NIT Jamshedpur Hosts Science Innovation Camp, Inspiring Creative Research Among Students
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Jamshedpur organized a one-day Science Innovation Camp, highlighting the crucial role of innovation and creativity in advancing science.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur hosted a Science Innovation Camp, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The event featured Dr. Dev Kumar Chakraborty, former Professor of Design at IIT Guwahati, as the Chief Guest, with Dr. S.K. Singh, Chairman of B.Ed. College, serving as the Special Guest.
In his inaugural address, event coordinator Prof. Satish Kumar stressed the importance of innovation and creativity in science. The camp saw participation from around 160 students from nearby colleges and schools. Dr. Dev Kumar Chakraborty highlighted the latest advancements in engineering and science, urging students to approach learning with dedication. Dr. S.K. Singh encouraged entrepreneurial thinking and emphasized the value of research, while Prof. M. Hasan spoke about the pivotal role of the Indian knowledge system in shaping education.
The camp concluded with Prof. Sanjay, Head of the Department, providing insights into NIT Jamshedpur’s advanced research facilities and inspiring students to engage in innovation and research. Prof. Satish praised the event for fostering scientific knowledge and collaboration.

It is good to pursue MTech course at NIT Jamshedpur. National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, provides a two-year full-time MTech programme. For admission, candidates must visit the official website of the institute to submit an online application. Candidates are selected on the basis of GATE exam scores. Aspirants must fulfil the eligibility criteria, i.e., a candidate must have passed and secured at least a 6.5 CGPA or 60% aggregate in graduation. As per placement, there were more than 250 companies that visited during NIT Jamshedpur placements 2023. The overall placement rate stood at 98.87%. The top recruiters were Axis Bank, Deloitte, DE Shaw and Co., Flipkart, ICICI Bank, Genpact, Oracle, etc.
