SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2025: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) announced the SSC Stenographer eligibility along with the notification. The eligibility includes factors such as the SSC Stenographer age limit, qualification, nationality/citizenship, number of attempts, etc. According to the SSC Steno eligibility requirement, the age for Stenographer Grade C is 18 to 30 and Stenographer Grade D is 18 to 27 years. SSC Stenographer Eligibility 2025: Nationality

To be eligible for SSC Stenographer exam, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Candidates must be either:

(1) A citizen of India, or

(2) A subject of Nepal, or

(3) A subject of Bhutan, or

(4) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before January 1, 1962, for permanently settling in India, or

(5) Indians who have migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam for permanently settling in India.

Any candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4) and (5) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued in their favour by the Government of India.

Knowing SSC Stenographer age limit is important for candidates to register for the exam. Those failing to fulfil with the SSC Stenographer age limit will be disqualified at any stage of examination. Below we have provided SSC Stenographer age limit.

Posts Age Limit (In Years as on  01.08.2025)

Stenographer Grade C

18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2025, i.e., candidates born not before 02.08.1995 and not later than 01.08.2007 are eligible to apply

Stenographer Grade D

18 to 27 years as on  01.08.2025, i.e., Candidates born not before 02.08.1998 and not later than 01.08.2007 are eligible to apply

Candidates belonging to the reserved categories are given relaxation in the upper age limit. The relaxation given to such candidates is given below.

Retrenched census employees of the office of Registrar General of India (They will be considered only for offices under RGI in their order of merit and subject to availability of vacancies )

3 years plus the length of service rendered by them in connection with census, before retrenchment and weightage of past service.

SSC Stenographer Qualification 2025

The educational qualification prescribed for SSC Stenographer exam is given below:

  • The candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university can apply for the exam
  • Candidates who have not acquired the essential qualification are not eligible to apply
  • As per Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification dated 10.06.2015 published in the Gazette of India all the degrees/diplomas/certificates awarded through Open and Distance Learning mode of education by the Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institutions Deemed to be Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and Institutions of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament stand automatically recognized for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government provided they have been approved by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission. However, such degrees should be recognized for the relevant period when the candidate acquired the said qualification
  • As per University Grants Commission (UGC) (Open and Distance Learning) Regulations, 2017 published in official Gazette on 23-06-2017, under Part-III (8) (v), the programmes in engineering, medicine, dental, nursing, pharmacy, architecture and physiotherapy etc are not permitted to be offered under Open and Distance Learning mode. However, pursuant to the Hon‟ble Supreme Court Order dated 11- 03-2019 in MA No. 3092/2018 in W.P. (C) No. 382/2018 titled Mukul Kumar Sharma & others Vs AICTE and others, B. Tech. degree/diploma in Engineering awarded by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to the students who were enrolled up to academic year 2009-10 shall be treated as valid, wherever applicable
  • All candidates who are declared qualified in the Computer Based Examination and the Skill Test will be required to produce all the relevant Certificates in original such as Marks Sheets, Provisional Certificates etc. for completion of 12th standard or equivalent examination as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification, failing which the candidature of such candidates will be cancelled. The candidates who are able to prove, by documentary evidence that the result of the qualifying examination was declared on or before the cut-off date and he/she has been declared passed, will also be considered to have met the required educational qualifications. It is reiterated that the result of requisite educational qualification must have been declared by the Board/University by the specified date. Mere processing of the result by the Board/University by the crucial cut-off date does not fulfill the EQ requirement
  • In case of the candidates possessing equivalent educational qualification, such candidates shall also produce relevant Equivalence Certificate from the concerned authorities at the time of Document Verification. Final decision regarding selection of such candidates will be taken by the concerned User Departments/Appointing Authorities

There are no sectional cut off in SSC Stenographer 2025 exam. Candidates need to secure the overall and sectional cut off marks in the exam. Candidates securing the cut off marks are selected for the next round.

SSC Stenographer cut off varies for posts Grade C and D. The variation in the cut off marks is due to the nature of the posts. SSC Steno cut off marks are calculated based on the difficulty level of the exam.

SSC Stenographer cut off 2025 for the CBT exam will be released soon. The cut off will be announced category-wise and post-wise in PDF form. Candidates need to secure both the qualifying marks as well as the cut off marks to get selected for the next round.

There is no facility to recheck the SSC Stenographer result. The result announced by the examination authority is considered final. SSC Steno result is prepared based on the final answer key.

SSC Stenographer result 2025 for CBT is expected to be announced soon. The result will be made available in PDF form. SSC Steno result PDF comprises the roll numbers of qualified candidates. Based on the CBT result, candidates are shortlisted for the Skill Test.
