MGU CAT Counselling 2025 - The selection list has been released at the university website. Candidates can check their status in the selection list by using login credentials. Selection of candidates for CAP is based on their MGU CAT score. MGU CAT counselling process or Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) schedule and process will announced at the official website of MG University soon. MGU CAT 2025 was held on June 8 and 9 and the result was announced on June 20, 2025. MGU CAT 2025 counselling process can therefore be expected in July. Q:   What is the minimum marks required to apply for MGU CAT exam?
A: 

The minimum marks required to apply for MGU CAT exam varies between 50 to 60 per cent aggregate in graduation. For each course, the minimum score criteria is different.

MBA/PGDM, MSc, LLM, MA (Politics & International Relations/Politics & Human Rights/Public Policy & Governance), the minimum score requirement is 50 percent.

For MA Economics, MA in Malayalam, MA in English, MA (Gandhian Studies/Development Studies), MA (History and Anthropology) and M.Ed, the minimum score requirement is 45 percent.

Q:   Is CUET compulsory for MG University?
A: 

No, a CUET score is not required for admission to MG University courses. There is no information available regarding the same officially. Admission to the MGU Kerala courses is merit and entrance-based. The university also conducts an in-house entrance examination, which is the Mahatma Gandhi University Common Admission Test (MGU CAT).  It is conducted for admissions to various PG programmes offered by the University such as MSc, MA, Master of Tourism and Travel Management, LLM and M.Ed. In addition, many national-level exam scores are also accepted for admission.

Q:   Which MBA entrance exam scores are valid for admission to MG University?
A: 

The MBA entrance exam scores are valid for admission to MG University’s MBA courses are CAT, CMAT and KMAT. Candidates must have passed any one of these exams in the same academic year. They are not required to appear for MGU CAT and can directly participate in the personal assessment round – GD and PI.

Q:   What after MGU CAT exam?

After the MGU CAT exam is conducted and the result is announced, the university conducts a Centralised Admission Process (CAP) which includes PI or GD-PI. CAT qualifying candidates have to participate and clear the GD/PI round for their respective courses to be selected for admission. Thereafter the final merit list is prepared based on candidates’ overall performance.

Q:   Which documents have to be submitted for MG University MBA course admissions?

Candidates are required to submit the required document for verification purposes. These documents are checked for eligibility of the candidate. The documents required at the time of the MGU Kerala MBA application process are as follows:

  • Scorecard of CAT/CMAT/KMAT (Mandatory)
  • Passport-size photograph (Mandatory)
  • Qualifying exam
  • Non-Creamy layer certificate (for candidates who are claiming reservation under the OBC community)
  • Certificate of sports and games/NCC/NSS

Q:   What is the seat reservation policy of MG University for BSc courses?
A: 

Mahatma Gandhi University reserves seats for the students, who belong to SC/ST/SEBC candidates. The university has seats reserved under the Sports/Cultural/PD Quota as well. The seat bifurcation for BSc courses at the aided colleges is as follows:

  • Open quota seats: 50% in the case of aided/aided forward community Colleges and 40% in the case of aided backward Community Colleges
  • For SC/ST candidates: 15% for SC and 5% for ST categories
  • Community Merit Quota Seats: 10% in the case of aided/aided forward community Colleges and 20% in the case of aided backward Community Colleges

MGU CAT 2025 Counselling: Preparation of Rank List

The MGU CAT rank list for all the PG programmes except MA English, MA Malayalam, MA Social Work in Disability Studies and Action and Master of Physical Education and Sports will be prepared based on:

A) Total marks scored in the Objective Test + Total marks scored in GD/Interview/Descriptive examination converted into out of 1,000

B) The bonus marks/weightage marks/Handicap mark (-ve)

A+B shall be the index marks. The rank list will be prepared and published accordingly.

Once the counselling rounds is over, an Allotment Memo will be issued by Mahatma Gandhi University. After verifying the documents, the concerned Department/School shall release the final list of candidates selected for admission on the University website.

There is no provision to edit MGU CAT application form after submission. Candidates can edit their forms till the time they haven't submitted it. The MGU CAT application fee is not refundable. Thus, candidates make sure they do not make any error in the form and that they have fill another form. Even if they have filled the form correctly, but choose to not appear in the exam, the fee amount will not be refunded.

MGU CAT application form is not available offline. The institute releases MGU CAT application form in online mode only at its official website. All candidates have to register on the website, fill the application form and pay the fee online only.
