UGC NET 2018 Students Reaction: The paper II of UGC NET 2018 was conducted on December 18, 2018. National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting UGC NET 2018 for four more days continuously till December 22, 2018. Both UGC NET 2018 Paper I and Paper II are being conducted in two shifts in different time slots on all scheduled exam dates for UGC NET 2018. NTA, the new exam conducting body has introduced few changes in UGC NET for this year onwards including changing the mode of exam from Pen-paper based test to Computer-based test mode.
Moreover, major changes in UGC NET 2018 Exam Pattern has been made such as the number of papers reduced to only two from three papers in previous years. UGC NET 2018 paper-I comprising 50 questions based on 10 different sections and Paper-II consists 100 objective type questions of the subject selected by candidates. The test takers had mixed reactions to these major changes made in UGC NET 2018 by NTA.
Let us take a look at how students reacted for UGC NET 2018 Paper II as around 1000 candidates appeared for the exam at the test centre in Noida, iON Digital Zone.
Pradeep, a journalist by profession, appeared for History subject in UGC NET Paper II. He took the exam for the second time this year. He said the key change this year was that UGC NET 2018 is being conducted in Computer-based mode. He found the Paper II of UGC NET 2018 of same difficulty level as last year. However, he mentioned that Modern History section was quite tough than last year. Moreover, there were no questions from Ancient History section, Pre-historic section even expected topics such as Paleolithic and Mesolithic did not appear among the questions. Overall, UGC NET Paper II for History subject was majorly based on Modern Indian History and Medieval Indian History, with more weightage given to Modern Indian History.

Mohit appeared for Mass Communication subject in UGC NET 2018 Paper II and found the paper to be of balanced/moderate difficulty level. Of the 100 questions for UGC NET Paper II, there were easy MCQs and tough questions in equal numbers. He also mentioned that there were some glitches in Unseen Passage section of paper 1 but no such difficulties were faced in UGC NET 2018 Paper II. Overall, he said that the test takers who prepared well for UGC NET 2018 must have attempted the paper with ease.
Shiriyaksh, a student in Amity University appeared in UGC NET 2018 Paper II for Forensic Science subject. Since this was his first attempt for UGC NET, he found the question paper moderate in difficulty level with equal weightage in tough and easy questions. He shared that Paper II for Forensic Sciences was majorly based on Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science and Forensics from UGC NET 2018 Syllabus only.

Another test taker, Rajat who attempted UGC NET in previous years also, appeared for History subject for Paper II. He said, UGC NET Paper II for History subject was of average difficulty, with few tough questions in the exam. He added that he faced difficulty in taking the exam as NTA has changed UGC NET 2018 exam pattern and test mode (changed to CBT mode from Pen-paper).
UGC NET is a qualifying exam to select candidates for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and for the posts of Assistant Professor in various Universities and Colleges in India. Earlier, the exam was organised by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) but from this year onwards, NTA became the exam conducting authority for UGC NET.

The UGC NET result 2026 for the June session be released on the official portal at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Candidates will be required their login credentials to download their result including the application number and date of birth.
