to the Kalyana-Karnataka region (districts like Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, and Ballari).

KCET 2027: Application Process

Once the KCET application form 2027 link goes live, candidates must follow below steps to apply.

1. Visit KEA Application Portal and generate a unique User ID and Password.

2. Fill personal information, reservation clauses, academic details, and school residency timelines.

4. Complete the KCET application fee payment online via Net Banking, Credit/Debit cards, or UPI platforms.

Documents to Keep Ready while applying for KCET 2027

During the Counselling, students must undergo an online or offline document verification process. All candidates who qualify in the exam as per the KCET result 2027, are eligible to appear for the counselling process. It is highly recommended to keep original and attested copies of these documents sorted ahead of time:

1. KCET 2027 Green Card / Application Printout and KCET 2027 Admit Card.

What is the KCET 50-50 Weightage Rule?

The KCET merit ranks are determined by a 50:50 weightage combination. KEA calculates final rank by taking 50% performance from Class 12 Board exam theory marks and 50% from KCET entrance marks. Neglecting regular board preparation can derail your chances at securing seats in top tier colleges like RVCE, PESU, or BMSCE.
