JEE Advanced Counselling 2026: The JEE Advanced 2026 counselling is over now. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducted the counselling in total five rounds. All qualified candidates had to participate in the counselling as per the schedule to take admission in IITs. 

The JoSAA counselling is organised jointly for NTA JEE and IIT JEE qualifed candidates wherein NTA JEE qualified candidates are allotted seats at NITs, IIITs and GFTIs and JEE Adv qualified students get admission in IITs. The counselling process includes registration, filling in choices of course and institute, locking the choices, seat allocation, verification of documents and reporting at the allotted institute. Q:   When will the JoSAA announce the seat allocation results for Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4?
A: 

JoSAA 2026 counselling for JEE Main and JEE Advanced qualifiers has started. The entire schedule of JoSAA counselling 2026 has been uploaded on josaa.nic.in. The round 1 seat allotment result was announced on June 13 and the round 2 results was announced on June 30.

Q:   Is the JEE Advanced counselling and the JoSAA counselling the same?
A: 

Yes. JEE Advanced counselling is conducted by JoSAA. The candidates with JEE Advanced rank have to register for JoSAA counselling for admission to the IITs.

JEE Advanced 2026 Counselling Eligibility Criteria

For JEE Advanced counselling, candidates should 

  1. Be among the top 2.5 lakh students of JEE Main 2026 or have a percentile above the cutoff
  2. Pass Class 12 or equivalent examination with a minimum 75% marks

In addition to the above mentioned eligibility criteria, candidates also need to fulfill the eligility criteria of institutes mentioned in the JoSAA portal.

Q:   If I do not get 75% in class 12 boards, but I pass the JEE Advanced exam, can I apply for JoSAA counselling?
A: 

No, your candidature will be rejected as you need to have minimum of 75% in class 12 to be eligible for admisison to the IITs, NIT, IIITs and GFTIs via the JoSAA counselling. Even if you pass JEE Advanced and JEE Main, of you do not have 75% minimum marks in class 12 boards you will no get admissions.

Q:   When will the JEE Advanced 2026 counselling be held?
A: 

The JEE Advanced 2026 counselling (JoSAA) started on June 2, 2026. Note that the counselling for the JEE Advanced qualified candidates for IIT admissions is conducted jointly with NITs, IIITs and GFTIs admission counselling by JoSAA - Joint seat allocation authority.

Candidates have to register for JoSAA, fill choices, check allotment, confirm allotment, and pay seat confirmation fee to complete the IIT admisison process after JEE Advanced. The registration for JoSAA counselling started on June 2, 2026.

JEE Advanced Counselling and Seat Allotment 2026 Process

JEE Advanced qualified candidates have to register for JEE Advanced counselling and seat allotment, which is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). 

  • Registration: Students will need to use their JEE Main roll number and JEE Advanced password as credentials while logging in.
  • Choice filling: After registration, candidates will have to select the college and courses of their choice. During choice filling, candidates will see the list of only those colleges and course which can be allotted to candidate based on their rank and category. The choice filling will be done only once for all rounds of seat allotment hence, candidates must fill choices carefully. 
  • Seat allotment and confirmation: Seats will be allotted to students as per their merit, preferred choices, category and availability. After the allotment of seats, candidates have to download their allotment letter and have to pay the seat acceptance fee.

JEE Advanced Counselling 2026 Seat allotment: Important Points

Students are required to keep the points mentioned below in mind regarding the seat allotment during JEE Advanced 2026 Counselling. Candidates will be allotted seats according to their ranks in the exam:

  • Log in using the Registration No (User ID), JEE Advanced 2026 Roll No and Password to check seat allotment status.
  • Students should check their status of Seat Allotment at the end of every round, as it may change due to upgradation
  • The soft copy of the category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) certificates uploaded at the time of online registration will be scrutinised against originals during seat allocation
  • If the certificates uploaded are found to be inappropriate, the student will be treated as General only if their score in Paper-1 of JEE Main is above the cutoff score for the General category.

JEE Advanced 2026 Counselling: List of Documents for Verification

All candidates who are allotted seats in any round of JEE Advanced counselling will have to report to the documents verification centre for confirmation of admission. Candidates will need to carry the below mentioned documents while reporting for document verification at the designated centre. Candidates have to carry all these documents in orginal and xerox copies as well. 

  • Seat Allotment Letter
  • Admit card of JEE Advanced 2026
  • Proof of Date of Birth: Class 10 /HSC/Birth Certificate/Any other certificate as proof of date of birth
  • Photo Identity
  • Class 12 /SSC/Equivalent exam Mark sheet and Certificate of passing
  • Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Category Certificate (OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PwD/DS) issued by the competent authority
  • Duly filled Medical Examination Report
