Success comes with great efforts and patience. There can be many cases in life in which you will fail but you have to be enthusiastic in life. No one gets success in the first attempt so don't give up hope and be strong.

  1. Whether to drop a year or not?: After getting a low score in JEE Main this is the question that strikes everyone. But this decision is to be taken by keeping many points in mind. If you have prepared well and during the exam, you just cannot cope with the pressure then you must go for the drop. But if you gave your best in the exam and the result came bad, I will not suggest a drop. Also, consider your financial conditions because a drop will cost around Rs 2 lakh. If you are still confused, I will suggest you take the help of a consultant.
  2. Best colleges one can get with low scores: I will be specifically talking for students who belong to Punjab. If you get a low score you can go for below colleges. I will suggest that first try to get admission in government universities and if you don't get any then go for private ones.
  • Government colleges/universities: Punjab University (Chandigarh), Guru Nanak Dev University(Amritsar), Punjabi University (Patiala).
  • Private colleges/universities: Chitkara University (Chandigarh), Chandigarh University, Lovely Professional University(Phagwara) and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College(Ludhiana).
  1. Should one wait for the subsequent counselling sessions: If you are ready for compromising your passion for a good college. I will suggest you wait for the counselling because you might get a good college but the branch will be not according to your passion. You might get the desired branch but college will not be good. I will suggest you give other engineering entrance exams such as BITS, VIT,  and many others. There will be higher chances that you will get a better branch and better facilities.
  2. Opt to attempt JEE Mains again in May: Yes, I will suggest you go for this attempt. This time you will be experienced, more prepared and you will be able to give more efficiency. But after the previous exam, you should analyze the areas where you were not able to perform effectively. For the May test prepare those subjects properly and also have a touch to the subjects on which you were good. Try to use time more effectively and this time nail the exam.

Yes, JEE Mains has been listed as an accepted entrance exam for MIT Academy of Engineering BTech admission. The institute has also listed MHT-CET as its accepted entrance exam. Thus, candidates with a JEE Mains score can apply directly without appearing for MHT-CET.

Students who gave the JEE Main session 2 exam and want to take admission at IITs should start preparing for the JEE Advanced exam. Students with a more than 98th percentile should start to study for the JEE Advanced exam.

Those who have secured a percentile between 95th and 98th should focus more on

With a JEE Main percentile of 90.94 and CRL rank ~1.4 Lacs (female, general category), you have realistic chances in mid-tier NITs (later rounds), state government colleges, and strong private universities in Tamil Nadu and Bangalore for ECE/EEE. Top NITs/IIITs are unlikely, but good regional option

With a JEE Main 2026 rank of 400,510 (≈ 70 percentile), admission to NITs, IIITs, or top GFTIs through JoSAA counseling is not possible.

 Why?

    • Even for lower-demand branches (Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy), closing ranks are usually within 2–2.5 Lacs (General category).

With a JEE Main CRL rank of ~79,364 and an EWS category rank of ~11,884, you have a realistic chance of securing CSE in several mid-tier NITs, newer IIITs, and some GFTIs. Top NITs (Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad) are out of reach, but options like NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, IIIT Kota, III
