Low Score in CUET PG? Check Passing Marks

The National Testing Agency released the CUET PG 2026 result on April 24. The Exam conducting body also released the scorecard to all the eligible candidates(who appeared in the exam). The candidates are required to download their CUET PG 2026 scorecard to know their scores. The NTA released the results and the status of the candidates in the scorecard.

The testing agency conducted the CUET PG 2026 exam online as a Computer-Based Test(CBT) from March 6 to 27 at the designated exam centres across the nation. The NTA will inform the participating universities about the candidates who cleared the exam so that they can start their Counselling. The number of participating universities has increased to 198 and now the number of seats has also increased.

Usually, a score of 150 to 180 is considered low for admission. However, students can get admission into state, private and some central universities as the cutoff varies as per courses. Read this article to know admission chances at low scores and course-wise cutoffs etc.

Low score in CUET PG 2026: What are the Options?

The candidates should note that around five lakh candidates appeared in the CUET PG 2026 exam for admission to the Post Graduate Courses in the participating universities. The NTA does not release the cutoff; instead, the participating universities release their cutoff list for the first round of Counselling. The candidates who scored equal to or more than the cutoff are called to participate in the Counselling round. The candidates should also note that the CUET PG score is also acceptable to various private universities.

If someone gets a low score, like a 150 to 160 in CUET PG 2026 result, he/she must not lose hope for admission. Frankly, he/she may not get the course of his/her choice and colleges as well, but all roads don’t end here. There are lots of options that students can explore for admission. Students can still get admission into state and private universities and some lesser-known central universities. Students should look for the last round of counselling where admission is given at a low score. If you score low in the exam, you should keep a track of the cutoff of the respective course and college carefully. Look for less competitive courses, such as arts and humanities, for admission with a low score in CUET PG 2026.

CUET PG 2026 Passing Marks

The candidates should note that this is a competitive exam and the concept of passing marks is replaced by the cutoff. There is no benchmark that the candidates will get admission into a particular university on the same marks every year. The cutoff changes every year. There is a minimum eligibility criteria defined for the candidates. They should score at least 50% marksto get admission into the course. With a CUET PG MCA score of 118, admission to top central universities like DU, JNU, BHU, or premier NITs/IITs is unlikely, as their MCA cutoffs generally range between 170–200+ for the General category. With a CUET PG score of 110, admission to M.Sc. Mathematics at Delhi University is very unlikely. DU's CUET PG cutoffs for Science courses, including Mathematics, generally range much higher—often above 200–250 marks out of 300 for the General category.
