Overview

PUMDET 2026: The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) have released no official announcement about getting into PUMDET 2026 exam. PUMDET exam usually happens in July. Since no schedule or application form is currently available, this year's event is unlikely to be held. 

WBJEEB conducts PUMDET or Presidency University Master's Degree Entrance Test, yearly for MA and MSc seats at Presidency University. You should check their main website, wbjeeb.nic.in/pumdet/.
PUMDET application form is expected to be out by June 2026. Candidates who qualify for the PUMDET 2026 eligibility criteria can fill out the application form once it is released. Only those who successfully fill out the PUMDET 2026 application form will be eligible to appear in the exam. Registered candidates will be issued PUMDET admit card for appearing in the exam. What is PUMDET?

PUMDET is held by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) to select students for MA and MSc courses at Presidency University, Kolkata. PUMDET have different tests for science and humanities streams. When you apply through PUMDET, you can choose up to two subjects only. Presidency University is very popular in West Bengal, so many students try for PUMDET for their postgrad studies. Because lots of people apply and seats are limited, the exam is getting more competitive every year.

PUMDET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The PUMDET eligibility criteria based on nationality, age limit, and academic qualifications are mentioned in the space below. 

As per Nationality: Citizen of India

Age Limit: No upper or lower age limit

Academic Qualification

  • Have cleared (not before 2020) or appeared for the BA (Hons) examination in 2026 from any recognized University.
  • Have appeared for the BA (Hons) exam and should have their final results at the time of counselling and produce their original mark sheets/grade cards of all semester/annual examinations passed at the Bachelor’s level. Such candidates must fulfil the academic eligibility norms for their applied courses tabled below for admission.
  • Have appeared for their final BA (Hons) examination, but their final results have not been declared at the time of counselling, such candidates shall be given provisional admission on the basis of the production of their previous mark sheets/grade cards of all previous semester/annual examinations at their Bachelor’s level. However, candidates are supposed to submit their final mark sheet by the mentioned date to ensure that they fulfil their minimum eligibility criteria for admission.
  • Must secure the minimum required percentage of marks/CGPA in honours/major subject as per the following table in their BA (Hons) examination for final and confirmed admission.

The PUMDET 2026 application form is likely to be released online in June 2026. It is advised that the applicants check the PUMDET eligibility criteria before filling form. Before filling application form, they must register with their personal details and contact details. Then they can go on to fill the form with particulars like academic details, course preferences, exam centre preferences, etc. The PUMDET application fee must also be paid online right after filling out form. All can pay the application fee for PUMDET using net banking/ debit card/ credit card or by cash using Allahabad Bank e-challan. The fee amount is mentioned below.

PUMDET Pattern & Syllabus

PUMDET exam pattern is very simple. The exams consist of multiple-choice questions. The questions appear with four options. Only one of four options is correct. The total number of questions asked in one paper is 50. For every correct answer, there are marks. The total marks for the entire exam is 100. The students are expected to answer all questions. The total time allotted for completion of exams is 90 minutes. Giving too much time to one question is not good. Practice is necessary before exams.

The PUMDET syllabus is made to check how well you know your chosen subject at undergraduate level. The exam includes many streams like science, arts, social science, and language subjects. Each subject mostly follows the undergraduate Honours or Major syllabus of Presidency University or any other recognised Indian university. This helps to keep the PUMDET exam level same for all students. Some papers only test subject knowledge, while few also include English language and logical reasoning part. PUMDET Admit Card will be released by the exam body, WBJEEB, on the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in. To get your PUMDET 2026 admit card, you need to login with your application number and date of birth. Important details for the exam day like exam timing, reporting time, and exam centre address will be on the admit card. You must carry your admit card to the exam centre. If you forget it, you won’t be allowed to sit for the exam.

PUMDET exam centres are given to applicants based on the options they choose while filling the application form. But once the authorities allot a centre, it will be final and cannot be changed. Requests to change the allotted centre will not be accepted in normal cases. Candidates can only pick the exam city, not the exact venue.
