A major part of General Awareness is Current Affairs. General Awareness means awareness regarding the day-to-day happenings in different fields. The candidates are expected to know and understand the current events of national and international importance. General Awareness can be asked from any area and field. The common question in the paper starts with “In the Newspapers, recently……..”. The questions generally give reference to the newspapers.
General intelligence and reasoning questions take time to solve. There are one or two questions that are very complex and placed in the question paper to consume the time of the candidates. Engineering Intelligence is the third component of the SSC JE Paper-1. The approach to Engineering Intelligence differs from candidate to candidate. It is a subjective choice.
The SSC JE (Junior Engineer) examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission is for the recruitment of junior engineers in various government departments and organizations. The posts offered through the SSC JE exam are generally classified as Group-B (Non-Gazetted) posts.
To be more specific, the SSC JE posts are considered as Group-B (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial posts. The selected candidates are appointed as junior engineers in different engineering disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Quantity Surveying and Contract.
It's worth noting that the SSC JE posts are not categorized as Grade A or Grade B. The grade system is typically used for categorizing posts in other examinations or job profiles. In the case of the SSC JE exam, the posts fall under Group-B (Non-Gazetted) classification.
The success rate is defined by the number of candidates qualified in the SSC JE exam over the number the candidates appeared for the exam. The overall percentage of the candidates qualified versus appeared in the exam is 5 to 6 per cent. That is why it is one of the most difficult exams in India. However, it may vary year to year as per the difficulty level and the number of vacancies released in that year.
The success percentage for the SSC JE exam showcae the competitive nature of the exam which draws aspirants from all over the India to compete for few seats in compare to the candidates registered for the exam. The selection ratio after the tier 1 is set to 1:3 that means, three aspirants will fight for 1 seat a well as the cut off for the Tier 1 is always higher than 80 per cent every year.

SSC JE 2022 Exam Last-Minute Tips
SSC JE paper 1 is just around the corner and the candidates who prepared for the SSC JE exam will be selected based on their performance in the SSC JE Paper-I. The two hours-time decides the selection of the candidates. The candidates can read the following tips and follow them to score better.
How to tackle negative marking?
Negative marking in the SSC JE Paper will deduct 0.25 marks for each of the wrong answers. The negative marking will have implications on the total score of the candidate. The candidates will lose a mark for every four wrong answers. It means that if in five answers, four are wrong, there will be no marks gained from those five questions. The time will also be lost in marking those questions. So the simplest way to reduce the impact of negative marking is that the candidates should avoid guessing the answers and mark only those answers where they know the right answer fully.
For the General Engineering section in SSC JE Paper 2, topics prepared for Paper 1 are usually enough. The Staff Selection Commission also prescribes the same topics for the General Engineering section of both papers. However, candidates must keep in mind that in the General Engineering section of Paper 2, 100 objective-based questions will be asked in the examination from the specific discipline chosen by candidates.
In case the candidate doesn’t know the answer, he can use the elimination process to arrive at the right answer. But it requires more knowledge of all the fields to implement the elimination process. The candidates must know about all the given options to eliminate the incorrect options.
How to prepare General Awareness?
General Awareness, if prepared in a well-planned manner, can prove a boon for the exam because it can save time and improve the overall score.
Candidates should revise the current affairs magazines to get the best information in the minimum time. The self-prepared notes are very helpful in the last leg of preparation. The candidates should avoid grasping new things at the last minute and try to revise the already prepared things. Revising is the key to the last moment of preparation and it will enhance the chances of marking the right answer if the question is asked from the prepared area.
