I joined IMS Engineering College (IMSEC) back in 2016 by cracking UPSEE and scoring a rank of around 30000. But now, you can also get direct admission here easily if your Board percentage is at around 80%. If you are good or average in PCM, you can easily get a decent college like this one (in terms of AKTU) via UPSEE itself.
Career Decision
It was quite clear in my mind that I had to go for the engineering field (more specifically, in the Computer Science field). I made my attempts to crack the JEE Main exam, but for some reasons or, you could say, some mistakes, I couldn’t clear it. But I got IMSEC through UPSEE. Sometimes, you don’t know where exactly you are going, but just going for it is the only option you have. I accepted this new journey for myself and made my way into IMS back in 2016.

I chose this college as it had some reputation in terms of having a decent overall environment, especially in the Ghaziabad region, which was close to my house too.
Exam Tips
Well, you don’t need to do anything special as long as you are good in your board exams and your basics are clear, because in UPSEE exam, they will mostly ask you basics of whatever you had learnt in your class 12th education. If you prepare well through third-party books, then you can get top colleges like Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSS), Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC), etc. To get into top colleges, you will need roughly 2-3 months of deep study. Coaching classes are not required, in my opinion. However, coaching institutes can develop a sense of competency in you. You will be more confident in the exams, as you will already be mentally prepared for them, with the experience of various mock tests that you prepared for in your coaching institute.
My college life
Till now, my experience in the college has been a mixed bag.
Here, you will get a good environment for whatever you want, but you have to explore it yourself. The logic of 75% attendance and the assignment process is way above my head, since I don’t know how copying assignments is going to help students in any way.
Some teachers are very good, some are okayish, and you will also find some who are out of this world. But that’s the way it is. Overall, the teachers are cooperative in many ways.
Sports is a plus point for this college, as it organizes many state and national-level sport fests. The popular among all is Chakravyuh, which is a national-level sports fest in which different teams from different colleges participate in different competitions.
Many cultural and technical fests are also organized here, giving students the chance to express themselves more and more.
I think I have taken a tactical (if not good) decision to get into this college. Here, the placement condition is good if you are in CS, IT or ECE, but for other branches, the competition is more intense because most of the companies that come here are IT-based firms.
My tip for you guys is – First, decide your career path. Get details on the internet (I believe you can find almost everything there, just Google it) and do whatever it takes to achieve your goals. Don’t run for marks only, as knowledge is far more important.
