RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria 2024: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases RBI Grade B eligibility criteria 2024 along with the notification. The RBI Grade B notification will be released as a PDF on July 18, 2024. For General category candidates, there is a limit of six attempts, whereas, there is no limitation in the number of attempts for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/EWS. RBI Grade B eligibility comprises age limit, educational qualification, number of attempts and nationality. Candidates who are employed with RBI can also apply for the exam if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The status of such candidates will be verified at the time of the interview. If they are not eligible to be treated as staff candidates, they are advised to indicate themselves as non-staff candidates and pay fees/ intimation charges as applicable to non-staff candidates.

Candidates applying for the exam must check RBI Grade B 2024 eligibility criteria before and ensure that they fulfill them. The eligibility of candidates is verified at the time of document verification and anyone who does not meet the eligibility parameters will be rejected from the recruitment process. RBI Grade B Officers are entitled to the following perks and allowances: Back Accommodation Medical Allowance Leave Fare Concession Furnishing of Residence Miscellaneous Allowance (Fuel, Furniture, etc. ) The gross monthly emoluments of RBI Grade B is INR 1,08,404. This is including the perks and benefits offered to candidates. The allowances of RBI Grade B that candidates are entitled to along with the salary are given below:

A:
The application fee of RBI Grade B can be paid online only. Candidates are not required to send the hard copy of the application form. They need to check the eligibility before filling the online form.

RBI Grade B Eligibility 2024

RBI Grade B eligibility includes details about RBI Grade B age limit, RBI Grade B educational qualification, nationality and many more. RBI Grade B eligibility is explained for all categories such as General, ST, SC, OBC, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen. RBI Grade B age limit is 21 to 30 years for unreserved categories. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories are given relaxation in the upper age limit. RBI Grade B educational qualification is graduation with 60 per cent (50 per cent for SC/ST/PwBD candidates). There is also a limit on the number of attempts in the RBI Grade B exam.

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria 2024: Nationality

Candidates must be either:

  • Citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Indian origin person who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Candidates who have come from other countries must have the eligibility certificate issued by the Indian Government.

RBI Grade B Age Limit 2024

The age limit prescribed for the RBI Grade B 2024 exam is 21 to 30 years. For candidates having MPhil and PhD degrees, the upper age limit will be 32 and 34 years respectively. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories are given relaxation in the upper age limit as per government rule. The relaxation given to the reserved categories is given below:

The minimum educational qualification of RBI Grade B prescribed for the various posts is given below:

Posts Educational qualification

Officers Grade B-General

Graduation in any discipline /equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 60 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) or Post-Graduation in any discipline/ equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 55 per cent marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters/years. 

Graduate candidates should note that any technical or professional course from recognised university or institute that is taken after Class 12 and is at least of three years duration or those possessing professional or technical qualifications which are considered equivalent to professional or technical graduation are eligible to apply for the exam.

Postgraduate level candidates should note that any technical or professional course taken after graduation and is at least of two years duration or recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical post-graduation will be eligible for the exam.

Officers Grade B-DEPR

A Master’s Degree in Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance / Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics, with a minimum of 55 per cent and 50 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates having a second class or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute. Or

PGDM/MBA Finance with a minimum of 55 per cent and SC, ST and PwBD candidates must have a second class with 50 per cent or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University. Or

Postgraduate degree in Economics in any of the sub-categories of economics that are agricultural/business/ developmental/ applied, etc with a minimum of 55 per cent marks and 50 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates having second class.

A Doctorate Degree in Economics or research or teaching experience in Economics or publications in standard journals would be considered an additional qualification. 

Officers in Grade B-DSIM

Post-graduation in Statistics /Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/Statistics & Informatics from IIT Kharagpur/Applied Statistics from IIT Bombay with 55 per cent marks and 50 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Or

Postgraduate degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55 per cent and 50 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates and one-year postgraduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute. Or

Postgraduate degree in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55 per cent marks and 50 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Or

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55 per cent and 50 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates.

Candidates with a doctorate in topics related to the above subjects will be given preference. Research or teaching experience and publication in standard journals will be considered as an additional qualification.

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria 2024: Number of Attempts

RBI has set limits on the number of attempts. Candidates belonging to the General Category who have already appeared six times for the Phase I examination in the past are not eligible to apply. There is no restriction to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/EWS.

A:
Yes, you need to mention your preferences separately for prelims and Mains exam of RBI Grade B. Candidates must choose exam centres as per their convenience. They should choose the exam city the nearest to their home. Candidates can choose RBI Grade B exam centres while filling the application form. Candidates can choose one exam city each for the prelims and Mains exams while filling the application form.
Q:   What is the job profile of RBI grade B officer and what are the future avenues?

The job profile of an RBI Grade B Officer includes managing and regulating the country's monetary policy. Candidates are They may be promoted to higher positions within the RBI to the position of Deputy Governor or Governor. 

Q:   Can I change my RBI Grade B exam centre if I am not satisfied?
A:
RBI Grade B exam centres once allotted cannot be changed by candidates. The preference of exam centres should be entered while filling the application form. The examination authority allots exam centres chosen by candidates. However, in case of unavailability of exam centres chosen by candidates, they are allotted to some other centres. RBI Grade B exam centres are allotted to candidates on the first-apply-first-allot basis. Therefore, candidates should apply early to get their preferred exam centres.
