IIT JAM Hall Ticket 2026 will be available for download at the JOAPS portal. Students will be able to download the IIT JAM admit card 2026 by logging in to their registered account with the help of login credentials, i.e., enrolment ID or email ID and password. JAM Admit Card 2026  will be released for candidates who have filled out the IIT JAM application form 2026, and their forms have been successfully accepted by the exam officials.

IIT JAM Hall Ticket 2026 will be downloaded in PDF format, which mentions the JAM exam centre details, venue, shift timings and reporting timings. Any candidate who did not carry the IIT JAM 2026 admit card will not be allowed to appear for this science entrance exam

IIT JAM exam will be conducted on February 15, 2026, at 116+ exam centres across the nation. Candidates can download the admit card up to one or two days before the conduct of the examination. IIT JAM 2026 shift timings are such that the exam officials will conduct the exam for a duration in two shifts, ie, the morning shift from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm for Chemistry, Geology and Mathematics subjects and the afternoon shift from 2:30 to 5:30 pm for Biotechnology, Physics, Economics and Mathematical Statistics subjects.

How to Download IIT JAM 2026 Admit Card?

After downloading, candidates need to take a printout of the IIT JAM admit card and carry it to the allotted exam centre along with an original copy of valid ID proof. It may be noted that candidates not carrying their admit card or ID proof at the time of exam will not be allowed to appear for the exam. Yes! Now, take a printout of your admit card.

In case a candidate is not able to download his/ her admit card then the Chairman JAM of the IIT/ IISc under which the first choice of test city falls may be contacted through phone/ fax/ email. Q:   What are the photograph specifications that need to be pasted in the IIT JAM 2025 admit card?

Candidates has to paste their postcard-size photograph of 4"x6" dimension on the IIT JAM 2025 admit card. The photograph should have been the same as that uploaded during the IIT JAM 2025 application process. They also had to ensure that the photograph is clearly visible and legible and fulfills the guidelines given by IIT Madras, the examination conducting body.

 The photograph had to be pasted properly on the admit card so that it does not drop off from the document. The photograph should have followed the parameters given below:

  • The photograph should not be older than January 2024
  • The photograph should have been taken against a white background
  • The face should occupy at least 50% of the area of the photograph with a full-face view looking into the camera directly.

Q:   Is there any specific dress code guidelines for IIT JAM exam?
A: 

The IIT JAM 2025 entrance exam does not require students to stick to a specific dress code. You can typically get away with wearing casual outfits. However, many exams however, especially ones at a professional level, may benefit from more formal apparel (e.g., wearing a shirt and trouser). Some institutions may have specific guidelines (e.g., wear shirts or t-shirts, jeans or trousers, and recommend against women wearing high heels.)

Important Instructions on IIT JAM 2026 Admit Card

Candidates need to read the instructions present on their admit card for the IIT JAM exam very carefully.

  1. Aspirants need to carry their JAM admit card to their allotted test centre along with one photo ID. An original copy of the photo ID card needs to be carried by aspirants as a scanned copy of the photocopy will not be accepted. Photo ID cards that candidates can carry to their IIT JAM exam centre are- College ID, Employer ID, Driving License, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, and Aadhaar-UID.
  2. The print of the IIT JAM admit card has to be taken on A4-size paper by using a colour laser printer (preferably). After taking a printout of the admit card, candidates need to ensure that their signature and photograph are clear.
  3. Aspirants are advised to visit or locate their exam centre at least a day prior to the exam. 
  4. Candidates need to ensure that their fingertips do not have any coating (example: ink, mehndi, henna, or tattoo) as a biometric system of verification will be done on the exam day. 
  5. Aspirants need to report to their allotted IIT JAM exam centre at least 90 minutes before the exam starts for identity verification.
  6. Candidates will be allowed to take the IIT JAM exam only after their credentials have been verified by JAM Officials.
  7. Candidates will be allowed to sit at their allotted seat for IIT JAM 2026, 40 minutes before the exam is scheduled to start. Further, 20 minutes before the exam starts, candidates will be allowed to log in and read the exam instructions. 
  8. Candidates will not be able to log in 30 minutes after the exam has started.
  9. Candidates will not be permitted to leave their exam hall before the exam ends.
  10. In the IIT JAM exam, candidates will be provided with a 'virtual scientific calculator' on their computer screen. Candidates are informed that they would not be allowed to carry any personal calculators, mobile phones, watches/wristwatches or any other electronic devices inside their examination hall. Also, JAM exam officials are not responsible for the safekeeping of the personal belongings of candidates.
  11. Candidates are advised against carrying any charts/tables/papers to their exam hall. For rough work, aspirants will be provided with scribble pads. Candidates need to write their names and registration numbers on the scribble pad before using it. When the exam ends, the scribble pad has to be returned to the invigilator.

What if There is a Discrepancy in IIT JAM 2025 Admit Card?

In case of any discrepancy in the particulars of the candidate or his/her photograph and signature shown on the IIT JAM 2026 admit card, candidates should immediately approach the IIT Bombay Help Line between 10.00 am. and 5.00 pm. IIT Bombay mentions, "In such a case, the candidate would appear in the examination with the already downloaded Admit Card. However, IIT Bombay will take necessary action to make corrections in the record later." Hence, candidates need not worry about the possibility of not being allowed inside the IIT JAM exam centre. However, they must follow up with IIT Bombay before the commencement of the admission process. 

What After Downloading the IIT JAM 2025 Admit Card or Hall Ticket?

After downloading the admit card of IIT JAM 2026, candidates will have to do the following:

  • Print Multiple Copies: Take at least two colour printouts of your admit card on A4-size paper.
  • Verify Details: Carefully check all the information printed on your admit card for any discrepancies.
  • Photo & Signature: Paste your photograph in the designated space. Do not sign the admit card at home.
  • Parental/Guardian Signature: Get your admit card signed by your parents or guardians.

Things to Carry and Forbidden at IIT JAM Exam Centre

IIT JAM 2026 admit card is important but you should also take these documents and things to the venue:

Any government-issued original photo card like PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Ration Card, Passport, etc.)

Please carry the following objects to the centre:

  • one small sanitiser bottle 
  • one mask 
  • one transparent water bottle for drinking water 
  • one transparent pen (Blue/Black) 

Things that candidates must not carry to the IIT JAM 2026 exam center: 

Devices: electronic devices (mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth, and any other communication devices) are completely prohibited. 
Study materials: including books, notes, or written documents 
Food/drinks: including snacks or drinks that are not water (drinking water must be in a transparent bottle), and 
Jewellery: if necessary, please do not wear items that may potentially activate a metal detector (such as rings, earrings, or any number of bracelets).

Q:   Can I wear jewellery during IIT JAM exam?

In general, no, you should not wear jewellery to the IIT JAM exam centre.


Security Checks: You are likely to have to go through security checks by way of metal detectors at the entrance. Jewellery can trigger metal detectors and causes delays, and can only be annoying at the examination.
Distraction: You may find if you wear jewellery, it can be distracting in the exam and be uncomfortable. You need to consider this and take jewellery off and leaving it at home or preventing any unnecessary issues during the exam.

Q:   What are the consequences of bringing prohibited items to IIT JAM exam centre?

There have some serious consequences when bringing prohibited items to take any IIT JAM exams: 


Disqualification from the Exam: You can be disqualified from the exam, meaning your test could be taken away from you, and you could leave the examination room with the exam immediately invalidated. 
Seizure of Items: Any prohibited item found on your person will be taken from you by the exam officials. 
Possibly Criminal Action: Depending upon the item and the terms of the examination centre, in some cases bringing a prohibited item may incur some form of charges.

Q:   Can I wear caps or hats in winter inside IIT JAM exam hall?

The policies for the IIT JAM exam often ban candidates from wearing caps or hats when sitting in the exam hall. Making sure the examination is fair and secure is the purpose of this policy. While there may be no cap or hat policy written on the IIT JAM examination instructions, the general dress code may state 'no head coverings', in order to be free of suspicion of hiding cheating devices and for any obstruction of view the examiners may not be aware of.  While uploading the files, candidates must ensure that they do so in the suggested resolution. In case the PDF file or the printout does not display a clear photograph or signature, candidates need to check the PDF resolution again and check for clarity. If it is still not clear enough, then they have to approach the exam officials and seek solutions.
