FRI Entrance Exam 2026: Registration Form, Exam Date, Eligibility, Result, Pattern & Syllabus

Forest Research Institute (Deemed) University conducts FRI Entrance Exam in order to shortlist aspirants for master’s programmes offered by the institute. On the basis of a candidate’s score in FRI Entrance Exam, he/she is shortlisted for admission in courses such as – MSc Forestry, MSc Wood Science & Technology, MSc Environment Management and MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology. After reorganization of Forestry Research in the country and creation of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) in 1988, the training and research centres were given an independent status of institutes. Forest Research Institute, now one of the institutes under ICFRE, was conferred the status of Deemed University in December 1991 on the recommendations of the U.G.C., Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

The FRI University will publish the application form for 2026 in the first week of February, tentatively. The FRI 2026 application form will be downloaded from the official website. Candidiates are required to submit the FRI application fee 2026 in the form of demand draft, which will be INR 1500.

Documents required for at FRI Entrance Exam 2026

The only documents required to get entry in the exam centre:

1. Admit Card

2. Government-issued photo ID like Aadhar Card, etc.

Candidates need to meet FRI Entrance Exam 2026 eligibility criteria as fixed by the Academic Council of Forest Research Institute.

MSc Forestry

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Forestry course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess Bachelor’s degree in Science with at least one of the subject from Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry.

MSc Wood Science & Technology

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Wood Science & Technology course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess Bachelor’s degree with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or BSc degree in Forestry.

MSc Environment Management

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Environment Management course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess three years Bachelor’s degree in any branch of basic or applied Sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or Agriculture or BE in Environment Science.

MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess three years Bachelors' Degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects or if they have completed their BE/BTech (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 50% aggregate).

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates meet Forest Research Institute entrance exam eligibility criteria if they possess at least 50% aggregate marks at the BSc level/MSc if they belong to General category and 45% if they belong to SC/ST category.

Age Limit for In-Service Candidates

The maximum age limit in respect of in-service candidate to MSc Environment Management course shall be 50 years. The age reckoned as on July 31 of the year of admission and no further relaxation will be given in any case.

The FRI entrance exam 2026 admit card will likely to be published in the fourth week of April, 2026. The FRI entrance exam 2026 includes the information about exam date, timings & instructions. FRI 2026 admit card consists of the candidate's information, application number, examination schedule, address of the candidiate, photograph and signature of the candidate & general instructions.

FRI Entrance Exam result 2026 is expected to be announced in mid June 2026. Students are advised to check website after completion of the exam.

The FRI counselling process 2026 is likely to start in the second week of July 2026. Only qualified students will be eligible to start course on the given date, and they must pay the course fee during the admission process.

If a student will not pay the fee the spot will transfer to the next person and their admission will be canceled.
