Best Books for NIMCET 2024 Preparation

Q:   How many months are required to prepare for NIMCET exam?
A:

The time-period required to complete the NIMCET preparation depends on students. Every student has their own pace of study. Ideally, 3-4 month is good enough for completing the NIMCET preparation. Students who have started preparing during their BCA can easily prepare for NIMCET in 4 months considering the topics of exam syllabus have already been studied in BCA.

NIMCET preparation is most effective with BCA as almost 90-95 percent topics are similar in both exams. This way students can easily complete the entire NIMCET syllabus as well as syllabus of BCA. After the graduation exams, students get 2-3 month where they can focus entirely on NIMCET.

Students who have started late for the NIMCET exam can make a 6-month plan where in the first three months they have to focus on revising the syllabus studied in BCA. In the next two months’ focus on solving questions of NIMCET and analyzing the mistakes being made, if any. The last one month should be focused on solving mock tests and NIMCET previous year question papers.

Q:   What are the topics covered in set theory and calculus in mathematics for the NIMCET exam?
A:

NIMCET Mathematics section will consist of 50 questions. The topics covered in set theory and calculus are mentioned below:

  • Set Theory: Concept of sets, union, intersection, cardinality, elementary counting; permutations and combinations.
  • Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of functions by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, applications of definite integrals to areas.

NIMCET 2024: Last Minute Preparation Tips

Candidates can check out some simple techniques that can be used to prepare in a more effective manner. Every candidate knows about it, but the most important thing is to follow, and we have tried to compile each step of the last minute preparation here so that if anything is missing, it can be checked by the candidates and followed. Scroll down for more detail about NIMCET Preparation.

  • Study Plan, in which check current standing, that is, what is the level of preparation. Analyse your preparation and proceed accordingly in these few days. Self-study plays an important role.
  • Make a schedule for these few days and study accordingly. Or you can set your daily routine, like in the morning, to focus on mathematics for at least two or three hours. Practice topics, sample papers, etc. Further, two hours in the afternoon can be given to the reasoning. In the evening session, you can practice computer awareness. At night, work on General English and revise some formulas before sleeping.
  • Revision and practice. Focus and revise weak subject. Make a note or flash card on which you can see the progress of the revision.
  • Mock tests are also very important; at least solve two mock tests in a day. The mock test gives the real picture of where the practice stands.
  • Stay healthy and calm, and ensure to get regular sleep. Take short breaks in between studies, do some meditation, or exercise.
  • Stay positive and confident.
  • In the last two to three days flash cards will help. Don't learn new topics.
  • One day before the exam, in the morning, solve one mock test; after that, don't solve the mock test. Keep your admit card ready and take proper sleep. Prepare all your stationary material that needs to be carried to the examination centre.
  • Reach the examination centre at least one hour before the exam.

What should the candidate not do? Check Below:

Candidates admission into NIT is based on depending on your All India Rank (AIR); top ranks (under 100) usually NIT Trichy or Warangal which are top NITs. Mid-range ranks (500–1500) get placements in mid-tier NITs like Raipur, Agartala, or Jamshedpur.

NIMCET is more difficult as it is national-level exam. Its focus is on high-level Mathematics. On the other hand, MHT CET (for MCA) is state-level and emphasizes speed over complex conceptual depth.

The NIMCET exam is considered as a moderately difficult entrance test because only about 2% of test-takers secure a seat in top NITs.

Yes. The cutoff (opening and closing ranks) is released after each round of centralised counselling. Typically, there are three primary rounds followed by a special/spot round if seats remain vacant at participating NITs.

No. You must secure a positive score in Mathematics; there is no other way around. If you score 0 or minus (because of negative marking) you automatically get disqualified from ranking, irrespective of your score in other sections.

Scoring above 360 marks (~700+ weighted marks) is considered excellent and can secure you a rank within the top 100 and study at NIT Trichy or NIT Warangal.

No. You cannot manually convert CGPA to percentage or vice-versa to qualify. If your university uses a 10-point scale, a 6.5 CGPA is the minimum requirement for General/OBC candidates.

Here is how you can determine if your NIMCET score is good -

Score Possible Rank What This Means
360+Top 100Excellent: You can likely pick any top NIT you want, like the popular ones in Trichy or Warangal.
300 - 359101 - 500Very Good: You have a high chance of getting into a strong NIT.
240 - 299501 - 1500Good Goal: You can likely secure a spot in a mid-tier NIT.
Below 120Low ChancesDifficult: Getting a seat at any NIT is very unlikely with this score.
