ANM full form is Auxiliary Nurse & Midwife, a 2-year-long undergraduate certificate-level program, designed to offer basic Nursing education, such as OT, record keeping, equipment handling, etc., particularly in maternal and child health. It prepares students for roles in rural healthcare, primary medical care, administering vaccinations, and maternal and child health.

In the two-year curriculum of the ANM course, 18 months are designated for theory and practical work, meanwhile, the remaining 6 months are for a mandatory internship in a healthcare facility. The minimum age for ANM admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which admission is sought, and the maximum age shall be 30 years.

Some popular colleges for the ANM course in India are Parul University, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Integral University, Assam Downtown University, Avadh Institute of Medical Technology and Hospital, Rama University, etc. The average course fee ranges from INR 50,000 to INR 3.5 Lakh.

Community Health Nursing Community Health Nursing bridges the gap between healthcare and underserved communities like organizations, schools, and businesses, providing them with health education, medical services, and rehabilitation. 
Child Health Nursing (Paediatric Nursing) Child Health Nursing is focused on offering care for infants, children, and adolescents, including support to mothers and other family members.
Midwifery It is focused on offering extensive care to patients, specifically women and newborns, throughout the reproductive lifespan, which is during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.
Primary Health Care Nursing Primary Health Care is any medical facility provided outside the premises of a hospital, such as aged care, community health, general practice, custodial, schools, and many other primary health care settings.
Health Centre Management It teaches about how to manage hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. It includes topics such as hospital administration, healthcare policies, medical ethics, finance, and healthcare technology.

Q. What is the difference between GNM and ANM?

A. GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) is a 3-year-long program covering various nursing subjects, such as medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics, community health, and mental health nursing.

Meanwhile, ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) is a 1.5 - 2-year program focused the basic nursing skills, maternal and child health, and community health. It is less broader than GNM.

Q. What is ANM Vs GNM Vs BSc Nursing?

A. Both ANM & GNM students can work in government as well as private sectors. The ANM Nursing course helps aspiring Nurses to pursue their dreams of becoming a nurse if they come from a Non-Science Class 12 background.

Other than that, the primary distinction between ANM & GNM courses is the time taken for both these program. GNM is of longer duration than the course of ANM thus, it has more opportunities in terms of growth and compensation.

Again, candidates have the option to pursue GNM Nursing course after they have completed the ANM Nursing Diploma course.

Now, as far as BSc Nursing is concerned, it is a 4-year degree course in comparison to ANM & GNM, which are at the Diploma level. It has additional emphasis on practical exposure of the nursing students. It has further more opportunities available in terms of growth and compensation.
