Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology BTech is a four-year undergraduate degree course, divided into eight semesters and offered in full-time mode. Admissions can be taken by presenting a valid JEE Main score. Class 12 performance is also taken into consideration. Thapar University BTech courses are spread across various specialisations. Some of the specialisations are, CSE, Biotechnology, ECE, Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, and more. The institute also offers an International Engineering Program in collaboration with University of Queensland in five specialisations. Thapar University BTech fees is different from all specialisations of both BE and BTech courses. Both courses have been divided into three groups where every specialisation in the same group has the same Thapar University fees. If candidates secure a minimum aggregate of over 75%, they are eligible for a tuition fee waiver in BME, CHE, CCA, CIE, ELE, EIC, MEE and MEC branches. Students have to pay the fee on per-semester basis. The fee structure includes many one-time and annually paid components. The admission fee has to be paid only once at the time of admissions. Other charges are tuition fee, development fee, etc. The university also provides hostel facilites for students. The accommodations are available in two/ three seater AC and Non-AC rooms. Hostel fees depends on type of room. It is highest for 2 seater AC room and lowest for 3 seater Non-AC room.

To get the BTech Merit Scholarship-I at Thapar University, applicants must complete their Class 12 and must have scored more than 95%. Additionally, the applicant must be among the top 50 students based on their All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main 2024, regardless of her/ his engineering branch.
For continuation of the scholarship in the second year, applicants must have a minimum of 8.50 CGPA in all previous semesters. In BTech Merit Scholarship-I, students get a total fee waiver.

I do pick Thapar. A friend of mine studied there and the exposure, faculty, and placement opportunities were really good. For Chemical Engineering, Thapar has a stronger reputation overall.

Both are really good institutions, but I had to choose, so I would lean towards Lovely Professional University – Computer Science (CSE)

Thapar stands out because of its strong research culture, modern labs, funded projects, and active Chemistry & Biochemistry department with significant research output and infrastructure. VIT is also a good option with decent academics and research opportunities, but for pure Chemistry, I feel Thapa

Thapar is a good choice because of its strong academics, good placements, experienced faculty, and active campus life. A friend of mine studied there and always said the exposure and learning opportunities were really worth it.
