Scroll down for more detail about NIMCET Preparation.
NIMCET Mathematics section will consist of 50 questions. The topics covered in set theory and calculus are mentioned below:
- Set Theory: Concept of sets, union, intersection, cardinality, elementary counting; permutations and combinations.
- Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of functions by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, applications of definite integrals to areas.
- Study Plan, in which check current standing, that is, what is the level of preparation. Analyse your preparation and proceed accordingly in these few days. Self-study plays an important role.
- Make a schedule for these few days and study accordingly. Or you can set your daily routine, like in the morning, to focus on mathematics for at least two or three hours. Practice topics, sample papers, etc. Further, two hours in the afternoon can be given to the reasoning. In the evening session, you can practice computer awareness. At night, work on General English and revise some formulas before sleeping.
- Revision and practice. Focus and revise weak subject. Make a note or flash card on which you can see the progress of the revision.
- Mock tests are also very important; at least solve two mock tests in a day. The mock test gives the real picture of where the practice stands.
- Stay healthy and calm, and ensure to get regular sleep. Take short breaks in between studies, do some meditation, or exercise.
- Stay positive and confident.
- In the last two to three days flash cards will help. Don't learn new topics.
- One day before the exam, in the morning, solve one mock test; after that, don't solve the mock test. Keep your admit card ready and take proper sleep. Prepare all your stationary material that needs to be carried to the examination centre.
- Reach the examination centre at least one hour before the exam.
What should the candidate not do? Check Below:
- Don't Procrastinate.
- Don't cram last minute.

The NIMCET is conducted by an individual NIT on a rotational basis every year. So the NIT that is conducting the NIMCET in that year will release the NIMCET answer key. In 2025, the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli conducted the NIMCET and hence, released the answer key.

The time-period required to complete the NIMCET preparation depends on students. Every student has their own pace of study. Ideally, 3-4 month is good enough for completing the NIMCET preparation. Students who have started preparing during their BCA can easily prepare for NIMCET in 4 months considering the topics of exam syllabus have already been studied in BCA.
NIMCET preparation is most effective with BCA as almost 90-95 percent topics are similar in both exams. This way students can easily complete the entire NIMCET syllabus as well as syllabus of BCA. After the graduation exams, students get 2-3 month where they can focus entirely on NIMCET.
Students who have started late for the NIMCET exam can make a 6-month plan where in the first three months they have to focus on revising the syllabus studied in BCA. In the next two months’ focus on solving questions of NIMCET and analyzing the mistakes being made, if any. The last one month should be focused on solving mock tests and NIMCET previous year question papers.
