The National Law Universities formed their Consortium to conduct the Common Law Admission Test. This exam is conducted every year to select candidates for the Law courses offered by the NLUs. The Consortium releases the CLAT selection process on its portal. The CLAT selection process start with the registration process and ends with the admission to the NLU. CLAT 2027 registrations started on August 3 and the last date to apply for the exam is November 7 now. Candidates can see the stages of CLAT Selection process in detail here.

CLAT Selection Process 2027: Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted to select the candidates for the Law Courses offered by the participating National Law Universities(NLUs). Candidates should note that the CLAT Selection process starts with the registration process and ends with the admission in the NLU. The Consortium of NLUs released the event schedule on July 22 on its official website. The CLAT 2027 registration started on August 3 and the last date to fill the CLAT applications is November 7 now. The Consortium extended the CLAT registration dates on the last day.

As per the event schedule, the CLAT 2027 exam date is December 6. The Consoritum will conduct the CLAT in offlline mode and the candidates will be required to mark their answers on the OMR sheet provided at the examination centre. Candidates are required to select their examination centre based on their place of residence or convenience. The CLAT 2027 selection process started with the release of notification and will end with the completion of admission process at the NLUs.

The Consortium will release the CLAT result within a fortnight of the exam and notify the candidates to download their CLAT scorecard. Candidates will be required to fill in their preferences for the NLUs in the Counselling registration form. Candidates have to fill in their specific university preferences carefully during the CLAT counselling. The authority conducts multiple counselling rounds to fill available seats in undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. Students can either freeze or float their allocated seat during the counselling process. After this, document verification and fee payment confirm their seat in the college.

The selection process for CLAT 2027 involves various steps, and it is important to understand it. Check all the steps and processes.

CLAT Eligibility 2027

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be issued the CLAT Admit Card. Candidates can check the CLAT Exam Eligibility for both the UG and PG programs below

Eligibility for UG Program

Candidates who meet the following criteria are eligible for the CLAT UG Program (BA LLB). Parameters that candidates need to meet to fulfil CLAT eligibility criteria for undergraduate (UG ) level law courses are mentioned below. Candidates should clear Class 12 with a minimum 45 per cent aggregate (applicable for candidates belonging to General/ Other Backward Class (OBC)/ Person with Disability (PwD)/ Non-Resident Indian (NRI)/ Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) category)
Candidates should clear Class 12 with a minimum 40 per cent aggregate (applicable for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) category)
Candidates appearing for their Class 12 board examinations in March/April are also eligible to apply for the CLAT 2027 exam. However, such candidates need to produce proof of passing Class 12 or an equivalent exam at the time of admission. Candidates unable to produce the evidence shall forfeit their right of admission through the CLAT exam

Eligibility for CLAT PG Program

CLAT 2027 Marking Scheme

The consortium releases the marking scheme for CLAT Exam. Aspirants can refer to the marking scheme for UG courses below

For every correct answer, candidates will be awarded one mark
For every wrong attempt, 0.25 marks will be deducted from their total score.
No marks will be awarded or deducted for questions not left unattempted.

CLAT Answer Key

The Consortium releases the CLAT Provisional Answer Key PDF first. Candidates can challenge the same until the CLAT Objection Window is open. Once the Consortium received all the objections, it releases the CLAT Final Answer Key. The result for CLAT Exam will be released based on CLAT Final Answer Key.

CLAT Results and Merit List

The Consortium will release the CLAT Results along with the CLAT First Merit list for both UG and PG programs. Candidates will be ranked according to their scores, and the merit list will determine their eligibility for the next stage.

How to Check CLAT 2027 Result?

What after CLAT 2027 Seat Allotment Result - Counselling Process

All candidates will be allotted seat through these steps:

Accept the seat: This option is used by candidates to confirm their choice of NLU. Once the lock option is used, a candidate's seat at the allotted NLU is frozen. Thereafter, the candidate need not participate in further seat allotment rounds and complete the remaining admission formalities (mentioned below).

Apply for Upgrade: This option is used when candidates want to change the allotted institute to their higher choice (upward shifting). Candidates choosing to upgrade are considered active participants; therefore, they too need to complete the remaining admission formalities (mentioned below).

Exit from seat allotment: Candidates can choose to exit from the counselling process if they do not wish to participate in the current or further rounds of counselling. It may be noted that once exited, candidates will not be given another chance to participate in the counselling for NLU admissions.

Completing admission formalities

If a candidate accepts the allotted seat or applies for an upgrade, they need to upload all the prescribed documents on the official website for verification. Thereafter, they also need to pay the remaining admission fee to the allotted NLU.
