POWER GRID PESL 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Q:   Can I opt for any paper in the GATE two paper combination list?
A:

No, applicants cannot opt for any paper from the combination list. Candidates can only select from the options provided by the GATE authorities in the GATE 2026 paper combination list. For example, a CS student has the free will to choose from the following set of exam papers: DA, EC, GE, MA, PH, and ST. 

Q:   Can commerce students apply for GATE exam?
A:

Yes, candidates having qualifying degree in B.Com can apply for GATE exam to get admission to the master's programmes in IITs and IISc. Candidates must go through the GATE information brochure carefully before applying. Also, students in 3rd year or final year in commerce are also eligible for GATE. 

Q:   For how many GATE papers can I apply and how much will I have to pay?
A:

You can apply for two GATE papers (maximum). While filling out the GATE application form, you need to select the primary and secondary paper. The GATE secondary paper must be from the subject list prescribed by the GATE authorities. Before adding the paper, go through the subject combination list and GATE paper codes. 

Candidates opting for two GATE papers will have to pay double the fees mentioned -

For example,  

  • If a general category candidate is applying for two GATE papers, then he/she has to pay a fee of INR 4000 (during the regular timeline) and INR 5000 (during the extended period).
  • The same applies to the female, SC, ST, and PwD category candidates, INR 2000 (during the regular time period) and INR 3000 (during the extended period). 

Candidates willing to apply for the program must meet following criteria -

Eligibility Details
Required qualification Aspirants must have completed full-time graduation in any discipline-  B.E/B.Tech or B.Sc Engineering in Electrical discipline or equivalent degree from a recognised university or institute. The minimum qualifying marks must be 60% or equivalent CGPA
Eligible disciplines Electrical/Electrical (Power), Electrical and Electronics, Power Systems Engineering, Power Engineering (Electrical). Must have appeared and qualified for the GATE examination in Electrical Engineering paper. 
Upper Age Limit

The upper age limit of the candidate must be 28 years. Relaxation is offered to the candidates as per the government norms. 

   
   
   

PESL 2025 Selection Process

PESL selection process consists of normalised marks obtained (out of 100) in corresponding GATE paper, followed by behavioural assessment, group discussion, and personal interview. Candidates can check their qualification status through their candidate log-in to the Online Application System. Shortlisted candidates can also download their interview call letter and other relevant documents through the candidate login. Selected candidates can opt for the GD process in Hindi or English. Final scores will be based on following -

Pay Scale/Designation on Regularisation

Selected candidates will go through one-year training period. During this phase, they will be paid INR 30000 to INR 1,20,000 (IDA, HRA, and perks at 12% of basic pay) per month. After training is complete, they will be assigned at "Assistant Engineer" position at E0 level in payscale of INR 30000 to INR 1,20,000. 

A service agreement bond will be offered for general/OBC and EWS candidates and INR 2,50,000 for SC/ST and PwBD candidates to serve Corporation for a minimum of thre years after completing training period.

PESL 2025 Application Fees

PESL GATE application form fee is INR 500 (non-refundable) for general category candidates. Fees for reserved category applicants are exempted.

A:

The eligible GATE 2026 two-paper combinations for XE, XH, and XL are as follows -

How to Apply for the PESL GATE 2025 Application Form?

Eligible candidates interested in applying for PESL Trainee Engineer position must register online by providing their GATE application and registration number. The GATE exam is conducted once a year. The entrance test takes place on multiple dates and shifts for 30 test papers. For 2026, IIT Guwahati is conducting the exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15.

Yes, IIT Guwahati has extended the GATE 2026 registration date with late fees. The new GATE 2026 registration date is October 13.

The GATE cutoff changes every year depending on seat intake, number of applicants appeared in exam, toughness of question paper, and previous cutoff trends. Candidates who meet cutoff score can participate for counselling.

No, a duplicate GATE 2026 admit card will not be provided at the test center. Candidates must carry their own admit card along with the mentioned documents and items to the GATE exam center. IIT Guwahati will release the GATE admit card on January 2.

Yes, candidates will get a scribble pad in the GATE exam 2026 to do the rough work. Candidates have to write their name and registration number on the scribble pad before using it. However, the rough sheet must be returned after the completion of the exam.

The barcode present in the GATE admit card 2026 carries the candidate's information. It is required for a faster verification process and fraud prevention. So, make sure it does not get tampered. Carry multiple copies in case your GATE 2026 hall ticket is torn or tampered.

Candidates who are appearing for the GATE exam must carry a valid ID proof along with a passport-size photograph, transperant water bottle, and pen (blue or black) along with GATE 2026 hall ticket. We advise to carry atleast two to three copies of admit card to the centre.
