How do I select the domain subjects for CUET UG?

Before selecting the test or domain subjects, candidates are advised to visit the official website of university/organaisation they wish to apply for. Candidates must check the courses offered and eligibility test that they should appear in for admission to desired course. The choice of language/domain subject and General test will depend upon the course and university. Candidates will be able to opt for one or more tests as per the requirement of the course and university from the following sections: Section I - 13 Languages Section II - 23 Domain Specific Subjects Section III - General Test

How many subjects can a candidate choose in CUET UG while filling the application form?

The numbers for choosing CUET subjects is five out of the 37 options available. Section 1A- (13 languages) Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, and Urdu. In CUET UG domain specific subjects, the UG course I wish to pursue is not available. What should I do?

Candidates are advised to check the University where the desired UG course is offered and check the eligibity test to appear for admission to the university. Follow the steps below to check the eligibility test: Follow the Steps given below: Open List of University provided at the official website of NTA CUET UG at cuet.nta.nic.in Select the University and Courses where candidate intend to take admission. Visit the official website(s) of the University and check the eligibility criteria for the courses in which candidate wants to take admission (required CUET subjects). This should be noted down for all University(ies) and Courses where candidate wants to take admission. Select the required CUET subjects for appearing in exam while filling the application form.

Which are the languages included in CUET UG?

CUET UG langauge section will now consist of 13 languages instead of 33 languages. The 13 langauges of CUET UG 2026 are: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Whereas, the languages which have been deleted are: Arabic, Bodo, Chinese, Dogri, French, German, Italian, Janpanese, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Nepali, Persian, Russian, Santhali, Sindhi, Spanish, Tibetan, Sanskrit.

Can I opt for several subjects in section II of CUET to apply for various courses?

Yes, an CUET applicant can opt for one or more combinations of the following: Section I: Language Test Section II: Domain subject test Section III: General Aptitude Test Candidates will be able to opt up to a maximum of five subjects in order to apply to different applicable courses that require these subjects for being eligible for admissions.

What type of questions are asked in the CUET exam?

The CUET questions are objective in nature and carries four options also known as MCQs. Candidates will have to choose the correct answer option and click on it with the help of mouse. Since CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in a CBT mode, test-takers will be able to mark only one answer option. In case it is the correct option, students will get +5 marks and in case of wrong answer, negative marking scheme will be applied. Hence, candidates must ensure the accuracy of the answer before selecting the answer.

Is it compulsory to attempt all the sections of the CUET question paper?

CUET UG question paper for each subject will consist of 50 questions. Candidates will be required to attempt all questions and no optional questions will be provided. In CUET UG 2026 there are 37 subjects- 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and general tests. While filling the CUET application form, candidates can select upto five CUET subjects aligning with the subjects studied in class 12th and course requirement. Candidates must attempt all the questions of the subjects selected. However, candidates must keep in mind the negative marking and select the options carefully.

What is the CUET marking scheme?

NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2026: Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5) Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1). Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0). If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options. If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

What is the CUET exam duration for each subject?

As per the CUET exam pattern, the subjects are divided into three sections as: Section I- Languages Section II- Domain Subject Section III- General Test Candidates will get 60 minutes for each subject. Candidates will not be given extra time.

What is the medium of CUET UG?

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG is conducted Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu languages. Candidates must note that the selection of medium will be restricted to state/UTs. How many questions are there in the language section of CUET UG?

CUET UG Language section will consist of 50 questions. Candidates will be required to attempt all questions. There will be no optional questions. The language section will assess candidate's reading comprehension based on different types of passages. This section will also include questions from grammar. To prepare for the CUET UG language section, candidates must solve previous year question papers and mock tests to become familiar with the type of questions asked in the exam. Candidates will be given a duration of 45 minutes to attend this section of CUET UG.

Does the CUET syllabus also include chapters from Class 11?

No, class 11th subject syllabus is not included in CUET UG exam. Students who are preparing for CUET 2026 exam must focus on class 12th NCERT curriculum. NTA prescribes the CUET UG syllabus on its official website. Candidates must be familar the detailed syllabus mentioned on the NTA CUET official website- cuet.nta.nic.in. However, for better concepts clarity, candidates may refer to the class 11th resources. NTA CUET 2026 exam will be scheduled in May/June 2026 tentatively. Candidates preparing for board examinations must prepare well for the CUET exam along.

When are CUET previous year question papers released?

CUET previous year question papers have been released for CUET 2025. National Testing Agency releases the CUET previous year question papers for all subjects and languages. Candidates preparing for CUET must download the previous year question papers to become familiar with the CUET exam pattern and the difficulty level of the question paper. NTA releases the CUET question papers for Languages, Domain subjects and General test seperately. No pre registrations are required to download the CUET previous year question papers. What is the difficulty level of the CUET exam?

The difficulty level of the CUET exam ranges from moderate to tough. Since the CUET UG exam is held for multiple subjects and slots, the difficulty level of the exam varies from subject to subject. Sometimes, the difficulty level may also vary for different slots. The difficulty level of exam is also relative and the same exam's level of difficulty may vary for different slots and candidates. While for the well-prepared candidates, the difficulty level will be low, for the underprepared students, the level of difficulty will be on the higher side.
