Admissions to IIT Kharagpur Courses

One needs to clear a written entrance examination, and those scores are used to admit students to undergraduate and postgraduate programs at IIT Kharagpur. The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination is used to determine admission to undergraduate programs at all IITs (IIT-JEE). Candidates who qualify for admission through IIT-JEE can apply for admission to IIT Kharagpur's four-year BTech (Bachelor of Technology) degree, five-year B.Arch degree, five-year Dual Degree (Integrated Bachelor & Master of Technology), or five-year integrated MSc (Master of Sciences). 15% of the seats are reserved for students from Scheduled Castes (SC) and 7.5% for students from Scheduled Tribes (ST) (ST). In addition, there is a separate 27% reservation for the Other Backward Classes.

1. BTech Programs are the most popular program offered at IIT Kharagpur. With over 15 specialisations available, the program is on the list of all engineering aspirants. 

B.Tech Aerospace Engineering seems to be students’ favorite.

Eligibility: 10 2 with 75% or more marks, JEE Main JEE Advanced JoSAA Counselling 

Fee: INR 8 Lakhs to 10.5 Lakhs

2. MTech degree from IIT Kharagpur adds immense credibility to your resume.

Eligibility: Students need to have Bachelors degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture or Masters degree in Science/ Arts with a minimum aggregate 60% (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD) or UPSC/AICTE with a minimum aggregate of 60% (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD)

Applicants must pass a GATE paper in the discipline of their qualifying degree (if a GATE paper is available in such a discipline). Only in disciplines where no relevant GATE paper exists, are the XE/XL/XH papers of the GATE examination applicable. NET-qualified applicants are also eligible for admission to MCP.

Fee: INR 11.35 to 15 Lakhs

3. B.Arch Hons is a five-year course that sets you up for a great degree and even better placement opportunities are offered at IIT Kharagpur. 

Eligibility: 10 2 with 75% or more marks, JEE Main JEE Advanced, NATA, AAT

Fee: INR 50 Thousands

4. Humanities and Social Sciences is another department offering courses like English Language and Literature, Linguistics, German, Sanskrit, History, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, and Human Resourse 

Eligibility: 

1. 65% marks or a CGPA of 7 on 10 point scale in the qualifying examination (M.A./ M.Sc.) in Humanities/Social Sciences (including Economics)/ Engineering (M.Tech/MS/ME/M.Sc)/Science (M. Sc.)/ Commerce (M.Com)/Management (MBA) and/or equivalent:  For General Category/EWS
2. 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on 10 point scale in the qualifying examination (M.A./ M.Sc.) in Humanities/Social Sciences (including Economics)/ Engineering (M.Tech/MS/ME/M.Sc)/Science (M. Sc.)/ Commerce (M.Com)/Management (MBA) and/or equivalent: For OBC/SC/ST/PwD
3. 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on 10 point scale in class 10th, 12th, and in BA/B.Sc/ B.Com/equivalent degree.

Fee: INR 50 Thousand to 1.5 Lakhs

5. Law: In 2006, the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law was established, the first of its kind in the IIT system. It is part of a global effort to integrate technology and law in order to train lawyers to deal with legal issues at the intersection of technology and law. LLB, LLM and research options are available. 

Eligibility: 

LLB - 60% or more in 10 2 

LLM - 8.5 or more CGPA in LLB

Fee: INR 2.8 to 3.55 Lakhs
