SSC GD Recruitment 2026: Check Selection Process, Eligibility, Vacancy & Stages

In the SSC GD exam, candidates need to give their preferences for posts while filling out the online form. Candidates need to choose seven Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in order of priority. It is compulsory to fill out a total of seven SSC GD post preferences of forces in the application form.

Candidates must be of minimum 18 years of age in order to be eligible for SSC GD exam. The upper SSC GD age limit is 23 years. However, the Commission provides a relaxation in the upper age limit for all the reserved categories such as OBC, SC, ST, ExS and others. Yes, a Class 10th pass candidate can apply for the SSC GD exam. The SSC GD educational qualification is Matric/ High School/ Class 10th. However, candidates appearing in Class 10th exam are not eligible to apply for SSC GD recruitment.

Yes, there is physical test in the SSC GD Constable exam. Candidates who clear the SSC GD exam (CBE) are called to appear for the physical test which is conducted by the CRPF. The SSC GD physical test comprises following process:

• Candidates need to fulfill SSC GD height/ weight requirement and undergo measurement of height, weight and chest as mentioned in the official notification
• Candidates need to perform a race within the given SSC GD running time limits.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conductes the SSC GD exam every year for the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other forces. The SSC GD post is generally referred to Constable GD, Riflemen GD and Sepoy. These posts are filled in the following forces:

As per the feedback shared by candidates who took the SSC GD 2025 session exam, the overall difficulty level was easy to moderate and the same goes for the SSC GD question paper level of the 2024 session. 

SSC GD recruitment is done in total eight forces. For the post of Constable (GD), the recruitment is done in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Assam Rifles (AR), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Secretariat Security Force (SSF). For the post of Rifleman (GD), recruitment is done in Assam Rifles and Sepoy is posted in the NCB.

Candidates belonging to unreserved category need to secure minimum 30 per cent aggregate marks to qualify SSC GD exam. Have a look at the SSC GD qualifying cutoff percentage below:

• Other Backward Class (OBC)/ EWS: 25 per cent
• Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ PwD: 20 per cent

It may be noted that the final SSC GD merit list is prepared only on the basis of candidates’ performance in SSC GD CBE exam. PET, PST and medical examination are only qualifying in nature.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) releases the SSC GD result after the completion of the assessment process. The SSC GD result is announced at ssc.gov.in. Along with the GD result, the commission announces the force-wise and category-wise GD Constable Cut Off. The SSC GD marks is also released. The SSC GD marks and score card contain the section-wise scores of candidates. The SSC GD result only contains the qualifying status, cut off marks and force-wise qualifying numbers. 

The SSC GD full form is Staff Selection Commission General Duty. The complete exam name is SSC GD Constable recruitment, which is a yearly exam conducted at the national level. Yes, the SSC GD exam is generally conducted every year. The SSC GD notification is released by the Staff Selection Commission SSC every year based on the vacancies intimated by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Maharashtra).
